I love this but I feel carla deserves a rug under her desk so she is cozy and warmer in winter! Also to divide it a bit and mark the office from the rest of the space
As well as not being stuck by the bathroom. :/ It's like being stuck in a back-row airplane seat you can't ever escape. For equipment storage and such it would've made way more sense for her to be on the closest side.
maybe they could do a wee custom divider to give some separation between her office and the door as well! they'd have to move that table though - could be nice closer to the entryway anyway
I actually love when you include "mistakes" like the cabinet legs being too long. It shows that something being slightly off plan isn't a disaster- you can adapt it on the fly and keep going!
Oh my gosh! Your coffee table book Never Too Small is also a UA-cam channel about living in small spaces and unique design. Their channel taught me so much about living fully in a tiny space and it's helped me alot to make my studio apartment feel like home. If you've never heard of them and you like global deisgn/architecture, space maximizing and small space design it's so worth checking out. So cool to see them pop up in an AG video! Love them
I would have added a big curtain all accross the wall behind Carla's desk because it kinda feels unfinished the way it is right now. That or a wallpaper. Also that would add a little extra touch of color :)
I'm really interested to hear how this space actually work out for you as an office / studio space. I think we'd all much rather work in environments that feel more like home, but there are practical reasons why offices end up looking like offices and studios look like studios. I'm thinking of things like storage, stationery, IT, electrical outlets and cleaning as well as lighting and sound deadening for when you're filming / recording. I genuinely hope it works for you, but I'd also love an honest update on how functional it is in 6 months time.
I think this space will be used more as a filming space than a typical office space. She said in the last video that they’re keeping the original HQ as their office space with all the desks and such. And I think Carla’s desk will only be used sometimes because she’s part time iirc
@@hjcullen8111 why is the desk placement not conducive? I think so. I would rather look out into the room than stare at a wall. It's a more commanding position, too. Different strokes for different folks.
I’m almost 60 years old and I love the pom-pom canvas! Also, I cannot believe the beautiful old door that you found and the colors in it match your walls and your floor rug so beautifully! The shades of color remind me of Santa Fe.
It looks so inviting and comfortable now!!! A few thoughts: 1) could you stuff something into the pom'd slippers on the bookcase so that they have some dimension to them? 2) that divider wall is stunning. Love it. 3) so glad you guys left the old door the way it was. I think it looks remarkable in that space. 4) could you add a large format floral wallpaper to the window wall behind Carla's desk? I felt like that section was looking a touch bare.
I am a huge fan of Alexandra Gater's channel. Every time, I get really excited about new videos. Unfortunately, there hasn't been any satisfying content in the past month. I really enjoyed watching your useful and stylish makeover videos. The changes you made, especially in small spaces, were inspiring. I hope this channel returns to its former glory.
I’m so freaking happy for you it brought tears to my eyes. My favorite thing on the planet is watching people do what they’re on the planet for. This is your thing and I LOVE seeing you (all!!!) succeed. 💕
Love iiiiiit!!! The colors, that divider, the rug and furniture, the lamps, all the textures, that door (I swear, Graham should put up a shop with all the magical stuff he finds on the street or the garbage... it could be called "The Curb", and I would buy everything). My only quip is that Carla deserves a nice big plant in her corner.
Of course Graham found the perfect door in the trash! I love the character. You get a little extra light through the cracks. So charming! The new windows in the doorway are great too!
I would love to see Alexandra incorporate vintage, handcrafted by makers, or thoughtfully-sourced second hand furniture. I think this would push her design style, rely less on trends, and, most importantly, de-center mass manufactured/fast furniture that is killing the planet. I understand the importance of accessibility for her audience, but its hard to tell where the line is on what her style is vs. what's immediately available/what's trending. I understand that the actual circumstances are far more complex but food for thought.
I feel like she did do that. The ceiling lights are handcrafted. The cabinet second hand from FB marketplace. The knobs are repurposed. The door was basically garbage.
Love the experimental process and that you aren’t afraid to change your mind/colors/legs. Always a cool design. Enjoy your new space!thrifted pieces for accents instead of new would be interesting…
Graham! That divider! Would have cost thousands if a company would make it custom for such a place. You even cut the fluted glass on your own, WOW! You could do your own channel, you know that, right? Great job!

So I truly can worship what this guy is able to. Respect! 👍😊 Greetings from Germany 😊
Not Alexandra having no clue what Never too Small is!! I was not sure about the chartreuse but I am so impressed. Team AG per usual challenging the limits of our design comprehension. Absolutely love the beautiful mirror reflecting the light above the stairwell. If there were one thing I would change, it is probably painting the accent wall trim jawbreaker instead of the intense chartreuse.
I'm still not liking the chartreuse with pink. So harsh. Almost any other color would have worked. But fluted glass is one of my most favorite things. I have Ikea wardrobe/cabinets that have cloudy fluted plastic inserts which works well as you can't really see the clothes distinctly and they are lightweight. Old ones I got on craigslist.
Love the transformation so far. It feels welcoming like a second or home away from home and a cold uninviting office/workspace. Creative spaces inspires creativity and positivity. If I may add to 2,5 cents - how about a soft sheer curtain behind Carla's desk in one of the colours in the space be.

Absolutely love the divider wall of windows & the transom style window over the closet. Everything looks beautiful, as It always does! Excited for the next room!😁
