    • AUTHENTIC KIT: Featuring ALL-NEW tooling, AMT’s “Craftsman Plus” kits are simple enough for beginners but with enough detail to satisfy even the most seasoned model builder!
    • FUN-PACKED: Craftsman Plus kits are “curbside” style - fast, fun and easy to build. A simple engine plate replaces a multi-piece motor to speed assembly and finish a beautiful replica in a short amount of time.
    • QUICK SPECS: 1/25 scale, 40 easy to assemble parts; approximately 6 inches long once assembled. Molded in off-white with black vinyl tires, chrome-plated bumpers and wheels and more! Paint and glue required. Skill 2 rating, for ages 10+.
    • THE PERFECT PRESENT: Spread some retro joy! Maybe you have an avid automotive enthusiast in your life? This model kit makes an ideal gift for any occasion! Buy one for brother or dad!
    • TRUST AMT: At AMT we are modelers ourselves and we sweat ALL the details. We strive to make sure every kit is produced with top quality, in every way!
Please note that this is a "Craftsman Series Kit" originally issued in 1963, and, as such, does not have a detailed engine However, the body is newly tooled, crisp and beautiful. The kit does have an opening hood and includes the old Craftsman series insert engine. Please see the pictures in the photo rotation. The kit builds into a beautiful curbside model and with a little effort a detailed engine could certainly be added. The kit satisfies that itch we all have for a station wagon.

The Chevrolet Chevy II/Nova is a small automobile manufactured by Chevrolet, and produced in five generations for the 1962 through 1979, and 1985 through 1988 model years. Nova was the top model in the Chevy II lineup through 1968. The Chevy II nameplate was dropped after 1968, with Nova becoming the nameplate for all of the 1969 through 1979 models. Built on the X-body platform, the Nova was replaced by the 1980 Chevrolet Citation introduced in the spring of 1979. The Nova nameplate returned in 1985, produced through 1988 as a S-car based, NUMMI manufactured, subcompact based on the front wheel drive, Japan home-based Toyota Sprinter.
After the rear-engine Chevrolet Corvair was outsold by the conventional Ford Falcon in 1960, Chevrolet completed work on a more conventional compact car that would eventually become the Chevy II. The car was of semi-unibody construction having a bolt on front section joined to its unitized cabin and trunk rear section, available in two-door coupe and four-door sedan configurations as well as convertible and station wagon versions. The 1962 Chevy II came in three series and five body styles-the 100 Series, 300 Series and Nova 400 Series. A 200 series was also introduced, but was discontinued almost immediately.[2] The sportiest-looking of the lot was the $2,475 Nova 400 convertible-23,741 were produced that year.[3]
    1960s Chevrolet Nova emblem
1963 Chevrolet Chevy II Nova 400 4-Door Station Wagon
Available engines for the Chevy II in 1962 and 1963 included Chevrolet's inline-four engine of 153 cu in (2.5 l) and a new third generation 194 cu in (3.2 l) Chevrolet straight-6 engine. All Chevy II engines featured overhead valves. A V8 engine was not available in 1962 and 1963. With no documentation proving it, the legend of a dealer installed V8 engine being in a 1962 or 1963 model year Chevy II is a myth. Refer to the GM Heritage Center 1963 Chevrolet Nova information available on the GM Heritage site.[4] In addition, that documentation does not list a V8 engine as a possible dealer installed option.
In 1962 and 1963 the Nova option for the Chevy II was available in a convertible body style, and a two-door hardtop was available from 1962 to 1965, although the hardtop was dropped when the 1964 models were first introduced, but subsequently brought back to the line later in the model year. Like all Chevy two-door hardtops, the body style was marketed as the Sport Coupe.
For 1963, the Chevy II Nova Super Sport was released, under RPO Z03.[5] It featured special emblems, instrument package, wheel covers, side moldings, bucket seats, and floor shifter, and was available only on the 400 series sport coupe and convertible.[5] Cost of the package was US$161.40, equal to $1,347.87 today.[6] As mentioned above, the Nova option could not officially have V8 engines at this time-the standard SS engine was the six-cylinder (this was also applicable to the Impala (and later the early Chevelle c. 1964-65) when the SS was a sport and appearance package.

I thought Christmas was over but to my surprise we get another AMAZING GIFT of a new video. Thank you Thank you, this car is very close to my heart because my grandparents bought it new and we had tons of fishing, camping, and theme park trips in it and then it was given to my mom and we went every where in this thing.

1963, as I remember it (yes, Im 74) anyway I think in 1963 the GSA picked the Chevy II sedans and wagons for Government cars which meant lots of big businesses did also - Boeing and The Phone Pholks are two that I remember. Great nostalgia and very believable weathering. Thanks for sharing...

dari is my neighbour; im skip j king of aberdeen nj; i bought many kits because i think hipiguy is the best. Im a senior citizen and have
been making all sorts of things including model kits since the 60s when i was a small boy. I bought this kit and assembled it, but
kept the tan colour, since novas did come that way-no patina for me thanks, but it is nicely done on your part. This is actually a
rerelease of the promotional model that came out in 1962,if memory serves me well. I deleted the engine delete.I love swapping
parts between kits (kit bashing) and have always had good results and things you cant ordinarily get that way.I bought amt1202
(64 belvedere) and built both motors, putting the big one in that kit ,but guess what? I took the chrysler 225 six and shoehorned it
into the nova(silly, but successful) and now have a complete model- most came with the 235 chevy straight six(close enough!).I also design my own model kits from recycled plastic, and extra leftover 1/25 or 1/24 scale parts. See Ya!

Nice build of a good kit. It doesn’t like it would have been too much work to just have included an engine with it. A Chevy 6 cylinder would be nice.

Great job as usual. Small point, tyhe turn signal lenses on '60s cars weren't amber-colored until that was mandated in 1968. In most early '60s cars you could see the amber bulb behind the clear lens. As a kid I used to tint the lenses on friends cars.

When I started building models again several years ago. I bought all the good stuff. Air brushes, compressor, all kinds of expensive paint. I was trying to modify the models like the big boys are doing. My only problem was, I'm not very good at stuff like that. So after ruining several kits, after giving them the green bath, over and over and over. And after getting so frustrated I almost gave up. I found your channel. I say this with the utmost respect, your way is simple but brilliant. I now use mostly rattle cans. I have quit worrying about wiring and hosing, and opening doors and my models look so much better and I enjoy it so much more. Thank you sir for making modeling fun again. MMGA!!!!

Hey Chris - a "Real Ride" = the kind of car most 60's teenagers would be happy to have to drive - even if it was "Mom's car!" While 4-door wagons weren't most popular ride around - that all changed every time the local drive-in theatre had a "By the Carload" night [sure beat being 3 or 4 others in a trunk...!] The old Craftsman series had some good subjects not offerred in "regular" annual kits - '64 Comet Caliente & '65 Chevy Chevelle along with the late 50's and early 60's which were last offerred in the late 60's in the "Flower Power" series.... At least Round 2 refrained from doing "glass" for this kit without "smoke" some of their new issue "Quick Builds" are to be cursed with.... Thanks Chris for keeping the "Good Times" rollin' on!

I have one that I bought years ago when it came out Made a 65 out of it when AMT made a ,65 Nova hardtop kit. Wish that they would bring back the drag racing combo kit they made in 66 or 67 , also the original kit had a large AMT trophy cat decal very cool. I will be buying several of these I've been waiting for years for a release I will be painting this one Mist blue with a white top and I will make a 65 out of it to match my real car. My old kit is red like a previous 65 Nova wagon that I used to own. It is very easy to put a small block Chevy in this kit. Your kit turned out nice !!

I really like the curbside Nova wagon. The possibilities are endless with that particular ride my head is swirling with all the different things that can be done to that just wish that they could do I can't like that and 124th scale that included the engine and underneath chassis like regular tits but still all in all it's an awesome little kid to have fun with and kitbash make it your own peace my friend have a wonderful day

Oh wow! I thought they only restored an old AMT promo. But then with the engine bay. Yeah, that's not an old Promo that they just restored! Tho, I don't really get what they were thinking by doing this. The only thing I REALLY dislike, is that the front bench seat is molded with the interior. Personally, I would've loved if they had added side panels to replace the rear side windows, to give it a "delivery" look for the companies they provided the decals of.
All and all, it's a a good kit. And your build is beautiful.

Hi really enjoy your builds I was wondering if you can make a full in depth video of a full build and all your tricks. I really would like to know how you do all the small details on your models. I am talking about for example on your AMT 1963 Chevy Impala the chevy insignia the small red lines and the blue chevy insignia. They are so perfect and look so good after watching some of your videos I have got me back into the hobby for which I have not done since I was 15 years old I am now in my 50's and only wish I can do my models half as good as you. Thanks keep this videos going.
