The Chevrolet Chevy II/Nova is a small automobile manufactured by Chevrolet, and produced in five generations for the 1962 through 1979, and 1985 through 1988 model years. Nova was the top model in the Chevy II lineup through 1968. The Chevy II nameplate was dropped after 1968, with Nova becoming the nameplate for all of the 1969 through 1979 models. Built on the X-body platform, the Nova was replaced by the 1980 Chevrolet Citation introduced in the spring of 1979. The Nova nameplate returned in 1985, produced through 1988 as a S-car based, NUMMI manufactured, subcompact based on the front wheel drive, Japan home-based Toyota Sprinter.
After the rear-engine Chevrolet Corvair was outsold by the conventional Ford Falcon in 1960, Chevrolet completed work on a more conventional compact car that would eventually become the Chevy II. The car was of semi-unibody construction having a bolt on front section joined to its unitized cabin and trunk rear section, available in two-door coupe and four-door sedan configurations as well as convertible and station wagon versions. The 1962 Chevy II came in three series and five body styles-the 100 Series, 300 Series and Nova 400 Series. A 200 series was also introduced, but was discontinued almost immediately.[2] The sportiest-looking of the lot was the US$2,475 ($21,175 in 2020 dollars [3]) Nova 400 convertible-23,741 were produced that year.[4]

Available engines for the Chevy II in 1962 and 1963 included Chevrolet's inline-four engine of 153 cu in (2.5 l) and a new third generation 194 cu in (3.2 l) Chevrolet straight-6 engine. All Chevy II engines featured overhead valves. A V8 engine was not available in 1962 and 1963. With no documentation proving it, the legend of a dealer installed V8 engine being in a 1962 or 1963 model year Chevy II is a myth. Refer to the GM Heritage Center 1963 Chevrolet Nova information available on the GM Heritage site.[5] In addition, that documentation does not list a V8 engine as a possible dealer installed option.
In 1962 and 1963 the Nova option for the Chevy II was available in a convertible body style, and a two-door hardtop was available from 1962 to 1965, although the hardtop was dropped when the 1964 models were first introduced, but subsequently brought back to the line later in the model year. Like all Chevy two-door hardtops, the body style was marketed as the Sport Coupe.

I'm glad to see some people still interested in putting models together. I done it when I was a kid and when I got in my 50s and sober I got back into building them again.
Find it so relaxing to watching you paint & listening to the songs.
AMT solved the problem with the wheel backs being a tough fit into the tires. My kit came without tires. Unfortunately I had already painted the body, interior and trailer before I discovered this. I always watch your videos before buying a new kit. Can then decide if it's too difficult with tiny parts that my old eyes have trouble seeing well. So glad you post these videos. Pick up a lot of tips from your detailed explanations. Thanks.
You should put that little squirrel in your shirt pocket cause you are the Bob Ross of model building! 😎
YEAH HUH ?? 👍👍👍👍
One of my favorite station wagons next to vans
Build models to be happy, its simple, if you dont like the kit, move along, im here because i like seeing how other people make models and because i might learn some new ideas, every day is an education really, the biggest problem i have here in the uk is the lack of amt kits where the postage costs more than the kit itself, but thats my fault and nothing to do with chris and his standard of building, if you are not happy here you are free to move along and count rivets on another channel, i will stay here because this channel makes me feel happy and i am learning things along the way and helps my style of building and weathering kits once completed, keep up the good work chris and i will keep watching, happy thanksgiving to all happy people across the atlantic ocean, be happy and smile, a smile costs nothing 🙂
Chris, I did one of these years ago...What a fun time that was!
Just watching these builds is like meditating.
Im not a big Chevy guy.but i love this kit just for all the extras that are included!!! Id.love to build a gasser wagon!!😊😊😊
Looks like a GREAT kit, looking forward to building one too!! 👍👍👍
I’m thankful for discovering your videos, which helped inspired me to get active in modeling again last year!
Happy Thanksgiving Chris! Wow! This kit is loaded with neat extras! Can't wait to get my hands on that straight 6! Would love to see it as a "Parts Pack" offering as well as the trailer!
Love how the details popped with the first coat of primer. Another great build.
Happy Thanksgiving everyone!🦃
Good kit! This is a direct reissue of the original annual that was released in the fall of '62. I built it back then as I got it as a Christmas gift in '62. I was 6 years old! Now I need to build it again, and probably do a better job!
Chris I believe what you called lights on tree with custom front is a set of custom headrests.I enjoy watching your box opening build up. Helps me decide what kits I want to buy.
I just picked this up. Wasn't intending on it, but finally found it at a shop while I was grabbing some paint. Lol. So pumped to do this. I love wagons and wish there was more.
Very nice for the guys and gals that waited for this one ! The earlier release (curbside) that didn't have the engine was a little bit of a let-down.
A lot of different ways to go with this kit - so let the creativity begin ! When I was four years old, my dad bought a new, 1963 Chevy II wagon,
just like this. I remember being at grandma's house and found a "cool" stick in the back yard that looked like a gun and decided I had to take it
home with me. Climbed into dad's new wagon and proceeded to poke a hole in the cloth headliner with my "gun". Never heard the end of it........
Love this kit, definitely can go crazy doing different stuff with it, considering getting one for sure after seen this, thanks for sharing
Got 3 ordered this kit is awesome thanks for sharing
Happy Thanksgiving Chris! Wow! what an Awesome build! The music makes watching the paint and building process all the more better! Thankful for your videos!
Yep, this one is a must-have. Glad to see it’s got an engine. Nice build, Chris. Happy Thanksgiving.
HAPPY THANKSGIVING ! .... AWESOME !
Chris I like the way this turned out ..great paint choice! Close too an actual factory color I think! Great job
Happy Thanksgiving Chris! Thanks for the wonderful video on this kit, I will be adding it to my stash!
And when you sprayed the primer on the body it really brought out the details
I’m glad someone can make a good rattle can paint job. I’ve tried so many times and I’ve given up. Giving airbrush another shot.
Your enthusiasm is inspiring and fun!
Thanks, it's all about FUN here, all the time!
Picked one up yesterday. Great looking build.
Great video! I might have to pick up this kit just for the trailer and the accessories for the garage diorama I am building.
This is a sweet kit you get a lot for the money. Great build thanks as always happy thanksgiving!
Excellent craftsmanship on this build Chris! This is another anticipated release, I have had it on backorder for a while now and I am looking forward to getting this kit on the bench!! Wonderful presentation as always, Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours!!
Happy Thanksgiving Chris! Thanks for doing these build videos. I usually wait for you to do a review or build video of the kits before I go out and buy them. I like to see what the kit contains and what it really looks like assembled. Keep up the great work that you do.
Happy Thanksgiving to you Chris and all of your followers! A wonderful video as always!
Nice kit I'm going to get two of them customize one thank you for sharing 👍
Another great kit review
I pre ordered this kit from MODEL ROUND UP a few moths ago
Now I really can’t wait to get it
Thank again
Happy thanksgiving
Tim
Happy Thanksgiving Chris ! It’s nice to see this kit being released with all those extra parts. I guess I should’ve known they’d do that once I paid about $100 for an original of the same kit !
Mine does not have that great Hemi though, so you know I’ll be buying this one too.
Great build. This kit looks like a kit bashers wet dream. I'll take a dozen.
Great post. Love your work. Happy Thanksgiving!
Must get that model!
Agree!!
I Third That !!!
Chris, your paint brush looks like mine. Bristles sticking out all different ways. 😁😁😁😁
Another nice build. Just pre ordered mine from model roundup. I mistakenly ordered an expensive 6cyl distributor instead of a V8 a few weeks back so now I'll have an excuse to use it.
Thats one sweet build......
Holy grail! thnx for showing.
Happy thanksgiving Chris love your videos keep building
Beautiful work! I now want to buy about ten of these.....kidding, just getting 3😎.happy thanksgiving!
Great vídeo, great kit and, as always, nice music. Thanks a lot for sharing. I really enjoy your work. Regards from Brasil.
Very cool build Chris! Soooo many extras that come with the kit. Happy thanksgiving! Even though I’m Canadian, my wife is still a US citizen (been in Canada over 30 years!). We celebrate both thanksgiving days every year! Going out tonight for dinner. Had to put our dog down yesterday, so pretty sad around here today!
Happy Thanksgiving! I got alot of new ideas from this video, thanks! Also I gotta get me one of those chrome paint markers? Nice detail tools you got there as well!
good job even with that ratty brush. love your show
Love how you did it- really like when they give all those extras in the kit.
A sweet build Chris. The number of ways that it can be built it into is endless especially the ones that have the trailer. My version would be to add them to a fleamarket diorama bringing stuff to sell and a bit beat up after building both with the wagon in the stock version. Happy Thanksgiving to you and to your family.
Great build great kit
You did a really great build without one Chris looks great and a Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family 👍👍
Good stuff Chris. I have had this kit on pre-order for a while now. I suppose my package from Modelroundup should be showing up in the not too distant future. Have a happy Thanksgiving.
Can't wait to build mine gonna build my own chassis for it gonna do a drag car
It must be the year for chevy 2 love these kits mobius is coming out with the 65 chevy 2 gasser and chevy 2 sport hard top in2022 amt 65 chevy 2 mister twister some great kits coming your wagon looks great
That would be an insane pro street using the chassis from the 66 Nova or as a gasser...omfg I'll have to buy at least 4 of these
Mighty mighty awesome lil wagon bud! Have a mighty good thanksgiving too! 👍👍🤘✌🏻🦃
What a cool Model. I would like to have the real car too. I like the weird stuff. Fun build. Thanks
Nice work.
I want this kit super bad. May have to buy 2.
I thought about getting this, that trailer is a early 1960's U-haul trailer and that is the way I will build it.
Chris when you get a chance. Could you please make a video of all or most of all the car and truck models that you put together? I am sure that you have a great deal of kits that you have not only from your videos. I am curious of how you even store them. I really enjoyed your videos and reviews. It helps put in perspective of what to expect.
Great review and awesome build as always Chris. Built the craftsman series had a lot of fun minus engine.if imma lucky enough to get my hands on this kit be buying it for that beautiful six cylinder. Thanks.peace
Great review & build … Happy Thanksgiving
Soon as I seen this on your channel I know know only thing this is right up my street one it's the same year I was born and the second I love yanktanks especially estate cars .
Awesome build
Oh yes another great job. Now its time to put the paint and glue down. And have a Great Thanksgiving. Enjoy Family and Friends. Have a very Happy Thanksgiving.👍
When you have issues with tires going on the wheels or wheel backs, put the tires in boiling water for a few minutes and then the tires will slide right on, without any issues.
I’ve figured it out. A company wants as many 1:1 replica models to sell and since “station wagons” aren’t sexy to non Motörhead’s you throw in a xtra plastic with plenty of extras. Brilliant. Great video (I left the nod to Motörhead 😎)SQUIRREL!!!!
I remember my parents moving in 1970, we rented a trailer like that from u-haul.
Great build, Chris, happy Thanksgiving! 😊 ✌
Happy Thanksgiving Chris! Thanks for your videos!
Am a big model guy as well love your videos and how tpu do your stuff 👍
Hey Chris awesome build as always keep up the great work, Have a great safe and wonderful Thanksgiving holiday
Happy Thanksgiving
Great build... love all the extra goodies 😀
Ok now that you completed that sweet build(s)
Now get the custom tools out & shoe-horn that Hemi into that wicked Nova wagon
Would make the perfect drag week sleeper, I mean.....
come-on you already have the trailer, chute & other parts for the week😉
Just a quick stop at the local speed shop and you'll be ready for the 1320 !
Just a dream but it would be cool if you could build a Drag Week car !
Yes the complete deal with trailer, Slicks & front drag rim/tire...
Plus have trailer filled with those parts, jack, toolbox, goodies for the week 😎
Drag week events are becoming very popular, perfect test for a street/strip machine !
Just four or five tracks a few hundred miles apart & see who can make the trip &
turn in a slip at all tracks , the perfect test of man and machine 🏁
Believe it or not... they are in the fives for the 1/4 (5.99 @ 250+) 😲
A 4000HP Street/strip 69' Camaro ( Tom Bailey )
Who BTW will be starting is own Drag Week in Florida in February ✌😎
Great job
Love it!
Happy Thanksgiving Chris, from sunny Orland-Oh Floriduh. Such a super cool kit. Always loved these Chevy II wagons and wanted to get one for my daily driver. This kit looks like a must for a winter project. Nice cool weather to sit out in the garage, from now until March.
Happy Thanksgiving to you Chris very nice build very cool kit very enjoyable
Happy Thanksgiving !!!!!!
Nice car !!!!!!! Looks good
Nice work on this model for sure.
Thank you! Cheers!
Great build and video Chris. Nice work!!! Figures I bought two kits without the engine. Now I'll have to buy a third. A belated Happy Thanksgiving. Can't wait to see your other builds and videos.
HAPPY THANKSGIVING!! That engine didn't fit in the trailer with those pipes on , did it. I tried on my old 61 Buick wagon and trailer kit too, only to realize they didn't fit. Just stuck some down-swept pipes to fix it. Cool kit.
Turn it sideways. Then it fits. It won't fit facing forward or backwards with the headers on.
Chris thank you for this incredible model. It's so beautiful. Have a sweet, happy and nice Thanks giving day with your family and friends.
Very cool ,thanks.
Thanks a lot!
Happy Thanksgiving. Hemi caught my eye for the wrong reason, lol. I was thinking 426 since the car is that vintage. But, must be a 331 or something because of distributor.
I would like to see this car customize with new front end that comes with the kit.
To see how it comes out.
I wish you would do one to see. I know it takes time to do. Because of body filling and sanding. I would be nice to see one.
Thanks Chris
Whatever the displacement of the FirePower engine the center sump oil pan is from a 392 .
happy T day Chris
RJ
Have a great Thanksgiving Chris, great build I do like a wagon.🦃👍
Brilliant 👍
Thanks bud!
Way cool. Question; If I wanted to put a v8 in the nova, how do I handle that built in exhaust pipe?
CCCRRRRAAAACKK !!! IT'S ANOTHER GRAND SLAAAMM OUTTA THE PARK Chris !!! I've Gotta Get at LEAST 2 o These Babies 🤗🤗🤗.
OOOHH I Was Wondering If The Hemi Was Going To Fit in The Trailer w The Headers Attached ,,,,, It's STILL BEAUTIFUL Buddy , Wishing You and All Yours a Safe n Blessed Turkey Day and a Blessed Wknd as Well !!! 🤗🤗🤗
Nice
A fantastic job 👏 👍 so enjoy your videos 📹 😊 please keep them coming 🙏 and here to help get your videos 📹 out to everyone else 😀 😊......and Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family 👪 😀 😊
Beautiful! Where did you get your paint carousel or did you build? Thx
oh my gosh i have too have this now
Thanks, much appreciated!
This is a great kit, building it now, but the Chrysler fire power motor does not fit in the stock mounting post, im currently taking the hard top nova drag car Frame and engine bay to make it fit and do my dream drag week build, just take note
The 6 cylinder engine can be used in a 65 Chevy truck model if you wanted a base model truck instead of the 283 v8!
Sweet model I’m so jealous of you Americans we don’t get the choice of kits here in the UK
We're jealous of the Europeans who can get Revell Germany kits and other kits from places like Japan, Ukraine, etc and what not much more easily.
Thanks for stopping by!
