Doing tenor solo on this tommorow 🙏
I can't hear this without recalling the bawdy lyrics we made up in high school.

Just a big giant smile on my face!!!

We took this to Symphonic Band Competition at Lenoir Rhyne University when I was a sophomore in high school along with the William Byrd Suite and some other piece. I think it was Symphony No4 in F Minor. We were stacked with some of the most talented musicians in the state of NC at that time, from the woodwind section to the brass.
I played this song for a Band Trip this year… This piece will always have a place in my heart

Reading all the comments complaining about the difficulties, meanwhile I’m sipping smoothies while playing Bari sax part
phenominal work of art, really makes the mind drift into thoughts of silence.
I've liked this one for years, but since being Born Again I take a renewed and changed look at things (notably music - it's kinda "my thing"). Surely God gave us the gift of music (and the capacity to get joy from it), which means that it is a field of engagement for the Holy Spirit. The military march would not seem to be ideal territory for Him, given the inevitable associations with war and killing, yet many marches do seem able to offer a particular joy, while in your case you go to a somewhat different place. People below in turn write about being both relaxed AND joyful, and this juxtaposition of apparently incompatible and irreconcilable states always looks to me like a sure sign that the Holy Spirit is in action. Sometimes I get very convinced about a piece and "see" clearly. Here I am not quite so sure, but it's interesting nonetheless, and this song is surely special.
sounds great
I sure loved piccolo in this song. It was SO fun. We had a clinic one time when I was a sophomore in high school, and my director called me out in front of this doctor of music and professional conductor, this person who just impressed us and who I had started to respect highly, and said "Harmony, will you play it so we can hear how it should sound?" or something to that effect. I love this song so dearly. It reminds me of a time when I was actually good at music and was in good enough health to enjoy it. What an absolutely beautiful performance of such a gorgeous march.
I play the tuba for this in band
When we have no pianist so I play piano part on vibes lul
First clarinet oh boi
still remember 10 years ago my band director gave me the solo knowing that I was going off to Marine boot camp in the summer. Somethings you never forget
Brings back memories. I played the trumpet solo for this in high school. Always liked this piece!
Played this as Contra Alto clarinet in high school then as tenor sax in college. Way more fun playing it in college than just being an "extra" tuba for every song in hs.
Ahhh 7th grade... 3rd Trombone... the memories... we got superior ratings too!
I played this is 7th grade, I’m a horn, never seen so many upbeats in my life
oh lord just wait till you get some Sousa I have an eternal hatred for Sousa specifically because of the horn parts I remember from high school
@@ppbandit8832 yeah lol
Hello Where can I get this music sheet?
I never get tired of hearing this march.
Love this song but I played flute in it freshman year and my finger refused to respond 😂😂😭
Is this just music
Oii
I know why 7 8 9 were best friends then six came

I've never heard anything so relaxed yet so emphatically joyful.
This sounds like a Dragon Quest song. Also I absolutely despise having to play the high G on trombone for this piece. I should probably practice more.
My main question is how the trombones got out a really good high A-flat
G’s are honesty more of a pain in the ass to hit. A’s, A flats and above are so much easier to hit than that one stupid note
I want to know
No I want to know
My band used this in our marching show this year
This is euphoric
Yo this low key a banger
You know why six was afraid if seven?
Because 7 ate nine
Seven eight nine
Just watched a UNH (University of New Hampshire) saxophone quartet (and their wonderful drummer, Matt) preform this at my school. Fell in love with the piece instantly
I love how dorky this some sounds. Like it’s the silliest March.
Hm not good
The most chad piece
First trombone - this song is a cake walk
I thought this was a movie about the joke but it's still good
Hi
Yes , Freddie Fennell is the best, played many wonderful pieces under his direction,Jean Antrim
Mark, you have some fine musicians in your ensemble. Bravo.
As a piccolo, this song gives me major anxiety
as a piccolo, this song gives me major EXCITEMENT
Brilliant sounds
Wow! Great performance. I was surprised that I didn't miss the strings.
