Next to tuning your engine, tuning the DSG is a great improvement. In smaller engine cars (2.0 Turbo's), it really allows the car is shift properly (and stops the care from downshifting and spinning the tires). It also makes sports mode something different than higher revving. LOTS of subtle changes, all match up perfectly with the tune.
Paul knows his ish, man. Can hear him talk about cars all day. Not many mechanic channels on UA-cam have this knowledge base. Been watching this channel a long time. 💯👍🏿
Just wanted to post my experience to help others. I have a car running on Unitronic Stage 3 Dual pulley with a smaller top pulley, putting the car at a little above the boost/power ratio of Uni's stage 3 kit. I have never experienced any slip or hesitation with the DSG, but having driven Uni and APR cars, the way the trans behaves is very differently. At full throttle, the APR TCU will leave the clutches engages making an awful slipping slushy sound. This is actually better for your quarter mile but results in a pretty unsettling feeling shift as the clutch slips from gear to gear. The unitronic STage 2 will make the shifts much quicker and tighter, but at full throttle my car almost slams them, as if it is trying to shift too quickly. For my taste, I love it, the car throws you back and you feel the engagement of each gear, and your ears are met with a pop/clap instead of a "DSG FART". For the track, I would rec the Uni tune, as the downshifts and upshifts are much quicker, but if you are trying to build a quarter mile car, you might want APR even though it doesn't sound good.
I recently had Unitronic stage 1 tcu + ecu tune on my 2010 cc. The tcu tune reallly transformed the transmission and how the car feels. Now the D mode is much smoother and and not going to race to the 6th gear. As soon as I put foot down, the transmission knows to downshift even in the D mode. The ecu tune does give the car a little kick. Anyone want to have the ecu flash on their cc should not expect the tune will transform the car into a gti.
Couple of Questions. Do you feel that the DSG tune is needed at the same time you do the Stage 1+ tune? Or can it wait down the road? Is there a way with the OBDeleven that you can see the number of times your ECU and TCU have been flashed?
Hello Paul... Can you make a video on how to bleed the coolant im the s4 b8.5? Im planning on upgrading the heat exchanger in my car. Thank you very much...
I dont like gear 2 and 5 with TCU upgrade. It drives too rough. I do like the gear display. But if i wanted sportier driving i will drive in sport mode, while in D i want comfort. However i dont track my car, just cruise and the occasional 0-60 from red lights.
I think i met the torque limit with my Eurodyne stage 1.5 tune sadly... its a 2010 S5 cabrio so off the bat i'm 500lbs heavier than the S4, im assuming this extra weight loads up the engine more and causes the power cut while shifting sadly. So i've just been running the Stage 1 for the past year, i feel like its time to flash the trans and see if my car can even handle a pulley.
Hello there. is the transmission vibration between 1k & 2k rpm a normal thing on the B8 S4?... your videos are so easy to understand which is why i am asking you Sir. thank you
Could you have an AWE touring exhaust with stage 2 tune and stage 2 dsg without damaging the exhaust system? I want this power but don’t want to melt the catalytics.
@Auckland357 You can view launches with vagcom or one of the obd2 modules, I checked used s4s when shopping for mine. The one I eneded up getting had 0.
But 200 seems insanely low. When the car is new you could go through them in a few months and then what? No more launches for the next 5-8 years? Why even include it, if it’s so vulnerable that it has a low limit.
I just bought a 2015 SQ5 a few weeks ago. 42,000 miles. (No Mods yet) I have noticed some "Sloppy" trans behavior. Its not all the time, normal day to day driving in "comfort" mode is fine mostly. In Dynamic it shifts harder and seems to jerk around - up and down in gear. I understand this might be the trans way of becoming more eager and aggressive. However, here is where it gets strange,...When in "comfort" and I decide to be aggressive with the gas peddle (like chasing down our mail man on the highway) it shifts hard, and after the big chase it's like the transmission stays pissed off - Shifting a little hard and up and down in gear. It's not until I stop the car and it sits a bit will it stop the erratic behavior. SO with this said, do you have any kind of explanation? Also do you think there is a good TCU tune that would help some of this erratic behavior when in Comfort mode? Do you think a simple re-map of the trans at the dealership will fix this? ANY INFO HELPS!!!!!! Love your Vids by the way!
Yeah, get a car that's 1/2 the price used, and put lots of money into it? Makes no sense. You're starting with something slower than my C-max Energi in the 1/4 mile, the A3, versus something that compares with a Corvette in the 1/4 mile, stock. (My S4.)
@Deutsche Auto Parts I have a 2018 GTI sport in California. I see people doing secondary cat delete. My question is, will removing secondary cat on mk7 gti harm the engine in anyway? (Without tune) I know secondary cat is after the O2 sensor so no CEL will show. Thank you!
Why did you buy an A-series Audi if you were trying to go fast? Aren't those above 7 seconds 0-60 and above 14 seconds in the quarter mile? Look at zeroto60times.com if you want to see why I wouldn't start with something slower than my C-max Energi plugin hybrid in the quarter mile. Imagine how much it takes to get it in the same range as my S4! It would cost you as much as I would spend to get my S4 to do 1/4 miles in the 11-12 second range, just to run as fast as my car does stock, around 13.0 seconds. Thousands of $.
T Colondovich S4 is compressor... A4 4 cilinders is turbo ... now we are about 750hp with good preparation, 450hp with moderate preparation 300hp with stage 2 preparation ... So it is just different... Turbo and compressor. Also ... it is about quantity, the most of car in the world now are turbo downsizing.
MARTINEZ POLANCO never heard of them but I’m sure it’ll do. I’d say go with whatever is closer to you or some tune companies, such as unitronic in the video, have flash cables that allow you to tune your car from home
@deutsche auto if you stopped at stage 2, would there be any reliability issues? Seems like a 3.5 0-60 might be too much stress reducing reliable daily mileage? Would appreciate a response, goes a long way on credibility when you can take a second to reply to the community. Great videos !
hello everyone i need your guys help please i have a 2010 audi s4 and im having gearbox malfunction do you guys know anything about it what can it be so let me explain a bit im driving with pedal shifters and hight rpm and i want to change gear the car die for a second and after it takes the speed back or like i said im hight rpm and i change gear the car jumps also sometimes if anyone knows anything pleas let me know thank u??
Just skipped over the DSG tune, and instead purchased IE Stage 1 and ECS rear diffuser, front lip and front diffuser. Was going to get the DSG instead of the carbon fibre pieces but decided i would wait and get it as a combo kit for stage 2 when that comes about. Love the videos! Please keep posting and check out my vids, dropping weekly! Thanks.
