Yes, it works and fits into a tiny space so it's definitely an option. It handles surprisingly well too.

Yes it casts fine as long as the backing doesn't get tangled up in vegetion.
Way better. I’ve had the Chinese ones also. Complete rubbish. After I went through a couple of the Chinese ones. An some searching.
I picked up two of his backpacker versions that’s a 6’2” rod I believe with the spinner reels. Actually some really decent spinner reels. The reel handle folds down. And can be put on the left or right side. They’re very smooth for the price. $59 for the combo. Pole and reel. An I’ve put a bunch of mileage in both of them me and the wife.
Just actually ordered the fly rod and reel today after being sold on the quality of the last two rods. Still using them to this day. Picked them up early 2021. An I live on the water. So it’s easy for me to fish. Just walk out back. So my miles on it is definitely high. Bs someone having to drive out to somewhere when they have the time to ect.
But ordered the fly combo this time. An a bait caster reel along with it. To have more choices.
Definitely bomber lil kits for the price. Completely blown away by the quality.
The feel of the Chinese one can’t hold a candle to this one. Just as good as some other spinner reels I’ve used on actual regular poles.

Just picked me up one. Already have 2 of his backpacker extreme 6’2” or something spinner rods. Definitely top quality.
Ready to give the fly rod a go soon as it comes out.
Also picked up the bait caster reel since I already had the spinners to have the ability to go either route.
I thought they went out of business. But ended up able to get them through email and on the phone for my order their website has just been down for a few days. Still is at the moment. But he did say they’re still in business and working to get it back online.
An ya also 100% spot on. The Chinese ones. Are really pretty much junk. The quality just isn’t there. That’s what led me to find his.
An I’ve put some miles on both of mine and their going strong. Never had a lick of any issues
