    I started taking magnesium citrate a year ago, haviing spent the previous 10 years trying everything for menopausal sleep issues. Magnesium is simply amazing. I actually sleep deeply and all the way through the night. If I don't take it for a few days my nights go back to wakefulness and light sleep. I absolutely recommend anyone menopausal with sleep issues to try it

    Magnesium glycinate contains 14% elemental magnesium, that is a 100mg capsule yields 14mg of magnesium. My issue is that glycine, oddly enough, has a laxative effect on me starting at 1 gram, so I can't really take high doses of the glycinate form. I prefer threonate and take 6 capsules daily.

    I had my first dose of magnesium glycinate mixed with vitamins and I found myself having dreams. I was woken up by my partner midway through the night as we have been given some bad news about a friend of ours. But I went straight back to sleep and funnily strangely I began dreaming about what I had just been told when i was woken up. My point is though that I rarely dream these days and I sleep really light and feel barely slept every single day but today I feel balanced and remember every detail of the dreams i had between waking up yesterday. And when I have dreamed in the past they were very vague and appeared extremely random with bothing to take from it in twrms of explaining them to others. But last night the dreams seemed to have conections to what I had exoerenced during the day seen and heard. It may not work for everybody but I definitely boticed someyhing going to see what tonight is like

    Dr Breus, I can't even _find_ magnesium glycinate -- everyone is selling magnesium biglycinate, instead.
    What is the difference between magnesium glycinate and magnesium biglycinate?
    Is there a difference? Is the difference important?
    Additionally, I've noticed that whenever I see magnesium listed as an ingredient, rather than a stand-alone supplement, it's almost invariably in the form of magnesium oxide (especial in cheaper one-a-day multi-vitamins) Also common is magnesium stearate, which doesn't appear to be intended as a supplement at all. Are these useful/how useful are these?

    Most people have pretty high expectations about supplements making marked changes in their health. They are not drugs and the effects may be subtle or barely noticeable. Always check to see if an influencer has a business related to the supplement being promoted, because often they are. This includes scientists/medical professionals.

    read the fine print. This guy is giving nutritional advice and pass himself as a medical doctor.. he is a psychologist

    • @TheSleepDoctor
      @TheSleepDoctor  3 місяці тому +1

      Hi! Thanks for watching and sharing your thoughts! It's important to note that Dr. Michael Breus is a psychologist with medical training and expertise in sleep disorders. While he may not prescribe medications like a psychiatrist, his background allows him to provide valuable insights into how factors like diet and magnesium can impact sleep quality.
      This video focuses on the real reasons we need magnesium for sleep, highlighting its role in muscle function and nervous system regulation. Magnesium deficiency can significantly affect sleep, and many studies support this, including those from the National Institutes of Health and the Journal of Clinical Sleep Medicine, support the benefits of magnesium supplementation for sleep-related issues like restless leg syndrome.
      Ultimately, it’s best to consult your healthcare provider before making any changes to your health regimen and doing your own research, and Dr. Breus encourages this approach as well. Thank you for raising this important point!

    • @ryanhall8326

      The failure to acknowledge your lack of medical credentials upfront, while dispensing medical and nutritional advice and calling yourself a doctor is fundamentally misleading. There is no reason for not this , other than financial.
      Generally most “sleep doctors” are pulmonologists, MD’s, which adds to public confusion.
      For the benefit of uninformed consumers, I suggest you correct this behavioral by identifying yourself upfront as a psychologist instead of burying it in the fine print. Thank you.
