I wish Amain did more review videos. I get that it's a retailer, and these are supplemental to sales, but these review videos are better than 99.9% of the review videos on youtube.

So happy to see another brand making rwd drift cars
I remember buying my very first actual 2WD drift car from your website which is the Yokomo YD-2AC RTR version and it was absolutely amazing car to drift around with no changes whatsoever. Now seeing this RDS and I’m surprised RedCat made an actual 2WD proper drift car. I’m definitely gonna check it out and hopefully maybe RedCat will be making upgrades soon
Not 100% sold on the plastic internals or the body. The chassis looks like it has some solid potential, but I’d love to see a kit version w/o the body and with metal gears.
Metal gears really aren't necessary on RWD Drift cars.
even the high end kits use aluminum and composite gears.
@zrofucks2give869 Every manufacturer has solid rigs and ones that don’t live up to the hype 🤷🏼♂️ We sell a lot of Redcats out of the LHS I work at. We even use the Lightning as our track rental cars. We never have issues with Lightnings, Kaijus, Gen8s, Gen9s, Marksmans, lowriders, ridgerocks, Everest10s, or Volcano16s. For a manufacturer to have that many solid products makes me a big ‘ol fan. Sorry you had a bad experience 🤷🏼♂️
@@ShaneMikula I’ll be pickin’ up the chassis kit regardless and rippin’ it around P&F damn near soon as it comes out. Looking at it more and more and you can tell this was designed to work with all kinds of surfaces. The adjustability is excellent 👌🏼👌🏼

Looking at it , it seems that its not that bad. It has all the right parts in there, so in theory it should perform decently. Now from the what i have already seen and heard (aside from this vid) It appears that its pretty good for the beginner as an another option amongst the already available entry level car. With that being said i personally believe that its very attractive to beginners because Redcat is offering this as an RTR car as well. All in all i think its a good option will see what the more experienced guys do with this.
10-12 years ago, most people would never have imagined anyone bothering to do comprehensive reviews of a redcat model. With the exception of the weird headlight decal, the body isn't bad. The mounting system is great...for that body, probably not for any other. But the impressive thing is redcat being willing to support the more niche RC segments. The lowrider isn't my cup of tea, but it's a damn impressive chassis with some beautiful body options. And now a RTR, RWD drifter? Add in the 1/5 crawler (years before axial did it) the more budget friendly gen7 and gen8, some 1/5 electric RTRs and well..although their catalog isn't as big as others they do have some models that really stand out.
Nice to see some competition for MST. I hate the body but I'd do my own body anyways...

Not bad I’d like to see some different more scaled body’s that can fit this but it looks tunable.
Definitely an interesting approach for Redcat to take, out of all the new Releases from them an actual 2WD Drifter isn't what I was expecting at all.
Also surprised it's not a more basic one similar to how 3Racing have a Basic Sakura D5 Lite Chassis Kit as an entry. Would've been nice to have an actual Basic 2WD RTR that's cheaper than the MST's and Yokomo's but I'm definitely intrigued to see how it holds up over time and whether Redcat will take this line further or if it's just a one-off.

How does it hold up against an MST RMX 2.0/2.5 RTR? Those drift nice out of the box.
Both reviews I have seen so far have not mentioned that the body looks like 🤮, chassis looks alright though. Great review though

I guess I'm in the minority because I don't mind the body... Chassis looks pretty sweet. The only problem I see is that in Canada the price is right there with the MST 2.5 which seems to be a little bit better chassis on paper

I'd go with the Yokomo YD2. It's a tried and true drift chassis.
according to the redcat website the motor is a 540

What's a better starter drift sc mst or redcat? Or is there something else you would recommend
As much as i love my mst rmx2.0s kit version, the rtr needs a handful of things to make it run better like a ball diff as opposed to a spool, and a set of good turnbuckles like the kit have. This Redcat has all that and more. A much better drifter with only minor tweaks needed.

Sure. The more rough it is, the more it may wear out the tires, but it can be done.

Add more steering angle, get rid of the flat-profile tires, metal internals and dump the body and you may have something
@ZrOfucks2give Have you tried RWD drifting? Everyone changes out the body and tracks like ours have a spec tire that you are required to run. This is a solid car.

come on man... i remember back in the day the redcat was a good way to get into the hobby without breaking that bank.. and then i go look at the price and i feel like i should just go buy the japanese stuff .. i dont know where they are from but it just seems like if you want to drift proper, you gotta spend a little cheese to get what you need... wish this particular hobby wasnt so expensive these days..
It's the same price as my yd2... I think I'll stick with yokomo

I'd go YD2. There's more aftermarket support, more setups and more people using them so it will be easier to get help from others.

Why are manufacturers so scared of sensored systems in rtrs…
It become big while ago and had good trend upwards with old losi 22 rtrs selling with basic but capable sensored system and then it just died.
As others said, get a kit when it comes out.
Sensored systems are way more expensive
sensored is more expensive and unnecessary
Redcat isn't scared of them, they just don't use them. They are generally more expensive. And for the average RC hobbyist, they offer no advantages.
That’s bs, basic sensored hobbywing entry system costs less than what rtr manufacturers charge for their rtr standalone sensorless systems.
And they are needed, especially for drift or drag
@@Mckhus my boy even brushless isnt required for drifting. if you NEED a brushless setup then thats just a skill issue. i first started off with a barely put together d4 with a cheap hobbywing brushed system and i was drifting pretty well, even getting a d4 to drift at all is impressive

Mst is far superior but I'm sure most already know that. Body is ugly and I've had nothing but bad luck with redcats plastics and drive lines. Appreciate the content, entertaining as always.
Mst is definitely not far superior. This things on par with a base model mst. I own both and unless you own this unit and can compare then 🤦♂️🤦♂️

That stock steering angle looks horrible, and stock ride height looks to be for Off road buggie or sct out the box. Seems like quite a few mods will be needed for this chassis for someone who's wants You get What You Pay For..

That body is a huge L lol. Love to see Redcat again coming out with new stuff but for $400 you could go buy a RMX 2.0 RTR with a licensed body.

@@aacgaming9023 I’ve no clue considering I’m more of a crawler guy lol. I’ve had a RMX 2.0 in the past and just feel like it’s higher quality than Redcat. However, Redcat will definitely sell a fair few of these and I’m sure people will win comps with these. Not a hater of Redcat at all, but this one simply isn’t for me.

Please stop calling stuff Comp spec.. Its clearly not.. Could you use it in a comp? Yeah but only because you can use any RWD drift chassis in a comp if you pay to enter.. Will it be remotely competitive? No!
The chassis itself is what's competitive. We have one with upgraded electronics that keeps up with the best of them without extra chassis upgrades.
