2:2:34 btw the story you hear here is usually what you choose, but since you skip all of them the story is random selected. What you skipped is not only character features/transmog but also your personality and back ground ;D So if you decide to experience it in a more official way later, create a Norn from scratch again, you might hear a different story^^
If you try Sylvari, don't forget to try "turn of the light" and "take of the armor", you can see their glow

@@CasualProYT I will xD. But I have to admit that core game story is ... meh... so so LOL I know it is too soon to say this, but I just want to mention that If ... just say if... you decide to dig deeper, the story(scripts) and voice acting from living world season 3 on are much much better than the core game. And they replace the cut scene conversation with chat bubbles from HoT expansion ;3
      Happy journey O/

All I have to say to that video is " ok, you've spent one hour playing gw2.. and?". What's the point of that? No conclusion, opinion, summary or insight. Skipped the dialogue, rushed through most parts to fill the hour quota. There's nothing insightful or constructive here to be seen. It's not even a speedrun. 🤷

Sometimes the first hour isn't just enough time to unlock and see essential features, but I am glad that you already liked what you could get within the time.
GW2 started out as a buy 2 play game, which is probably the reason why the initial experience is of higher quality (although aged) than what you get from games that started as free 2 play right from the start.

I've played almost every mmo under the sun.
There are many games that implement systems to force players into daily chores, never-ending gear treadmills and constant "Forced Balancing" to promote alt creation.
Guild Wars 2 respects your time with it's horizontal gearing systems. You can leave the game for a while and return and your items will still be relevant.
The community is very helpful and communicative. There are players that have open groups on LFG allowing players to join and teleport to them bypassing difficult jumping puzzles.
You can find many mesmer players helping new players with their portal to reach difficult locations when they don't have access to mounts yet.
It's also the only mmo where I truly feel that every map is alive with something going on at all times of the day and unlike majority of other mmos where it's just a means of levelling and never returning.
Some large maps are so big and structured to have multiple levels, you can sometimes find your-self lost and needing to way-point back if you don't have a skyscale or griffon mount.
Also this is the only game where mounts are more than a means of transportation and a necessity to completing some activities such as springer ground-pound ability for some heart activities or reaching other-wise unreachable restricted areas, such as the Jackal portals and roller-beetle breakable doors or just traversing dangerous terrain such as using a skimmer to float over quick-sand.
With the implementation of fishing in the latest expansion, players are now given a semi-afk low-intensity gold farming method for those that wish to multi-task other things.
All achievements, fashion, mounts and mastery levels are account bound making alts much less of a chore.
There are races which involve mounts of all types such as very fast drifting style racing with roller beetles, races with elevation with springer, underwater ones with skimmer, super-speed flying with griffon and many more.
There's so many hidden areas all over the game some you will find, how-ever most you will most likely miss unless you have a keen eye and spend time exploring.
The variety of activities that you do while levelling is diverse and unique from anything else I've played. Gone are the days of kill x amount of this or fetch x amount of these.
The large-scale events in this game, are truly 'Large-Scale'. Make sure to adjust your graphics settings accordingly because meta-events with full maps can get quite hectic.
Fractals [GW2 Mythic Dungeons] implements many other activities which require thinking and not just killing mobs, such as unlocking locked doors, dodging traps and jumping puzzles to list a few.
World vs World is the closest i've felt in an mmo to being in an actual large-scale war, you need to experience it to believe it.
PvP has it's ups and downs with constant balancing, but the great thing about PvP in GW2 is that you just need to complete the tutorial and you can start pvping straight away, you will be scaled to max level and all gear is equalized.
Raids and Dungeons are what you would expect from any typical mmo how-ever arena-net seems to have more focus towards other game-modes such as Strike-Missions and WvW at the moment.
Dungeons in GW2 are unique in a way that you can choose [vote for] multiple routes to complete the dungeons leading to different paths within the dungeon and culminating in a different boss fight at the end.
Strike Missions have been added recently and are basically Raids without the Mobs, basically boss-rush mode for players who a searching for difficult pve content but are short on time.
Every year there are festivals for every season that introduce even more large events and group social activities which players can participate in to earn unique rewards and fashion unlocks.
The mastery system in GW2 doesn't increase player power but rather quality of life improvements and accessibility of certain systems.
Fashion in GW2 is very diverse, I've seen almost perfect imitations of super-heroes, real life celebrities, cartoon characters, characters from other games and so many weird and wonderful looks. You can also dye your mounts to match your fashion as-well, leading to some epic looks while mounted.
With infusions you can modify your looks even further and create effects which complement your fashion.
You can be as dark as night itself or a walking disco-ball, most people tend to not go to those extremes but I have seen some looks that I can never forget.
GW2 is known in the mmo community as the game that does everything different, sometimes something different is what you need.

That was a fun watch! It's always nice to see players from other MMOs try out GW2 and share their experience, especially since the fundamentals of the game are quiet different from WoW/FFXIV and so on. For leveling you can follow the yellow hearts as a rough guideline while exploring each map (you don't have to 100% complete them). Every 10 levels you will unlock a chapter of your personal story(the green quest). The orange "quests" are events which also reward you with XP.
But I'm sure you'll get a hang of it pretty quickly. Have fun in Tyria!

I find that people in GW2 are generally friendlier, of course, you get the asshats at higher levels of play, as the game structure incentivises helping each other.
    - If you tag a mob other people can also tag it and get both loot and credit.
    - If a player is downed or dead other players get XP for getting them up again. Even at the max level people keep getting XP and get a "level-up" reward.
    - Buffs, in this game called Boons, are given to people on a priority system that goes Self -> Party -> Squad (think raid) -> others around you so, by merely being close to other players you benefit from their existence.
All of these things nudge people into appreciating each other instead of seeing them as competition and attitude fosters a strong sense of overall community even if people never say anything to each other.

Haha it was so fun to watch how new player experience gw2! Brings me back to my time when I first started and everything was so awe to me. Hope you stick to gw2, it is so good and quality mmo! And there is milions of things to do and learn. Btw with the rabbit quest, u can use skill num 1 to run faster and you can press F when rabbit is near to scare it. So even some quest are kinda lame if u figure it properly you will see its actually fun bcs of some hidden mehanics! Good video, keep up. Hope to se more gw2 content. Subbed!

GW2 is largely about the journey. You're going to hit LVL 80 long before you finish the story even if you beeline it.
    - The "Level X - Effective Level Y" is the scaling. In the open world, you'll always be scaled to the appropriate level for the zone. This only affects the stats you have and never the skills or traits available.
    - You can try PvP from level 2, the only requirement is that you finish the intro for each race. You'll automatically be up-scaled to LVL 80 and get access to all the Specializations that your expansions owned currently allow. This includes the Elite Specializations from the Heart of Thorns, Path of Fire, and End of Dragons expansions.
Gear in PvP is normalised in the sense that they have no stats, it's purely for cosmetics. All stats come from Amulets you equip. You also get access to all Rune set (think Tier bonuses) and Sigils (weapon enchants). Though some of them you'll need to pay for in gold in order to unlock them.
    - If you talk to a scout (the spyglass icon on the map) they show you where the Hearts in the immediate vicinity is.
    - If you have a sub-zone of a map discovered then mousing over an icon in the legend on your map will make every corresponding icon in the zone that's uninteracted with flash in order to see them easier. This is vital for map exploration.
    - There are no mods as such for GW2. All there are are overlays that give you static information.

Based on the first 15 minutes, I don't think that the guy you grouped with was new. At all. But it's all good.
Edit: yep, he definitely knew what he was doing. But he was nice not to push you too much.
Hope you had a good time and that you'll be back. One hour in such a large game is really not representative of the whole experience.

@@CasualProYT ah~nice ^^ you can also use crafting to level up, just a lil bit since the mats are expensive, but like if you are lvl 29 and you really want to be lvl 30 xD And you might also have some mats during leveling, then you can craft a lil bit to cheat LOL
Crafting might be a lil bit different from wow, there is a "discovery" section, what you craft might be half mats then you use discovery to create a recipe(this gives you tons of XP too). If you can't find the mats you lack, use /wiki+shift click one of the mats, you will see the full recipe^^

Endgame is whatever you want it to be in this game. If you think of raids and strike missions as endgame, for example, there's only a very low percentage of players doing them regularly. Most are fine without those.
