There is one aspect to suicide prevention that I never hear anyone talk about.
That is the fear of having one's choice taken away if they admit to thinking about suicide. For many people talking about it brings the fear of having one's freedom taken away. The worry that someone will call the cops and they'll put you in a mental hospital or a holding tank, etc. The fear that it goes on your permanent record and people will always be watching you. You may be permanently labeled "A danger to themselves".
People will keep things to themselves and go through a lot to avoid that.

It is the first time I see a comment so true about suicide ... When you admit your are suicidal to society, your greatest fear is to labelled for your entire life as unstable and be trapped into a mechanism that you do not understand but that takes your freedom away .

Sometimes I feel like if you have that one person who notices your mental state actually does the opposite of what the desired or expected outcome.Preventing suicide of many ppl is a tricky thing because ppl have different views on life and living in society. If one person who feels they generally trying to help that person out they may fail because the person they’re helping may take it the wrong way.

I absolutely agree with you. I never really understood the need that some people seem to have to comment on others appearance. To pull out your cellphone in order to take a picture, just to let someone - who isn't even there know your judgmental fucking opinion about the way someone looks? that is really fucked up and pathetic. What is the big deal about shaming overweight people? I mean, they know they are overweight. It's certainly not anyone else's problem. It's just as fucked up as to shame or make fun of someone with bi-polar disorder or depression. "Shut the fuck up!" Indeed.

I've been suicidal off-and-on for almost 5 years now. I keep finding small things to live for - movies I want to see, streamers, new episodes of shows I like, etc.
It really doesn't get better for everyone, though. I'm not that naive.

One other "little moment" (escapism) is being present to the moment, which is the state of non-thinking. It happens when you are checking if you're breathing/focusing intensely on inhaling and exhaling...which calms you down...look up "the power of now" by éckartole and look up "present to the moment rsdfreetour"

I worked at a restaurant when I was in high school and was a cook. A kid a couple of class behind me also worked there. A night I looked to the dish washing area where he worked and he was eating out of the bus tubs. I went to my manager and told her to give him all my meals for the week and take it off my check. It made me fell so good to help someone in need. Love your show boogie keep it up!

I heard from a friend that some of your videos like this were demonetized. (Maybe this was one of them.) By that, I come to think that UA-cam is promoting suicide and self-half. How many people do you think this video has helped? I think this video has saved dozens, if not hundreds, of lives and i thank you for that. So UA-cam, why are you doing this? These videos are HELPING PEOPLE. They are SAVING PEOPLE. UA-cam, you better fix this whole mess you've made, because I, personally, am disgusted by what you've done. boogie, we all appreciate what you and other tubers like you do, so please, don't stop.

The last time I was severely depressed it was because I was in love with someone that broke up with me and I felt I couldn't move on with my life. I thought everything you can think of that is encouraging and heard what people said. It didn't help. I listened to break up songs and had a pity party. Tried to fake it like I was all better, and I was in pain inside. I am over them enough to live my life, but I still miss them and wonder about them sometimes. But yeah life has ups and downs.

Right words man... I was in counseling one day and it was my shittest day when she did "dig up" all bad things from my teen ages when I did have very bad eye sight. Before counseling I had forgotten all things. People, keep positive attitude, if someone have now bad times, allways remember that better day will come. PS: My eye sight is now normal and I used to be construction worker and now I am studying to be a batchler of construction management...

push past the depression even harder when its hard by doing something active, whether its through talking to people in general conversation or whatever makes you feel happy (not momentarily happy such as playing a game). I have had depression and anxiety (maybe severe I believe) although I have not seen a GP or physologist. So I have learned (for me) that if I talk more in convosations, I can feel myself getting happier and a sense of wellbeing like a snowball effect and its an amazing feeling.

My biggest problem is that I have avoidant personality disorder, witch makes things a bit difficult for me. I have a problem when it's comes to be able to trust someone.
I guess being abused and bullied for years and years leaves it's mark on a human being.
I feel depressed and I don't know what to do. I've tried to make things better for myself, but I always end up in the evil circle.

Suicide is not something can control. But, few have overcome their minds to listen their hearts. Hearts don't stop beating. See the movie "The Patroits" starring Mel Gibson. One brave's family lost his wife & a child boy. He immediately pulled the trigger to his brain. The Preacher tried to explained to him "Time is for mourn." The World stop every time there is a suicide. I'm glad I see the Sun every morning. Always there to comfort me. & the Rock is my Hope.

I know just what you've been talking about. I was close to jump in front of a train once, just because the lack of hope. My depression was so deep that I couldn't imagine a future, or something happy at all. My guilt stopped me to do it, I couldn't stand to know that someone would suffer because of my selfish act. After a couple months i snapped out of it.
Tip to you guys: when you are feeling most sad and depressed, find someone and let them guard other you, or stupid things will happen.

That stuff leaves its marks, no doubt. It's most likely a lot easier to talk to others that have similar experiences as you do. It can be very difficult to break a circle like that all on your own, but you don't have to do it on your own. There are people you can talk to, but it can be tough to actually take that step and contact them. Two sites called unsuicide and befrienders (their helplines) got some other alternatives if you don't feel like meeting someone face to face just yet.

the theory of law of attraction is that instead of wanting, put your energy into what you wish for, feel how you would feel if you had it, the fact you had no hope left at these phases was like an energy slingshot when you saw your newly found chances of grasping what you have now, the source of energy you positively felt attracted these experiences into your life, in turn allowing you to perform what you once couldn't to achieve them, see what I mean here? :)

I learned from an Abnormal Psych class that hope is the last line of defense. Once someone feels hopelessness, their chances of following through with suicide increases. If there is someone out there who feels like hope is lost, it is not! I promise you...there is hope out there, you gotta look deep down and find it! There is always a person out there who can give it to you.

  •  12 років тому

It`s your job if you care about that person and if you have a little bit of simpathy, even you`ll just try to help someone, to make a difference, but also that person who your talking to and tryin` to help, must help you, must open herself for you, so you could do something about her problems. And if that person is just stubborn and won`t listen, that`s her problem, but it`s still nice thing to show up your good will...that`s all.

Boogie, on Sept 28th, all my friends and I wrote love on our wrists. A bunch of other kids @ our school did too. My best friend is bi, and my favorite uncle is gay. I don't understand why some people just don't understand that beneath all of our beliefs and flesh, we're still only human. I respect people based by WHO they are UNDER their skin and sexuality, not things they cannot control. I DO NOT judge people by their weight. But I have hope because of my friends and people like you. Thanks.

I love the idea of suicide prevention and suicide prevention awareness, but it gets a lot of attention for a while but then fades away quickly. Many ideas like that end up like that too. Take Kony 2012 for instance. :/
    Great vid, Boogie!

Love that someone Like Francis would take the time out of the comedy he posts to make a difference.

Suicide is a long-term solution to a short term problem. Stay strong. It may not seem worth it now to keep pushing on, but keep in mind there is something, or someone worth living for, and if you get to the point where you don't want to push on, don't even think about going out without trying to talk to those people who you may want to hang out with, and talking to a therapist.

Suicide prevention is ineffective, I am sorry. What really need to know is how our current society plays a big role in the increase of suicide rate.
