I feed my baby’s blood worms 🐛 as they grow up I feed them dried mealworms the same as you would buy for chicken feed. You can save a ton of money buy feeding them the mealworms. Just don’t over feed them. You can buy a 3 pound bag for less than 8 dollars at Roil King. Or other stock feed stores. I don’t recommend feeding your Oscars live feeder fish because it will make them aggressive toward other fish in your tank. Never feed your fish Walmart live worms they will cloud up your tank and you will have to clean everything out in your tank to get it to clear up plus you will have to quarantine your fish in a separate tank it a mess expressly the crapy worms with die in them. Believe me I did and it was a terrible mess. Remember Oscars like to sleep sometimes so if you find your Oscars lying around just let it be that’s normal.
If anyone has an issue with them not eating pellets try baby or small sized crickets, they want to eat food that moves. Mine eat all the crickets "5-6" I put in the water, and sleep all night afterward on the bottom of the tank
Hey there! Guess you are new in the hobby! So here goes! Oscars unlike other cichlids are very sensitive as far changes in their environment go.. so whenever you get a new oscar fish follow these: make sure the water parameters are good (ammonia etc), Make sure they have lots of hiding spots , Make sure the lights are turned off for a couple of days, Don't go near the tank suddenly for the first couple of days just feed and go away. Slowly your fish will acclimate to the new tank and swim confidently..so don't worry it's a very common thing with Oscars to act how they are acting in your tank
As babies you can feed them 2-3 times per day. I feed mine 5 pellets 3 times a day at breakfast lunch and dinner. He’s a baby (about 2.7 inches as of now)
@@rpsscorpius8251 well, my tiger Oscar has grown to around 6 inches now and I sized him up in pellet size but if I was feeding him his old smaller pellets I would feed him around 20 2 times a day and then 3 times a day back and forth. So for a 4 inch Oscar I’d say no more than 25 but no less than 10 small pellets 2-3 times a day. Also you will be able to tell if you are over feeding based on how big their stomach bump is it should be relatively smooth but still visible
@@austen4651 Ohh .. I got my Oscar 3 months ago when he was 2.5 inches but now he's just over 4 ... I bought a baby albino recently he is by himself in a 20 gal for now he was scared and wouldn't eat normal.behavior but been 4 days he lookin skinny now and I'm concerned he still seem to be scared. Tank mate help him to be confident and eat? Seems healthy otherwise
Why on earth is your Oscar in a 20? He will die in his own waste soon. Get him a 75 gallon that he can grow and be healthy in. They need heavy water changes they make lots of waste through their gills and feces. Good filtration and food is a must. Baby O's need to feel secure. Walls or clumps of plants, driftwood. Floating plants and he will settle in. In that tiny tank he will need daily water changes until U get something bigger.
@@slickchick5811 i got this abused Oscar in a 20 gallon that was filthy, cleaned the whole thing now got a double filtration system with plants. He is a year old but still very small, u think he will be alright?
