MJ should have for a second thought Peter wasn’t coming back and tried to start dating Paul, but the SECOND she found out it’s only been a few hours for him, she should have said “see ya, Paul,” and came back with Peter! Paul falling for MJ and being a jealous ex could make him an interesting antagonist. But instead they’ve made MJ also an antagonist to Peter. Just awful.

MJ + Powers has never equaled anything that has really worked imo. Even Spinneret was iffy for me. MJ already has a double-life in her own personal life with how she’s a very different person on the inside than she is on the outside. Giving her powers not only ruins the point of that, but it down plays it too. Not every Spider-Man supporting character needs powers
I agree. I do like Spinneret tho, only because that’s an elseworlds story if you get me? I like the idea of exploring MJ with powers just not in the main continuity where her character has already had stakes built around her and her character is already well developed.
This is just awful - this is isn't Mary Jane, you might as well call her "Molly Jo" because this isn't the same character we all know and love. This Jackpot concept was DOA since it's announcement, but since they already did the advertisement amd announcements, they had to "commit to what they promised", even though if you ask me, no one would bat an eye if they didn't.

I did like her as Spinneret in Renew your Vows. I just don't know about Jackpot. If anything I wouldn't mind MJ being a mutant(some nothing big power) forcing Peter to do more with the X-Men. Finally getting them back together. Maybe even making their kid more of a spider power based mutant to make it different from the other universe since they are here to stay.
To be fair, he always worked with the X-Men. Even when he was a reserved member of the Avengers, he still interacted with the X-Men more. Up until he joined the New Avengers. He even said in the 08-09 X-Men/Spider-Man miniseries that they work so well together cause they’re the outcasts. The world typically didnt like Spider-Man or the X-Men as much as they did Daredevil and the Fantastic Four. Hell it’s also the main reason Spidey & Hulk get along so well.
This is kinda what I was hoping for in X-Men ‘97, as a tie in Arc to Spider-Man ‘98!
Serious question, is Felicia’s definition of Bisexuality dating Peter and dating random girls when not dating Peter? When’s the last time she dated a guy that wasn’t Peter?
The girl she is dating in this series is not a complete stranger.
She also starred in Jed mckay's Black Cat series.
I think Felicia is somehow forced in this relationship.

Just kind of feels like Marvel wanted Felicia to be an outright lesbian but couldn’t because of her past history showing her being in love with/obsessed with Peter. When’s the last time she’s been in a relationship with a man that wasn’t Peter?
Just kind of annoying when comic book companies state that a character is Bisexual but only ever show them with one sex.

Jackpot does seem like a Sony "Spider-Man Universe WITHOUT Spider-Man" movie. Other than Venom, Morbius, Madame Web and probably Kraven the Hunter are duds; Sony waste the cast- "Morbius" I like Jared Leto, wasted; "Madame Web" starring appealing Dakota Johnson AND "It Girl" Sidney Sweeney?!-Dud, script written by Comittee.
"Jackpot" would be typical Sony Debacle. Cast a Physically Comic-Accurate Mary-Jane Watson but NO Peter Parker, reference Spider-Man in passing, if at all then her love interest would be Paul the Weasel. Waste the character of Mary-Jane Watson so she'd never appear again in the movies.

Why do this writers hate pete so much ?
I think Jackpot would have been more palatable if Peter and MJ were still together and we explored how they learned to work together in this new dynamic while also giving MJ a new perspective on what Peter has to deal with as Spider-man. Kind of like how when Electra was Daredevil and had to defend Hell’s Kitchen while Matt was in prison.
To be fair, MJ shouldn't have become a superhero with the word she said to Peter Parker because it character assassinates her history with Pete because it makes no sense. She's trying to prove she isn't a damsel in distress even though she still is.

The funny thing is MJ was never a Damsel in Distress until the Raimi movies turned her into one. Even the 90’s animated series, she had to be saved sometimes but not much as Felicia Hardy had to be. She’s not Lois Lane, constantly looking for trouble. She stayed out of it. The only villains who ever threatened Mary Jane were Venom and Green Goblin (Harry). The two villains who knew she was Spider-Man’s wife.

What if they're trying to give ALL of spidey's girlfriends powers just to make them more interesting? We've had black cat for many years, but she's totally understandable. She always had powers. Spider gwen, while it's a crazy idea, she became popular because of the spiderverse films, and now she's a fan favorite character. And now it's totally normal for her to have powers. But MJ?! That's where I draw the line.

Spinneret is the definitive exception to this video; as long as it’s used sporadically, then I don’t have a problem with MJ having powers.
Absolutely 100% agree. Spinneret is okay because it’s an elseworlds story, whereas giving MJ powers in the 616 universe where her character is already built on interesting foundations is stupid.

honestly this book was fun mary jane having superpowers isn't even a new development spinneret I just question what she does as a dual identity and other superheroes were given superpowers before honestly if this was written better would'nt be that bad.
Contrary to what the powers-that-be at Marvel(& DC) probably think: not every character should be given superpowers, not every female character works as a lead hero, & some female characters only work best as *SUPPORTERS* for male characters(in this particular instance, MJ for Peter Parker).
I think the writers' goal of separating Mary Jane from Peter is to introduce a Zendaya who is Peter's new partner and whose name is MJ.
in conclusion we need a reverse flash just for paul (God I hate this story and ucm shit, I was happy before reading this spider-man arc)

I really don’t like MJ’s costume. The colors, the weird rings, and the overall design are just painful to look at for me.

I feel like the issue with Paul is he was never a character he was just a plot device to make Peter's life worse that was masquerading as a character. Now that he's served that purpose they have to go "oh right this guy. What is his personality again?". Mary Jane's powers are unnecessary, but I do like luck based powers. My only issue is I havent found too much on what exactly they do? Are they rules for how it works or is it just the writers just put whatever they think fits? Cause I think powers like that work best when there are predetermined outcomes that she can get. Like how in Ben 10 sometimes you see him get an alien that completely doesn't fit the situation. Really helps show how the character is capable even when luck isn't on their side

I liked MJ with powers in Renew your Vows. But there's a difference Renew Your Vows actually had some good writing. Hell even Ultimate Spider-Man when it gave MJ the Carnage Symbiote and she became Spider Woman was a cool idea too. Just for the love of god they should've kept 616A MJ away from the powers but no of course not

Like how did Paul hack into stuff like isn’t he an inventor & also why isn’t there any struggle when Mj use her powers? Like that’s a good joke when you said, when she has the ability to spray Coca-Cola through her nostrils (😂😂). But anyway what this issue needs is struggles, no struggles no character growth. But you know what, either way this type of comic would still stick.

I like the costume and I do think mj having powers would/can/and has worked, it just should be done through a big moment that makes it feel like she earned them, she would have to deal with things differently than peter sense shes more in the public eye. Luck based powers can be really cool if used properly, but why have the roulette wheel if you aren't going to add in that chance aspect? I am disappointed.

She may not need super powers but they don't hurt, the main problem is the nature and origin of her powers. She has had powers before multiple times.
Yeah but the point is, her character doesn’t need them. What if stories where MJ has powers like Spinneret in RNV I believe is completely fine. But main line continuity MJ completely negates why the character is special. It takes a certain type of laziness from a writing team to give a very interesting character superpowers instead of trying to tell stories that would expand upon their layers of storytelling past.

Another great video, but I couldn't disagree more about it being nice for Felciia to date Emilia.,and I thought issue # 2 of "The Spectacular Spider-Men (TSSM)" was terrible. It must be a generational thing as I'm in my 60s. I started following Spider-Man in 1967 with the 1st cartoon and then began following "The Amazing Spider-Man (TASM) "comic in 1969.
I must have missed the issue where Felicia Hardy is bisexual. Was this when she was a crime lord/lady during the 1st "Superior Spider-Man (SSM" run? This is an insult to Spider-Man. It's soo much better dating Emilia than dating Peter. How much more will the current Spider-Man comics humiliate and disrespect Peter Parker/Spider-Man? It's intolerable. "I believe "Jackpot and The Black Cat" is a mini-series? Because if it's not, then this book won't last twenty issues. The other burning question is by setting up Felicia as a bisexual character will she finally be in a bi/lesbian relationship with MJ or will Paul be the envy of every man or comic character being in an FMF relationship with MJ and Felicia? "Whiskey Tango Foxtrot". I'll discontinue following "ASM" for good if this happens.
The "TSSM" second issue isn't much better, IMO. I guess that's an alternate universe than "ASM". I'm still going to follow issue # 3 because I'm interested in seeing how Weisman screws up the date between Peter and Gwen Stacy and how he portrays the date between Miles Morales with Kamala Kahn/Ms. Marvel on their date. If Gwen isn't "Spider-Gwen", I'll be disappointed. Subscribers to this channel must know the plot to issue # 3. It's still a wait-and-see process for "USM" and" TSSM". "USM's" 4th issue lacked action, but I think Hickman was using that issue for character development for future storylines. Keep up the great work, Cheers.

There was a suggested rape scène of Black Cat ans a super powered drug lord.
During that series there were flashbacks of her having relations with a female character.

@@MILOPETIT I don't have any issue if a comic character is LGBTQIA+, but I do when all of a sudden the character's sexuality has changed. I've followed Spider-Man comics since 1969. The Black Cat was introduced in 'TASM 194" in July 1979. One month after I graduated High School. Back then she wasn't Bu. However, my main issue with her dating this Emiulia character is the disrespect it conveys to Peter Parker/Spider-Man. It soo much better to date this new character than being with Peter. Such garbage, IMO. I'm a huge fan of SpiderCat, and this isn't what I want to see. Yet Marvel has ruined Spider-Man to a point of no return with the Zeb Wells run and I believe this is irreparable damage. If you're a fan of Felcia being bi and thin this relationship with Emilia is nice, that's your prerogative, but I don't like it. It's a generational thing as I mentioned before.
Bought issue 1 and 2, skimmed through it and never understood why she has powers, she dislikes Peter and left him cause of those powers he has and now that she has it kinda somehow made their breakup even worse now thinking about it
