I enjoyed the video and insight but I have a few gripes with the decisions made. Personally, I think the very first thing that should’ve been changed was the tires. If you notice the, the front tires have 3 wear lines on it, meaning it’s only touching the ground on those 3 spots. In my experience with the RDS, the tires, radio, and sensorless electronics are the biggest setbacks on the car. I didn’t feel like the servo or gyro needed to be changed but that’s just me!

I just can't get into rc drifting for some reason I have tried it and it's ok but not as fun as racing for me but it's cool and some of the cars guys build is 2-5k usd which is crazzy

That was a great video. I've got a Reve D RDX on order (and all the electronics for it sitting here ready to go) but seeing as no one knows when it's going to be back in stock, I thought i'd pick up an RTR to tide me over. it was a toss-up between this and an MST RMX 2.5, and to be honest, I still can't decide.
So, basically what you've got is a solid chasis that can scale up componants, along side skill level. But, is it enough for the noob to not get frustrated off gate, and give up? Gotta wonder if maybe raise the MSRP like $150, and go ahead and throw in a better servo, gyro, and radio? It's kind of a fine line isn't it? Giving a low enough cost to make it appealing, but giving it good enough performance to make it driveable. This is a really good video, I love it! BTW my only experience with drifting is cheap AWD parking lot drifting.
Great video. I’m rc drifting curious coming from years of being a drifting fan and 2 years on a sim. Seems like the rc drifting gives you a community feel unlike the sim world, imo. 1 year later to the party. Awesome video...watched it all 💯🙂 So what I heard, is to get a kit and buy all electronics separately 🙂 So which chassis should I then go with...redcat, mst, yokomo? 🙂
find out what is the fave at the track, what people run. that way you are joining in to a already established culture of knowledge about the platform. That's my advice. Pick the platform everyone uses. Nothing worse than your local track not having the parts you need.
@@kpopRC Thank you for the reply. They are runnig MST, so went with a 2.5s bmw e30 coupe. My first 1:1 car was a BMW e30, so that made a bit nostalgic 🙂
yeah it ended up being a long day. and most people came and went. unfortunately. depending how this does we'll do more. and i bet the guys would stay to be apart of the opinion panel.
I've seen quite a few people buy these kits as their first RWD drift car and then sell them off very early. This chassis might have potential but out of the box the rmx 2.5 is sooo much better
the gyro has a setting too i see the light is red i think if u just use the little driver to just switch the setting has to be green the gyro will have a faster return
What do you guys think is the best kit , rtr, etc, for someone highly experienced in hobbygrade rc in general but getting started into drifting. I don't want something I'll have to sell in 6 months to upgrade because it's so entry level. Preferably something respectable out of the box without having to spend a thousand dollars on day 1. Something I can upgrade as needed but is worthy of upgrading ? Does anything fit that bill ? Thanks everyone
Kind of surprised y'all took the throw money at it approach instead of just tuning it for a the polished concrete surface since it is designed as an RTR for novices to run anywhere. Before building my kit I comp'd my completely stock RTR with just some minor setup changes and it was very competitive. Also just comp'd my kit version and podiumed my local Super G round second day running the car. With just a few changes this car seems to really come alive on a dedicated drift track.
i recommend hitting your local drift track. if this is something you want to do that's where i'd start. that way you know what your local track supports. and they might even have rental cars, to just try out to see if you're actually into this enough to spend the money on it. The problem with coming into drifting with out a community, you won't know if your setup is wrong enough to hurt your learning. and i think that's mostly the reason some people dip out of rc drifting before actually feeling it out.
Great video, you really showcase that the car has a lot of potential but the out of the box setup is disappointing. A good platform to tune and perfect for a seasoned drifter but not ideal as a first car.
to be fair. most budget rtr drifters have similar issues. trying to get a drift car under 500us dollars with good electronics is tough for mass market for sure.

Cheers to beers 🍻 great vid love the tune abilities for really not that much money when you could spend up in the 1000 to 2500 for these crazy drift machines...have the bestest of days
Got into RC cars with crawlers.. always wanted a drifting RC .. think I'ma get one now for sure😁
If you can master the drift with the basic cheap system then you are the MASTER😍
or take a few short cuts and don't re invent the wheel. a beginner with this "cheap" system would be very lost with out guidance. all these guys with experience can slide this thing.
@@kpopRC that's excatly what meant, we should learn from the most basic setup 😄
I got to be honest about the setup. How hard is it to get a drifting guru to give these RTRs a little bit of secret sauce out of the box.
we're tunnel visioned on what works for smooth concrete. Redcat may have set it up for rough concrete or tarmac.
@kpopRC good point bro
Dude this was an amazingly informative video! Thank you!!!
It's nice seeing the counter steer. It's kinda lame with the other cars when it looks like an AWD drift, with the front tires straight with the car.
All 30 minutes no problemzz! Actually feel like i learned something too
Taped off the name but left the logo? Lol. Great video, really enjoyed it and learned a lot. Very cool and fun stuff y'all do.
lots of ways to tell it's a redcat. for sure.
Great video so the mx6 radio will do the gyro gain on the fly how is this done
Crushed 30👍 that body I's cool especially that color. It just needs some sick decal or added paint work to complament that gray. But that body looks like the new Nissan 400Z
1 year later to the party. Awesome video...watched it all 💯🙂
So what I heard, is to get a kit and buy all electronics separately 🙂
So which chassis should I then go with...redcat, mst, yokomo? 🙂
find out what is the fave at the track, what people run. that way you are joining in to a already established culture of knowledge about the platform.
What...kpop video on my lunch break? Gonna be a most enjoyable break today!!🍻🍻
Awesome video man!!!
Killer video and great setup tips from people who know.
Thanks very nice video, Loved watching it🎉
So I'm hearing get the kit and fit your own electronics! Plus sad was hoping for the big reveal to the guys drifting what actually was!
yeah it ended up being a long day. and most people came and went. unfortunately. depending how this does we'll do more. and i bet the guys would stay to be apart of the opinion panel.
If u look in the manual u can actually turn the slow return off on the gyro i beleive
Made it all thirty!! Good stuff.

Awesome guys
I've seen quite a few people buy these kits as their first RWD drift car and then sell them off very early. This chassis might have potential but out of the box the rmx 2.5 is sooo much better
the gyro has a setting too i see the light is red i think if u just use the little driver to just switch the setting has to be green the gyro will have a faster return
Alloy shocks are a huge upgrade... Why? what are the advantages?
the stockers stick. bad o rings, weird tolerances. they get stiff in their travel, and lock. you can push them out stiffness but it comes back.
Fuuuck, that s13 though
Great video
This might be my first Redcat.. someday
Can you do this same thing but with the mst rmx 2.0?
Which battery are you using
compared to MST RMX brushless rtr???
Price to performance it a good bit of kit. Just build it and put stuff in it from the jump.
agreed
Kind of surprised y'all took the throw money at it approach instead of just tuning it for a the polished concrete surface since it is designed as an RTR for novices to run anywhere. Before building my kit I comp'd my completely stock RTR with just some minor setup changes and it was very competitive. Also just comp'd my kit version and podiumed my local Super G round second day running the car. With just a few changes this car seems to really come alive on a dedicated drift track.
try a tighter track.
@@kpopRC This track is more open than the one I run at in Texas lol
awesome video
Would this be good for someone just getting into drifting? If not what do you recommend ?
i recommend hitting your local drift track. if this is something you want to do that's where i'd start. that way you know what your local track supports. and they might even have rental cars, to just try out to see if you're actually into this enough to spend the money on it. The problem with coming into drifting with out a community, you won't know if your setup is wrong enough to hurt your learning. and i think that's mostly the reason some people dip out of rc drifting before actually feeling it out.
Hey man way off topic I ordered a hpi baja after your video on it and still nothing. You got any inside info on where they’re at? Love your videos!!
no idea. from cardinal racing?
Love the video 👍
Great video, you really showcase that the car has a lot of potential but the out of the box setup is disappointing. A good platform to tune and perfect for a seasoned drifter but not ideal as a first car.
to be fair. most budget rtr drifters have similar issues. trying to get a drift car under 500us dollars with good electronics is tough for mass market for sure.
that gyro animation had me laughing way too hard
im glad some one finally mentioned it. lol. the greek salad in the bg is pretty sweet easter egg too. lol.
Does the sanwa receiver run on AA battery pack + switch? Where do i buy it if so?
every receiver can run on a aa battery pack and switch. the reciever doesn't care where it gets it's 5v to 7v from.
That guy looks like Jang from that old youtube channel.
super miami vice vbes. Love nezo, dudes a legend.
@@kpopRC did he use to run his own channel on here?
I crushed all 33 minutes
great video.
good to see people pushing this car.
i know... im behind on comments hahahaha.
i get busy, plus trying to run my own channel hahahahaha. though like anything your videos are way better on a big screen smart tv.
hahaha
great work man
Hahahahaha
Can it be.... well it can be rather nice i mean it took like 2 years of building n breaking... then breaking itself n upgrading but now my do everything redcat is awesome.
Crushed the 30 brotha haha
Nezo🙌🙌
The only problem is the kit not totally always available and I'm having hard time to get legit site outside U.S to purchase this RC car.
not sure how to help. unless you're in canada.
Great review I was thinking about buying one of these vs the yokomo rd2 which comes with a gyro
But damn UA-cam 7 advertisements for a 33 min video is way too much
hey man. it takes a lot of work to make videos like this. the least you can do is support me by watching ads. you're not paying me anything for this content and neither is redcat. you're not even subscribed.
@kpopRC no way I'm not I always watch your vids bro
And I watch all the damn adds cause I wouldn't finish the video if I didn't but Fook 7 adds in a 33 min video is crazy
Would be awesome to do a lowrider jumping video or a motocross bike one or on road bike
Keep up the good work and keep em coming and checking if I liked the vids so going back to get those likes in
I got ya bro
thanks brother! i appreciate you watching
