We got this in my wind ensemble today and all of the clarinet parts play this. I think I might be able to do them after many hours of practicing but I am externally worried that my band director will regret giving out this piece, just because of us. 😂
Ahhh I played the xylo part on this a few years back during my undergrad (bachelor in percussion performance). It's tricky but fun as hell once you get it. Biggest piece of advice I can give is to stay loose. You will probably feel a tendency to tense up your forearms in anticipation of playing so fast, and then probably end up playing faster than the woodwinds. Stay loosey-goosey! Hell, have a drink if you have to. Haha. Good luck!
I am playing this as a second trumpet part and as fast as it is it is so great! My band director even turned the Melody at bar 249 into a second trumpet/first cornet duet which is awesome because I get the duet part for the trumpet part :~D
Oh boy, you stepped into it, didn't you? Honestly, the best thing I can suggest is practice. Once you learn what all the notes are, start to up the tempo until you can match it up. Just make sure you fall in line with those flutes, they play the exact same thing. Luckily, as you'll find, most of the runs are the exact same thing, so that lessens the load some. Even the run before the end repeats some. Good luck! And remember to have fun!
First trombone - this song is a cake walk
First clarinet is a tough one.
Tuba part is tough.
I can attest to that. My poor fingers 😂

The runs are the same for all the clarinets, there’s the grace notes in first and second clarinet which make it harder than third clarinet though
Tchaikovsky's secret masterpiece
