Just wanted to say that you're the only Davinci How-to UA-camr that actually got it right as far as exporting the work and being able to bring it back in and have it work without an error. I tried everybody else's way and not one worked until I watched this. Thank you.

I was looking for a method to reuse the fusion comp in other projects. I am so happy to find your video. Instead of one method, you gave multiple ways of doing it. You are so comprehensive and I am learning a lot from you. Continue with your great work.

19:43 - Thanks a plenty! It took forever to find out why my fusion composition was displaying "media offline" when I used it as a macro in other projects. The official training docs didn't help and never mentioned the loader node. But after swapping the mediaIn node of my image for the loader node, it works perfectly! Your explanation of what was happening explains what Resolve was only hinting in the ui. Cheers!

what if you have many save nodes and you want to render just one. how do you do this? so every time you change something in the nodes section and press the "Render all Savers", it will again and again render the same things which makes it no difference to the usual render. how to make sure you render just a single saver node?

When I was starting out I used several of your videos as examples for how to include social media overlays but since my editing PC is very under powered I found that using Fusion each time made overall editing longer and slower. I can't remember where I first came across the saver node but I have switched to using it to create my overlays. This has been a huge time saver for me. I have found this to be a good technique in my circumstances. Thanks for sharing.

This past weekend I sat down and did the work and created my first ever Fusion project. I was super proud of myself, and pleased with my project untli I put it into the video I had waiting for it. In the video it was semi-transparent. I was mystified, since I knew I had followed tutorials correctly.
Later that evening I opened my UA-cam and found this video waiting on my subscriptions page. While watching I was sure that the section on the codec that allows for transparency was the key to my problem. How did you know to post this video that day? Five mintes following this tutorial and my problem is fixed. Woot.
Thanks Jay. Keep up the good work.

Very nice video. Question. If you have RAW footage, what would be the workflow in working in a 1080 timeline, but you want the fusion delta key to be drawn from the original 6K footage? But you want to do some color correction in order to get rid of the raw look.

Love the longer format videos and the greater depth you show for this wonderful program. Would love to know more about MULTIPLE masks used simultaneously. For example, a still image with perhaps six different areas or masks that need adjustment, and then send them all to the color page for more work. Say, an image of a room with a window that needs to be masked and adjusted for brightness, a table lamp that needs masking and color temp adjustment, some background shadows that need lifting, etc. So ... How to use Fusion's strength in masks and then send those to the Resolve color page for individual mask color refinement and control??? Thanks again, JR. Mike

  • @cinema8564

JR: Resolve uses the GPU for many functions and OFX. But Fusion does not seem to use the GPU at all for rendering. Correct??? Workarounds??? Third party render engines??? Thanks for a great channel, JR.

Could anyone suggest why my clip always ends up being 5 sec long when using DNxHR? My fusion clip is 20 seconds long (600 frames and timeline is set for 30 fps) and the result file has 5 seconds. It acually really is only first quarter of my animation.

This video starts simple and gets "richer" with each workflow option. My jaw dropped when fast project switching was mentioned.
It seems that every time I learn something new about Resolve, I say "I'm not going back" to Premiere Pro. Hahaha, and I left Final Cut for Premiere (mainly because of network drive support and backwards compatibility after app updates).

how would i save a fusion composition or import a separate project that only has fusion comps into a new project if I need to alter certain aspects of it? For instance, I have a series of icons (image) and text that is all animated. The text will change from video to video, but I want to be able to use the icon + text that is animated. I guess I could just change the text within that project and then render/animate it all out then import the video file to the new project and cut as needed.

That was great, it took me a while to get my head round it, my imported .comp was working in fusion but not on the edit page, then I realised I had to convert the clip to a fusion clip.
Is there anyway a fusion composition can be saved as a Template along with relative path images so that a lower thirds for example can include a logo without having to put it into the media pool every time? I can't get it to work using the Path settings in Fusion?

Great video Jay, thanks a lot! I'm a bit late to this, just catching up now. So my question is this, what else can we consolidate between projects? This is a workflow question as much as a technical question. I come from a music background and I was always reminding myself to save templates above all but also channel settings, effects settings, midi patterns, wavs as samples, plug in settings and beats as wavs or midi patterns to use between projects, as well as key commands. We all get into bad habits and forget to do this as much as we should if we were 100% organised. I am really interested how you approach the whole idea of not doubling on work between projects. I am sure you have lots of ideas for future videos, I for one would greatly appreciate you considering adding it to your list. All the very best to you!

    Hi
First of all thanks for all the knowledge. Have bought some of your titles and they are great.
Question: If i wanted to use two styles of font display, maybe colour, or size, etc, on the same Fusion Comp in DR16, how would i go about it. I've tried several ways but don't seem to be having any luck. Although, to be honest, i'm still having a bit of a Fusion Node crisis and still trying to get my head around some of the ideas.
Would really be grateful for some insight on this issue.
    Thanks again JayAre.
