- It's time to have some proper drag races on Petrol Ped. I got use of a runway at raced a stock Audi RS4 against a REVO Stage 2 Audi S4 (B9). To make things interesting we also took the tune off the S4 and ran it stock in the same tests. A standing start 1/4 mile, a rolling start 1/4 mile and a 0-60 sprint timed using a Racelogic VBox. Which car will win ?

Putting a stage on a car can probably be cheaper than buying something that is more powerful from the factory

Although you need to factor in insurance costs as well I’m not sure if that balances it out?

It’s not just tuning it - uprating the intercooler etc plus the suspension is upgraded on the RS4 over the S4 from the factory as are the brakes so you’ve got to factor that in as well
Be careful though i wouldnt really push things too far though. Imo from personal experience dont go past stage 1. If you reallllly need extra performance buy the faster car.

They are by REVO. Lightweight and no spacers 👍

man that rs4 is just gorgeous. wish we got them in the states. i would take one over the rs6 any day of the week. i would put tte810 turbo on it to run 9's though

That gearbox software helped the stock 0-60 time as 4.1 is really impressive and 3.5 is really chasing down some big hitters. Did we get a PS/NM figure for the tuned car? Very enjoyable video and you guys got on really well so hopefully more collaboration with REVO in the future.

I thought on the last video, you or revo claimed this car had 500hp. Great video, love seeing the difference between stock s4 then tuned, compared to the rs4.
I did but was running a different turbo at the time. They dialled the power back and put a different turbo on it 👍

Has the S4 got any more mods on it like an intercooler as they run really hot? I own a B9 S4 and was gonna go for the 034 map but would like to know if that car only had an ECU and TCU tune
He said stage 2 so guess not as isn’t intercooler stage 3?
I think this car has the revo stage 2 software, a new air intake, new intercooler, intercooler pipes and I believe it’s got a full Milltek exhaust system
It has Stage 2 so hardware includes intercooler and airbox. Here is the video I did on the car last week that was link in the video…

i thought stage two on car tuning inc a map and downpipe or intercoolers, intakes (as per my rs7 c8) ...so how would you revert to stock on the track?
It does (intercooler, airbox and pipes etc) and if you listen carefully I say that we obviously can’t change those back 👍

While I never wanted to "race", drag racing might be more than a little addictive. I traded my JCW Roadster in for an Audi TTS (with those same red seats which I love) and it is so much fun.

Just curious --- why use the PS ('Pferdestarke') term in lieu of the usual "HP" delineation...???

Really enjoyed that, I sort of went off Audi for a while, I knew they could be tuned to a good standard, and are quality motors. I was thinking a new Merc AMG A45s, but now I am thinking, a late series 1 S8 face lift, with a tune

I might have missed it but what makes it a ‘stage 2’!? Are we talking air filter, decat, exhaust, methanol injection/ bigger intercooler and then the remap on the engine & gearbox?
It has different intercooler and air intake to make it stage 2. It also has a Milltek exhaust 👍 Here is a video I did on it 👍

Doesn’t the “stock” S4 still have the supporting mods installed for the stage 2 tune? I.e intercooler, cats?
Yes. I did say we were just returning the ECU to stock but obviously couldn’t change the hardware 👍

Awesome video 👍 I’ve got Revo Stage 1 on my 2022 RSQ3, that made around 468ps and 590NM, but the 0-60s are not as good as the tuned S4, I guess the TCU software helps that aspect, as Revo didn’t do the gearbox software for mine
Gotta remember the S4 is probably a lot aerodynamic and is less weight. Still very quick. I just got a S4 myself and I think it’s rapid stock. Let alone it being tuned!
what 0-60 times did you get on the REVO RSQ3? the TCU is very very laggy in mine....which is all stock...
@@shackleton274 stock without launch was 5.1, with launch was 4.7, since the Revo stage 1 its high 4s without launch, and best was 4.1/4.2 with launch - however its fully dependent on how the launch behaves, it just goes “meh” sometimes, I am planning to get a TCU tune to sort it
@@AudiRSQ would be super keen to hear how it goes after the TCU tune, did you notice a decent bump in in-gear acceleration?...also were you just using the timer in the MMI system?

There's probably not much reserve left for RS4 tune since it's almost same engine as S4. Otherwise revo surely would come up with a tune

The engines are actually very different, even thou on paper they look similar. Lots of inlet, valve, crank and exit side differences as well as the turbo (there is a 5 min 3d view video of the differences floating around from when Audi launched the car that explains it well), so it's not just a tune. Now you can get stage 2 rs4 and they run over 600hp. Awesome cars , both of them
No tuning for RS4? Would be good to see what happens between tuned rs4 and tuned s4.

Yes it has hardware so not quite stock but I did say that in the video 🤷♂️👍

That was an interesting watch so thanks for that as Audi is my 3rd most favourite Marque after watching quattro's in rallying as a youngster but I have never owned one but I did drive my bride to our wedding reception in her dads A4 after he threw me the keys in the churchyard. I was hoping to not bang it into a wall or something and managed to get there safely so off to a goods start with the in laws. Got my i Pace delivered this morning so JCW off to a new home at least 230 to 400 p.s. is some consolation and it was rain in my eyes!!!!

it seems like they are honestly making pretty low power for the platform, normally stage 2 eth maps on the b9/9.5 s4/5 would be putting busses on a stock rs

Running stage 1 revo on my B9 and it makes a huge difference, 420bhp running 99ron fuel for around £800.
Stage 2 485bhp for around £4k, a little too expensive for another 65bhp.

You get a heap of hardware mods with those 4K though, which make everything breathing much more easily.
How you may call stock S4, if it should be with downpipe and intercooler for stage 2? With this config and stock ecu its not a stock car!
Yes but you can’t quickly remove an intercooler and down pipe for comparison can you 🤷♂️

The RS4 is still a great car but not the colour for me, the geqrbox tune on the S4 was the most impressive bit .

Well, cars have changed so much over the years, a bit of software tweaking to engine & gearbox and hey presto, very fast car. Old days, exhaust, carbs, ported head, big cam & big valves, a fast & temperamental car.

That stage 2 0-60 had major bog down in 1st gear where the DSG was making it's mind up whether it could accept the torque or not, if it had the TVS stage 2+ TCU tune on it with the higher clamping force it could probably have hit around 3.2. Cracking figures all round though!
B9 does not have a DSG. It's the ZF8.

Either way, without the gearbox being tuned there's no chance of it being able to put the power down without it being restricted by the OEM software.
They should but stage1 on the rs4 and then see who will win I can say I think the rs4 would win
