Watching your site brings back wonderful memories. I am now 80 years old and used to have an antique booth. I adore the two of you, I have MS so my “searching” is over and pretty much homebound. You two make my day . I have to say it took me awhile to understand your terminology. Vintage is all things made prior to year 2000. Mid-century is 1970s. To me, mid -century is 1950s which is also arts and crafts. After WW11 in 1946 ushered in the arts and crafts because so many US service men had been all over the world and their experience introduced something other than English antiques. You make my day. My dog, Maggie, loves you too! Keep going! 29:06
I would watch you for six hours or more! It is so great to see you and Jesse share the same interests and encourage one another in your adventures. BTW, lip is the outer rim of the vase and mouth is the opening of the vase!
The Trotting Black Horse looks like a FRIESAN. The fullMane and Tail ; along with the Feather(ing) above it's hooves , totally reminds me of that particular Beautiful Breed. Originated near Holland.
Came in to Portland on Sunday night for a visit to meet our new grandson. The wife and I managed to do 5 Goodwills on Wednesday. I carried home in my backpack a lovely signed Marcello Fantoni for Raymor 1960's vase, it was $9.99.
Love this series! I live in Chicago and there are 43 Goodwill Stores within a 50-mile radius. I don’t own a car so I rent one every month (except in winter) and hit as many stores as I can in 3 days. The prices are fairly reasonable here and I can usually get a 20% discount. I’ve learned so much from your videos and appreciate your style ideas!
I’m in Chicago suburbs. Never knew we had so many Goodwills within 50 mile radius. Upon watching Laura’s Chanel I started to venture out to my closest locations and it’s been really addictive. I’ve spent few hundreds last month 😂
Bittersweet for the ending of the Goodwill series to be on the horizon, however, it's endeared me to your channel. Can't believe how fast it's gone! See you guys next time!
I’m a potter of 39 years. I live in Seagrove N. C. The pottery Capital of the United States. Around 54 Pottery shops galleries in 9 miles of each other. It was 98 before Covid hit.
I live in NC also and like you said we have beautiful and very useful pottery to choose from here! I love the pieces that I’ve purchased in our state. Thanks for posting about our awesome area ❣️
I'm also in NC and was about to post about Seagrove also! 🥰 It's a little haul from me but our state has a rich history in pottery! I appreciate your craft!!! 🥰
I came here to say the same thing! The pottery in this region is amazing. I’m so accustomed to seeing pottery everywhere that it never occurred to me that other areas wouldn’t have so much.
The butter bell does not match the dish. You need a raised bottom piece to hold the water for a true butter bell to work. The base is completely different design, probably a different artist. Close, but, no cigar(box), lol. Loved the series, especially with Jesse able to come along. Really looking forward to the bins videos.
I agree--not a butter bell. The clay is not the same color so the pieces do not go together. The unglazed part inside the "top" would indicate it was made to sit on another unglazed rim--possibly a jar.
The beauty of kitsch is that it's making you giggle :) I understand why Jessie loves it He had some quite fun finds I would pick up too. Love both of your styles
I think Jesse was right about the butter bell. I love watching you and Jesse. I wish I was there with you. I used to live in Oregon City and I wish I still lived there because I live in hell now and have for 45 years it called Arizona over 100 degree days with high humidity is so awful. I love Oregon. So thank you for letting me hang with you.
There are videos of people creating puzzles for squirrels to get at nuts. Strange but true. You know that most of us would watch you for 6 hours. Oregon is so beautiful
You two crack me up..!! I love watching you together and I am learning a lot. I’m not too far away near Tacoma, WA. There is. HUGE Goodwill near Seattle on Dearborn. I live the comments from you both…!!!😅
I can’t believe this series is almost over. It was so much fun to watch. You curated some wonderful items. I’m looking forward to seeing what you find in the bins.🤗
I did pottery for years. Turn over the pieces and look at the unglazed bottoms, the cover, and look at the rim where it sits on the plate. So the raw pieces match. If so that's a set, clay bodies will look the same
Loooooved this episode, can't wait for more. Second all those who say they'd do 6 hours at the bins with y'all - what a great thing to have going off to my side while I photograph and list! A thought about the baskets - fading often doesn't mean age, as lower-quality dyes or plant dyes that are more fugitive rather than substantive can fade very very quickly in light, even indoors, like in a few weeks.
I’m in Pennsylvania and I find good pottery almost every time I go thrift .. it’s amazing! I’m not sure why but like you said i think there are a lot of makers in this area as well. So grateful!! I love your videos sooo much ❤
I am in New Zealand and always find artist signed studio pottery, unfortunately in recent years the prices have doubled. As well as turned wood pieces. Love watching you and Jesse out and about.
🤫🥺🥹😢😭 So sad this part is over! Loving the fact that Jessie participated in this series. It's such a delite watching you both together. And i absolutely loved the shirt you wore in this video. I can't wait for the bins episodes. 6 hours more or less works for me! The couroc tray is one of my favorite finds today! I have a small collection, mainly frog ones.
Here in Chicago, and I wish I could stay focused like you. We don't have many Goodwills in the city but I so enjoy watching you guys and I've learned a lot!
We have someone local in my village in England, that makes pottery. She even made a winner plate for our local marathon. She does beautiful simple pottery, basically plates, creamers, jugs and assorted sized bowls. I wholeheartedly agree with you, Laura, it’s way too early to put Halloween things out, where they could put other things on the shelves!
I had that cat tray years ago! My boyfriend at the time started a fire in the wood burning stove with the tray on top and ruined it. I've never come across another one. Great find!
Also, i have absolutely loved this series. i have been going thru alot and you guys have taken my mind off of it every Friday. I just cannot believe that a network hasn't found you to do your own show. I adore you 2 !
I live in Cave Creek AZ, just north of Phoenix. We see a lot of metal art out here. Full size horse statues, metal cactus, etc., it’s fun! …also, I think you’re right about both mouth and lip on that vase. It is the mouth, and each side are the lips, imo. Looking forward to seeing more ❤
With resin items (like the cat tray) and also lacquerware, a light wax makes any scratches less obvious and gives the item more depth without compromising the patina.
The lip of a vase is the part of the vase that flares out at the top, where the neck meets the body. The lip can be an important visual component of a vase, and can affect how people perceive its weight, function, value, and refinement. FYI.
My father-in-law taught ceramics and pottery for over 35 years at Rogue Community College in Southern Oregon (Grants Pass), and there is a really strong group of artisans in that field down here (in fact wonderful event held each fall called Clayfolk where local potters sell their amazing work). I agree, Oregon and the west coast is ripe with many amazing artists. Loved this series, Laura. Good job! 🌸
Holy cow! When I lived in Astoria in 1985 there was nothing in Warrenton, except this machine shop that doubled as a second hand place. I still have the little pine table w/ the single drawer that I drug home in my Honda for $10. Great finds today! I’m looking forward to the bins & boutiques. I imagine you will find great variety & differences between them. But maybe not, the PNW does have great thrift stores! ❤️
This was such a brilliant series. But I am now wishing I lived in your State/Country! When you film the shelves from end to end I often pause it to see everything. That way I am sure to be depressed about what we do not have here in Australia RLOL!!!! The last GW delivered! Thoroughly LOVED this series!
I live about an hour away from Seagrove, NC, an area that has historically been known for pottery. It is a small town with a large number of potters creating beautiful art and utilitarian pieces.
You guys have been on FIRE! Loved this series. Love seeing you both together, having fun and finding treasures. Great content - I know how much work goes into each one, and you've done an amazing series. Thank you!
22:33 I absolutely love the colour scheme of that vase! So natural and relaxing! Over here (Germany) you get a lot of great pottery, too. I love handmade pottery decoration! The greatest pieces often are from the 80s when it was very popular here. I remember back in school we all got the chance to make some pottery for ourselves, many schools have appropriate ovens for baking pottery. I once scored a second hand handmade kitchen wall clock in the shape of a red apple with the most amazing colours, but since it was an online purchase, it arrived broken. I could fix it, but after a few days the clockwork died. I can´t exchange it because someone glued it on with epoxy glue, but I didn´t have the heart yet to throw the clock away. It´s a cheap clockwork, the whole thing is most likely from the 80s, maybe I can find someone to repair it. I don´t know. Seems a waste of money on a second hand clock, but I love it so much!
Fun thrifting day with the best thrifting couple! Great pottery, I can’t imagine the amount you have found when you have the great finally ! Btw, love your old vintage table you showed the pottery haul on at the end of today’s shopping. So close to being done now that the thrift stores have been completed. Looking forward to the vintage shops you have picked out ! Such a brilliant idea Jesse, that you didn’t think Laura would have taken seriously as a challenge!
I love that cat tray you found. I used to have lowball glasses with the same cat on them. Perhaps they went together? I love all the old cigar boxes too. I like to decoupage them. And I'm with Jesse on the two pottery pieces that you put together. I don't think they were made together.
Florida--at least where I am in the Tampa/St. Pete area--has a lot of everything. Mainly because people come from everywhere & end up here. And then, sadly, eventually die and leave their estates. So we really do get an eccletic mix of items, eras, and styles. I love thrifting down here! What we DEEFINITELY see a lot of are old cigar boxes (like in your vlog at 16:50). Tampa was a cigar-rolling mecca back in the day with our local Cuban population in Ybor City (part of Tampa). My great-grandparents from Sicily had a bakery there. Cigar boxes are an easy find here, and I really love the local ones. Also, the pinched-mouth vase looks like our Florida terrrazzo floors. Lol
Dear Laura and Jesse I have some long term health issues with good days and bad days you guys and your adventures so help on the bad days…. Big Thank You Both Go Well…….,
I live in Southern California and I find studio pottery at every thrift store trip I do. I have found some beautiful pieces. I love the pieces you always find. So much talent in the world. Thank you for the Goodwill series of videos. They’ve been fun! The Goodwills in my area aren’t even as grand as yours. Ours are small with very little hard goods.
Well that was fun while it lasted. Im sure the bins will be entertaining because you two always are! I’ve never been to the bins. I’m from the Pittsburgh area and I have heard horror stories so they intimidate me! I’ve also seen other resellers attempt them and some folk can act so aggressively. Wish you two luck and happy thrifting!❤Wear gloves!!!
I can’t believe how neat and tidy your goodwill stores are! Completely different here in the southeast. I see all kinds of things on your shelves that I’d love to have.
I very much enjoyed these 12 episodes Laura & Jesse. Looking forward to see what you are bringing us next. Happy Thrifting to you! Hope you both find some great treasures in the bins.
Greetings from across the US, in RI!❤ We have a wonderful wealth of art pieces in our thrift stores...I think it's because we have RISD in our midst. I love your channel...thank you for your service to this vast reselling community🎉
I too would watch you two for 6 hrs. You guys make my heart happy. I'm recovering from aneurysm surgery so when I see you have a new video out I smile both internally and with my mouth aka lips lol in reference to the vase lol
I watched one of your Minnesota vids this week and you came across a "dream tree" I believe. Gold with shiny gold leaves and copper wire. I bought one at an antique store a cpl yrs back for $1. Never knew there was a name for it. It was cool to see one in your vid and you even mentioned it!
I have a small one with the gold leaves. It was in my husband’s mother’s things. I never knew there was a name. I have several with different stone chips. I love anything with the tree shape!
Not that you need more projects, but you need milliput in your life, its a putty to fix those chips, that bowl was so beautiful. It does amazing things.😊
Laura, when I find a piece of pottery or glass that I love with a rim chip, i use 220 sand paper and sand it smooth. For pottery I will use the ole nail polish touch up if necessary.
This series has been amazing! I have to share with you a Thursday estate sale find, I picked up a 1985 Don Freedman piece for $30.00. It has a large dragonfly & butterflies on it.
Your videos are the best! You look at quality items, teach us things about your finds. You don’t waste my time with needless stuff! Ha. Some look at an item, talk about it….then say I’m leaving this…..I appreciate your passion for what you do. So nice Jesse is your partner in everything also. Keep up the good work!
I live in Cornwall, UK and this county is known for its pottery artisans... from mid century, all the way through to now. In fact I enjoy making pottery myself. It's also known for its copper craft, as it was mined in this area. You see a lot of both popping up at local carboots, etc... Your videos always make for a great start to my Saturday morning... and this series has been so fun (you and Jesse together always crack me up).... and I cant wait to see the new format of the next instalment of the bins. Exciting :D
Oh I love your idea of the black nail polish on the horse that's going to tell you marker play love how you talked about the the warmer for Brandy and be nice and warm and sounded so smooth and lovely and I've never had it but you made a sound a great experience thanks.

You put a spout in that pottery piece and it heats your mulled wine. You would also need a cork for the top.

I’d watch you guys for 6 hours every day!!! You rock!
Can’t wait to see the bins videos
I really like the algae vase, too, Laura. haha The round table with the scallop around the top is awesome.
The Mr. Peanut dispenser could be collectible. I know some of the banks and glass jars are.
@leeannmettlach2412 How awesome! I haven't googled it yet. Might be something I look out for from now on! Looking forward to researching!
@@7951Aries I don’t know if the other little trees I have are also called “Dream Trees”, but I love them.
Waiting "patiently" for next year's travel trips to drop. My daughter and I are going on one with you for my retirement trip!!
Oh my we’d sure love that!! Announcing in the next few weeks!
You guys are the best!
Congratulations!! What a find!
@leftcoastrevivals thank you! If it wasn't for you, I wouldn't have known who Don Freedman was.
I’m pretty sure I would watch for 6 hrs 😂😂 I love searching and digging! Loved this series and I’m excited for the boutiques and the bins 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Also that mask is so cool! Love the woven baskets and the vase with the “lip” or “mouth” was neat with the speckling!
This is grandma from Texas and I think the little pottery piece with the lid and holes is a garlic keeper😘
I would totally watch you for six hours!!
Your videos are always worth weight! The production quality is outstanding. Thanks for all the time you put into them.
Thank you so much! It means the world to me for it to be noticed and appreciated 😄 I truly love making them! But it’s sure a LOT of work.
@@leftcoastrevivals we have a small selection of videos and movies we at Christmas time. We enjoyed your Christmas market episodes so much that we have added them to that collection!
I would watch every day
I can hang with you guys for 6 hours. Can't wait for the bins. It's been a hot minute since i have seen you go to the bins🙂
