DUDE YOU'RE ABSOLUTELY RIGHT! - The Tomorrowverse was some of the most forgettable DCA Movies I've ever watched, the only one I enjoyed was bits of Long Halloween and some of Man of Tomorrow. - And Thank you for bringing the VA stuff to the front as well, so many of my friends go "Yo did you see X celebrity is voicing this character in the animated movie/serie!" without realizing how much better true VA's are, not to say that Actors cant do good VA work, but most of the time its just kinda like you said, simply a way to generate more buzz..
I'm so happy I'm not the only one who noticed the weird pauses in dialogue in the Tomorrowverse movies. It always felt so awkward, like they were trying to be very dramatic by making you listen harder to what they were saying. I like your explanation better, though. Great video!
Thanks for the heads up! I'd been putting off the movies in the "Tomorrow-verse" catalogue for after my master's finished, and now I guess I'm not gonna bother with them, cuz from what you're describing, that's exactly the reason why I don't watch mainstream shows/cartoon movies with mindless plot, expecting to earn from either nostalgia, or A-list names, just cash-grabs. And I'm very disappointed with the VA casting news as well. So upsetting. The last DC movie I watched was Aplokolips War, which was just mind-blowing, and of course so so traumatising! I was looking forward to mainly the Green Lantern movie and the Crisis on Infinite Earths movies but oh well...
My brother was the one who pointed out the stilted animation. I watched Crisis and then watched Batman Mask of the Phantasm back-to-back. I don't know how but Phantasm's animation is so much better that it's not even funny. It's like the DC animation team decided to quit in the 2000s. Speaking of which, if you want to watch a good animated DC film, check out Phantasm. It is easily the best Batman film including the live action ones too.
Also the art style. When the Man of Tomorrow came out, I actually liked the art style, I think it's unique and kinda go back to 2D instead of always a little bit of 3D like. But then, when every single film in tomorrowverse have the same art style, I am tired of it. I wish we had more different art styles. Even sometimes I don't like it but it's still better than now.
Genuinely, that animated Green Lantern movie (and KTJL) made me appreciate the Green Lanterns (and how good their comic lore was) enough to research them to see how they were bastardized
Are you talking about beware my power? I just want to tell you, that the story is actually not the true John Stewart origin, it's Kyle Rayner's origin, idk why they stole it and idk why they change John's story. Also i hate what they do to my boy Hal... why can't DC just make a movie about GL without putting other GL down?
I feel like James Gunn and his crew had a hand in rushing the tomorrowverse to be rushed in order to prevent any confusion with his animated series and possibly movies. Everything felt rushed and out of place after the justice society movie
At least we got DCAMU from 2013 to 2020 I am happy And satisfied with that Obviously I want more but as Flash's mother said We shouldn't whine about things we can't change
I actually really liked the newer stuff. And what’s interesting is that it did exactly what Snyder was trying to do. All the Darkseid stuff happened, but the flash messed with time and things kept changing until everything was as fixed. I loved how it was basically all from Flash’s POV. Great movies, somewhat different storytelling (somewhat), and it didn’t ignore all that came prior which I REALLY appreciated. I liked the animation, too. It stood out just enough.
i stand by anything they do with their dark universe is gold, i dont even really care about their main animated continunity with the flash point but my god anytime i get to see constantine animated, it's fucking gold
You're very cool to listen to! I'm not a big DC fan. But I did enjoy a lot of the movies from the Apokolips timeline. Hell, they made me love teen Titans! Then I watched Crisis on Infinite Earth, 1st part. My god, what a horrible movie. Dropped the whole thing and thought "hey, at least DC had a good run before that". I had no idea there had been so many movies between Apokolips and this one. I was interested in a couple of them, but frankly, if even DC fans say it's bad, I don't think it's worth watching.
What i hatred more about the Crisis is that it lacks Superboy Prime who was a huge player in the storyline and could have lead to Infinite Crisis , except the only reason they made Crisis event animation just to erase everything you know about DC animation and because of James Gunn's DCU
I’m surprised you haven’t mentioned how they gutted their whole DC animated catalog. They wiped Teen Titans and Superfriends and the DCAU out of existence. People grew up with that shit and it’s just gone. I mean I get that they won’t be updated again, but why destroy it when it could be preserved?
Because they’re talentless hacks that can’t create anything near what the DCAU was and who built it. So they destroy it for some cheap member berry’s even though they didn’t earn it. It shines a light on how pathetic they are compared to the old writers and animators.
That was stupid of them, but also non-canon... or at least it was a paradox. DCAU continues in Batman Beyond, so, Batman TAS is not really ending in the way this shitty movie shows.
@@mrhopadopalus no. But it does give the impression that Warner Discovery hates it when their superhero shows are good. Unless they Avengers Endgame this shit.

Man the DCAMU was a great fucking era of animated movies for me. I remember everytime a new movie would drop, I would tune in as soon as it was available online, watched pretty much every film. The fact that the movies were all interconnected in the same world was always a big plus for me because we got to see these characters change and evolve over multiple films. Once Apokolips War came out and the universe ended, I was definitely a little sad that it wasn't going to continue on, on top of the fact that it ended on a rather somber note with the heroes winning but at the cost of losing pretty much everyone they cared about. I tried to give Tomorrowverse a chance, but it just wasn't really doing it for me, from the animation style to the storytelling not really feeling very cohesive.
As the DC is totally rebooted and we can see how crazy the Absolute Universe Superheroes are from the Comics . I am now just waiting for the next animated movie or show based on Absolute Universe . 😍🔥
I'm not lying when I say this: I spent years looking for new dcamu movies, like I saw apokolips war, but for some reason I still had it in my mind that they would keep making the movies, or that apokolips war wasn't cannon or anything, and then I found out that crisis on infinite earths was coming out in three parts and it was at this point that I found out there was a whole different animated universe they were working on. how have I not known about this??
I was trying to watch warworld and I was just waiting for the main story. Got past the wonder woman stuff and just stopped watching it. I was wondering why the introduction was literally 1/3 of the movie.
This is a pretty good illustration of why I am, without shame, a 'filthy casual'. When it comes to the DC animated movies and comics. I just skip around only paying attention to what stories sound cool to me and then ignore anything else that doesn't seem appealing. Both New 52 Animated cinematic universe and the tomorrowverse were mixed bags, with some movies I thought were cool, some were just fine, and some I just read the plot summery for and said "not interested". I hope they finally ditch trying to connect everything in a big cinematic universe and go back to trying out different art styles, adapting different comics without worrying how they would connect, and giving different actors a chance at the rolls. That was cool. If I wanted longer form story telling, I'd just stick a tv show or a longer comic run.
I loved watching DCAU movies as they were perfect. But stopped watching them around 5 years ago and was wondering if I should watch what's been released since then. Thanks for saving me from a great torture and disappointment.
The random pauses KILLED me. No soundtrack, no sound design, no motion on screen, no nothing. Just like 15-20 seconds between lines in a back and forth conversation. It feels like 2 actors in separate rooms reading lists of lines, not people talking
@@josef.ramoss.8457 When I'm having a conversation I don't just stop and stare at the person for like 15 seconds before I respond. And also if there are these pauses bump up the sound design, get some score in there, have more background animation or facial animation. You know when you watch the news and they switch from the anchor in the studio to the reporter on the street and the anchor says "and now for our reporter who's at the protest" and the reporter just stares at the camera for like 10 seconds because it takes a bit for for the anchor's last line to get to him? And Thank you for bringing the VA stuff to the front as well, so many of my friends go "Yo did you see X celebrity is voicing this character in the animated movie/serie!" without realizing how much better true VA's are, not to say that Actors cant do good VA work, but most of the time its just kinda like you said, simply a way to generate more buzz..
The tommorowverse was like a mandate from on high to make all the animated features lower quality in every way.
I'm so happy I'm not the only one who noticed the weird pauses in dialogue in the Tomorrowverse movies. It always felt so awkward, like they were trying to be very dramatic by making you listen harder to what they were saying. I like your explanation better, though. Great video!
The DCAMU…in MY opinion, every. Single. Movie was absolutely amazing
Fantastic video about dc animated films, i really like your style and hope your channel continues to grow!
This vid was entertaining and funny on every level, nice job and keep and up the good work!
I enjoyed it
I feel like James Gunn and his crew had a hand in rushing the tomorrowverse to be rushed in order to prevent any confusion with his animated series and possibly movies. Everything felt rushed and out of place after the justice society movie
They should’ve separated the animated universe to Gunn’s live action.
WB is narrowing down their creative options.
Dude, you are 100% correct. Thanks for expressing my thoughts. So disappointed in the Crisis adaptation
we in it together bro
Brooooo you spoke MY heart and mind out in this video........kudos to you👏❤
Let's hope they can recover soon, but without an animated universe related to Gunn
Someone had to say it, and I’m glad you did. Hope they fix the problem soon.
At least we got DCAMU from 2013 to 2020 I am happy And satisfied with that Obviously I want more but as Flash's mother said We shouldn't whine about things we can't change
“You won’t be able to choke any of them”🤣🤣🤣
I actually really liked the newer stuff.
Never lied about that 🔥
You're very cool to listen to!
This particular critique of the recent dcau movies earned you a sub
2:41 i was dying this part😭
Great takes. I have not seen the new DC Animated films yet but now I will
I kinda wish they did more Justice League Unlimited movies.
bro omg
the fact that they made a 3 PART CRISIS MOVIES and I didnt even heard about it is insane.
I didn't know the tommorow verse existed till like a month ago, they really didn't advertise these
Yeah they don't deserve advertisement 😤
6:44 EXACTLY. from the first movie in the tomorrowverse I couldn't get over that. What was that?
OMG this review is so raw but dude preach! You're 💯 correct. I would love to see the DCAMU come back strong.
DCAU continues in Batman Beyond, so, Batman TAS is not really ending in the way this shitty movie shows.
thought this was a movie reference to teen titans and other dc ip erased from the antimmater in the crisis trilogy
Are you under the impression clearing them in the crissis animated movie means they are erasing these show in real life?
@@mrhopadopalus no. But it does give the impression that Warner Discovery hates it when their superhero shows are good. Unless they Avengers Endgame this shit.
Under The Red Hood was peak!
DCAMU is the prime universe for me, for portraying 97% of DC characters, having a consistent flow of events, and having very good writing for all characters.
Young Justice season 1&2 were peak animated style and storytelling
It's saddening because the Tomorrowverse had a lot of potential. The first 3 movies were great. Then Green Lantern showed up, I thought it was just one bad movie out of many good ones to come but oh boy was I wrong.
The saddest thing about that Tomorrowverse GL movie is that the writer was John Semper. The guy wrote Spider-Man TAS
There were two awesome Green Lantern animated movies before Beware my Power so I wouldn't say the GLC really has that much bad luck they just need to write them right
What are they
@@LanternOwens39 Green Lantern: First Flight and Green Lantern: Emerald Knights.
The former is a modification of both Hal Jordan's Origins and Sinestro's transformation into the first yellow lantern.
Story is rather boring, The characters are a delight and the fight scenes are a spectacle.
Just...... This was from back then when PG-13 really pushed things, So expect some horrific imagery.
Great video, man! Had a lot of the exact same criticisms that I covered in my review of these Crisis movies. Very therapeutic to hear someone else having the same experience with them. Keep up the good work dude, I love the channel!
2:44 YOU A GODDAMN REAL ONE🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Introducing: The Tomorrowverse Batman, he got:
Ambushed by the Mad Hatter
Overpowered by Harvey Dent
Ambushed again by........SOLOMON GRUNDY
Got surprised attack by a Nazi using feat toxin
I'll say one thing about Arrowverse.... Brendan came back with the BEST Superman Suit ive seen in forever
The only way to save the DCAMU is to make a snowflame movie. Trust me man
You know im not really a DC fan but something like that would win me over
cocaine comeback
It wasn't, after Flashpoint it was basically a dceu but with an (forced) ending
@@josef.ramoss.8457funny. Considering it's looks more enjoyable than the actual dceu
@@Spantzcatdog even arrowverse is better than the dceu
As the DC is totally rebooted and we can see how crazy the Absolute Universe Superheroes are from the Comics .
I am now just waiting for the next animated movie or show based on Absolute Universe . 😍🔥
Soon as I saw the artstyle with bold outlines I just new my time is done. They look like they belong in CN
Bro literally pointed out every thought I've had about these movies.
6:40, So I'm not the only one who noticed this. Awesome.
What have you done!!! Now I can't stop noticing those random pauses
I was trying to watch warworld and I was just waiting for the main story. Got past the wonder woman stuff and just stopped watching it. I was wondering why the introduction was literally 1/3 of the movie.
Please don't remind me of that nightmare....I was beginning to forget it
This is a pretty good illustration of why I am, without shame, a 'filthy casual'.
Yeeeah the tomorrowverse had weird pacing with those pauses.
Don't agree, those pauses make them more natural and realistic, realistic in the sense of perception from our world, not the edgy meaning.
That's what it feels like
@@pianist150 the news requires to be quick, not an normal conversation, also not 15 seconds, 5 or 6 to make the moment more natural, not all the people talk fast, sometimes they are thinking before talk or trying to express before the actual answer.
The sound Design is because budget getting lower thanks for Zaslav
@@josef.ramoss.8457 let’s say it’s 5 seconds, irl the person isn’t staring back idly. They start smirking, looking away, their eyes go up while they think, they readjust, if we’re going for more natural you can’t just take the part where they pause, animate them more. It’s just not cinematic.
I fell asleep in all 3 Crisis on Infinite Earth movies. The concept was so interesting but the dialogue and animation was so lackluster I just couldn't take it. I thought I had lost my interest in animated movies but I went back and watched some old DC animated movies before the tomorrow verse and they were still interesting to watch.
me - have a happy ending or draw 24
dc: draws 24 without hesitation
Your passion and (a hate to admit it but) agreeing to your opinion, you get a like and share!! I saw the exact same issues
I miss the DCAU Crisis movies, the style, and that time period along with the other seperate universe one time movies
It's so tragic, the animation style and the character designs are soo freaking good 😢😢😢
What a waste mehn
Also the Spider-Man PS4 actor was apparently doing all that in MOCAP so idk if that counts as voice acting. Unless there was ADR for that particular scene. Of course there was ADR for all the rest of the game which wasn't cutscenes.
You nailed it. One of my legitimate pet peeves about these movies is the voice acting just isn’t good. Please give these roles back to voice actors. Every since Andrea Romano retired as the voice director it’s been all down hill
Honorable mentions alongside Justice league Superman and Batman. Animated series would be Zeta Project and static shock.
Thanks for this video, the last movie I saw and bought was Superman Man of Tomorrow! I got all the others before that physical but stop, now I will watch them on streaming.
I’ve been a professional voice actor for 25+ years. Thank you for your rant!
You're totally correct man, they messed up progressively
Good thing, i love DC so much that i rewatch the old animations related contents all over again and never get to the Tomorowverse.(Except for Batman: the long halloween, cause i can't resist a Batman movie)😅.
Man, the old ones, they're still enjoyable.
I knew it was going downhill when I didn’t fuck with Constantine’s new look like why tf he look like that and everyone else is all smooth looking???
Imo it all went downhill after Flashpoint Paradox. I get genuinely frustrated & question someones taste when they say they thought Apokolips War was good/cool.
No really compared to to live action stuff. I mean sure it was flawed, but atleast it has to memorable and enjoyable
AW was only good for the shock factor, but you're right about FP being the final high water mark.
@@mojomogul atleast New 52 inspired film universe from Flashpoint to Akopolis War were more enoyable and less forgettable despite having problems. Way better than majority of DC's live action stuff. Tommoroverse didn't even have proper time to shine and just straight up forgettable. Now that DC studios exist, we might get more memorable and enjoyable DC animated stuff.
You could at least explain what you disliked about these movies, instead of just insulting others.
that spiderman guy moaned
I’m glad that tomorrow or yesterday verse is over. The old shows are “TheGOAT”
8:59 words can’t describe the visceral validation I felt when you talked about not giving a fuck about the dinosaurs. Literally why tf were they THERE
The dynamic duo end their era . Rest in peace Kevin Conroy.
