12:46 dude, when i get my hands on the prawn suit, my reaper population goes extinct, just get grappler arm and jetpack upgrade and suddenly it's the reapers getting message like "warning, small mammal with exosuit approaching you. Are you certain, whatever you are doing is worth it?"
I just put two drill arms and go straight on them. They usually try to run away, but it's too late, because when metal plays, I slaughter everything on my way🥰🥰🥰
ive recently learned if you just give the crabsquid a nice ram with the cyclops it practically dies instantly, if killing big subnautica creatures is your style
if you get a stasis rifle and around 3/4 of your inventory filled with gasopod things and dump all them out on a reaper it almost instantly dies everytime
@@TheOficialBT Crabsquids have 500 hp, the thermoblade deals 40 damage (the survival knife deals 20). It takes 13 hits with a thermoblade (26 with a survival knife) to kill a Crabsquid.
Another strategy that works with the stalkers (and several other predators) is to swipe at them with your knife. One or two good slices and they decide you’re not worth it, and swim in the other direction as fast as their fins can carry them
Also, always keep moving while you're in their territory. Usually, I don't even pay attention to them while I'm in the area, and moving around is enough to dodge most of their attacks.
Well, you can just "eliminate" them in your prawn suit and then scan... Drill arm + grapple arm + repair tool, always works. You will need 5-10 minutes, but it's safe and easy... I think Or you could just spam gas torpedos (prawn suit, double torpedo arms)
@@vasilierDrill arm does less damage than regular arm. Its always better to wait until they come close, use stasis, jump in prawn and grapple on leviathan and then start hitting it. Stasis will make process easier because leviathan wont move for some time and you can attach to it pretty easily.
@@Playfast12 litterally my comment: "Use grapple arm on prawn suit to attach to leviatahns and kill them" Also ur response: "No, this wont work on sea dragon! You will need to use prawn suit with grapple arm on it!"
One thing worth noting about bleeders is that they are attracted to blood in game. This includes those of their own kind. If you’re swift and witty enough, you can eliminate them systematically by slashing one with a knife and then backing far enough away. The dead bleeder will attract the attention of several others, which will swarm and focus primarily on it. Then you can slash others as they’re preoccupied with eating the one you killed prior. I have learned how to pacify the entirety of the flooded sections of the aurora with nothing but a survival knife. Also with the Lava Larva, they will seemingly straight up ignore and even run from the Prawn if it has a drill arm equipped. I have had zero instances of them attaching to it with a drill equipped in over a hundred hours of gameplay.
Actually for crabsquids i would reccomend killing them on sight since theyre really good at destroying your vehicles but really bad at killing you. Just stay on top of there heads and keep swinging and theyll go down pretty quickly. Id also reccomend killing the ghost leviathans in the lost river since youll be down there alot and by the time you get there youll probably have a stasis rifle.
Also another (surprisingly endearing) means of ridding yourself of a Reaper- or dare I say _befriending_ a Reaper- is Peepers! If you grab yourself a decent amount of peepers (make sure you're holding one out in your hand) in your inventory (say about 7+, usually I have half an inventory full) and a reaper spots you, whether you're low on health or full health they will come to you and Nick your peepers! So long as you have a supply of peepers they'll nibble about 4-5 or 6 per turn and leave you alone after each snack. Which either gives you enough time to shoot off in a different direction OR go grab yourself some more kibble for these darling leviathans. Regarding health, if they happen to take a chomp out of you or by some other means your health is dangerously low you WILL still get the "killing animation" whereby a Reaper will grab you in it's mandibles and pop you in it's jaw.. BUT ALAS! If there are peepers in your inventory (namely in your hand)- after the killing animation all goes black until you open your eyes... You're alive!! And about 10 peepers short but still, scared sh*tless but alive. 😂😂
Just want to add, shutting the cyclops engine off will not stop a leviathan from attacking your cyclops if you are in their patrol route. Just had a sea dragon destroy my cyclops because it was in the way. Leviathans can generally hear further than they can see, but if they get close enough they will attack once or twice if something is in "sight" range.
I think they tend to attack the player more than the vechile. I had a sea dragon keep attacking my cyclops so I hopped into my prawn suit to drill it into submission. I was on a rock face like 10 feet away from the Cyclops but the Sea Dragon would always go for me and the prawn suit rather than the Cyclops.
@@jamesbond3was a matter of fact, this seems to very much be the case. Leviathans and several other aggressive creatures seem to mainly target a vehicle only if the player is inside it. In numerous instances, i have been able to park my vehicles in relatively accessible spaces to aggressive fauna and get out to collect resources. And they will leave the vehicle well enough alone for the most part, prioritizing me over the submersible. Occasionally they will take a swing at it, but outside of bonesharks, they never really go after an empty vehicle enough to make me particularly worried about loosing it. I have even seen this in Below Zero with the Cryptosuchus (the big angry things in the thermal spires and purple vents). And those things are overly aggressive towards just about anything that moves within proximity.
Quick tip for warpers: they cannot turn very quickly, and take only two thermo-knife swings to make them bugger off. Basically, circle around them before quickly changing direction, and you can get behind them: once behind them, they can't do anything. Tip for crabsquids: they cannot attack or EMP above or below themselves. If you do not stay on their depth level, they cannot do anything against you. Source of these facts: I cleared out and based in the Northern Bloodkelp Zone. Right above where i based is a warper spawn.
No need for all this, just stasis rifle everything But if we're being serious, great video! It's great how one can detail strategies for the entirety of subnautica's fauna.
Another good tip with cave crawlers is just ignore them. They attack by jumping from a distance so if you ignore them they'll jump at you and you would have already gotten out of the way, unless the cave crawler is in front of you though, then it'll hit you
I always thought it was that the PDA was advising you not to look at it, but from the player's POV they're under the influence and hear the opposite because it's what the Mesmer wants them to hear. Still a fascinating and clever touch regardless!
Best counter to the Lava Larva is to have the Thermal Reactor Module thing. I've managed to get my clops fully coated in the larva and the temperature down there is hot enough that they can't overwhelm your ability to stay powered up with the upgraded power cells.
Actually the Cyclops can be used as a leviathan-killer if it is fully upgraded and has ion battery power cells, you just need to select ahead flank speed and shield generator if you see any leviathan(literally, any), and then ram them head-on, do this for a while and keep flickering the shield generator off when not in-use, back up a little and again set ahead flank speed and do it for a while, the leviathan will be licking the seabed soon! Avoid using ahead flank speed when not in-use to prevent overheating, and use a stasis rifle(yes, you can use a stasis rifle from inside the Cyclops).
It just occured to me that during my playthrough I haven't encountered even a single mesmer and I was confused as to what this creature is when you showed it.
They're commonly found on the outer edges of creepvine biomes but have very little surface area to spawn. If you look, you might find like 0-2: and if you don't look again? Yeah, never really have to encounter it.
I discovered something on accident with Reapers. You can dive under them, and it honestly works better than trying to strafe. If they charge at you and you suddenly dive, they just ... miss.
A counter that was missed in this video for the Bonesharks is that you can distract them with flares. Bone Sharks are attracted to heat signatures just like how Stalkers are attracted to shiny metal and Crabsquids are attracted to light. Just toss some flares down when wanting to do something without them interrupting you and they'll just go towards the flare until it burns out.
Hey dude, I don’t know if anyone else mentioned this, but reaper leviathans DO have some bioluminescence on part of the red section of their spine. It’s VERY faint however so it is understandable to not notice it in actual gameplay, but the bioluminescence does exist!
0:00 Sorry if this sounds weird man but for anyone who is wondering, the background music is called Strollin’ by TrackTime. I’m a pianist myself so I had to find out LOL Amazing video btw. Just started playing Subnautica VR and this helps sooo much!!
Two complaints about the Crash Fish. 1) They don't seem to respawn so their material is limited 2) What biological advantage does it provide to explode when someone swims near you? How does that help the species survive?
You only need two cave sulfur at most, and they are in EVERY biome bar the Lava zone/lakes. You can find their eggs. According to the PDA, crashfish prefer to lay their eggs in the sulfur plants, which in turn protects the plants from predators. Everything else under the sun has learned that crashfish are horrifyingly dangerous, and avoid accordingly thanks to instincts. Not you though. You are not native, and the crashfish go after you with a vengeance for it.
If you can kill the thing trying to eat your children in nature, your children will live on and have their own children, regardless of if YOU lived or not. Still a bizarre strategy that could only exist on 4546B
they actually do respawn! BradIsBrad did a challenge where he made a day basically last a second, and it was hard for him to get cave sulfur because the same crashfish kept respawning before he even had a chance to grab the sulfur lol
Reaper: Turn on Seamoth lights, use as bait, aim for sea moth with stasis rifle, catch Reaper; Stab until dead, intermittently re-stasising. (If they attack directly, stay near flat surface and hit the surface with the rifle) Using scanner to mark them also helps track them. Repeat until entire population is extinct. Actually enjoy the game.
Something I’d like yo add, the EMP from the crab squid is 2D, so you can start to ascend when they use it to dodge it, and the Perimeter defense system will cause it to flee, as well as causing the warper to teleport away instantly, and you can just ram a warper with the seamoth to force it to flee as well
You can actually kill the reaper and ghost leviathans pretty easily with the regular prawnsuit claw arm and the grapple, the jump jet upgrade might also be a bit useful in helping you catch up to them, but I haven't played around with it enough to know a 100% if it helps or not. Some people might prefer the drill arm over the claw arm, but after I tried to kill a ghost leviathan for the 1st time in the lost river with the drill and grapple arms for about 15-20 mins just to finish it off with the claw arm because I got bored, only for me to return through a different entrance killing another one in only 4 minutes with the claw and grapple arms sometime later. The regular reaper leviathans only take 2+ minutes with that combo too.
8:39 "Avoid getting infected," Well gee wilickers, that's all I got to do? Just NOT get infected? Why didn't I think of that! How silly of my, I always try to speed run my infection cuss being healthy is for punks
Ok so I kept watching as they explained you actually COULD avoid getting sick, I personally had NO idea that was a thing, I thought it was just a timer or something so now I just feel silly
my favorite advice for dealing with reapers comes from the admiral in black ops 2 talking about a different type of reaper, "you can run, but you'll die tired" most of the time, if a reaper gets a bead on you, your best bet if youre on foot is to stand your ground and perform a fighting retreat. only pull back when it does, then brace to dodge or toss a stasis shot its way
If you don't move when the crashfish pops out to look around, it won't see you. It looks around for about 30 seconds before retreating. Two hits with the knife when you get on top of it. 2:30
Killing guide for every creature type (in order of difficulty): (Difficulty 1-2/10) Up to stalker-size creatures near sea level: ram with Seamoth or stab repeatedly. Also works with crabsquids if you stab from above (they can't hit back). (Difficulty 2/10) Gasopods: stab, they can't do much to fight back. Also, don't make them an endangered species to collect their gas pod things (important for later). (Difficulty 4/10) Mid to large creatures: use the stasis rife + knife combo or Prawn's grapple arm + drill combo. Leviathans: (Difficulty 7.5/10) Slow way: see [mid to large creatures]. (Difficulty 3/10) Smart way: take a bunch of gasopod gas pod things. Then stasis rifle the reaper and drop the gas pods near it and run. I recommend turning on PDA pausing in the settings. You'll need different amounts of gas pods for different leviathans. To give you some sense of scale, dropping most of your inventory worth of gas pods will consistantly kill sea dragons (accounting for some of them to miss). (Difficulty 7+/10) Reefbacks and Cuddlefish: even though they don't fight back, they're tied for the highest HP stat in the game, so killing them takes a really long time. Feel free to use any method. Fastest method for reefbacks (5/10): gasopod method. However, reefbacks are a bit harder to hit woth this. Fastest method for cuddlefish (0/10): usually, cuddlefish killing difficulty is 10/10 because they're small and fast: hard to hit with any method and too small for gas%. However, you do have one chance to kill them easily: after they atched in your containment unit, DON'T place them outside and instead use them as fuel for the bioreactor. Sea emperor (9/10): cure yourself and escape the planet.
13:38 You have to be careful with this one, hitting them with the repulsion cannon resets the origin point of their patrol radius to where you shot them, so you can inadvertently push them closer to somewhere you don't want them. Or, if you're patient, you can push one wherever you want and it will stay around that spot.
I never use the repulsion cannon, and i always wondered why they never seemed to “roam” far from their designated patrol area in my experiences. Even though i have heard a ton of horror stories though about Reapers leaving their specified locations, and in extreme situations chasing people into neighboring biomes. A little over 1000 hours in the game, and ya just taught me something new lol.
I love your content. You're pleasent to watch, your videos are quite interesting and educative sometimes and also funny and, questionable. Like, why did you built 64 km base to kill boredom? Book is fine 😅. But I am not here to judge. Keep it up with your content and I hope this will help a bit. 😊
Tip here, I got attacked so much from one reaper I found tricks out. So to never get seen when their roaring simply just don't be in their direction and your free.
@@reddragon9447I only found this out cuz I was scoping a reaper in the seamoth so I could see the grab attack, and he kept roaring but not attacking until he finally roared while looking dead at me.
The other option is to hold a fish in your hand when they attack. Instead of doing damage, they'll eat the fish. This works for every predator except the Sea Dragon and Ghost Leviathan. So having a half-filled inventory of Peepers (with one on the quickbar) is a good way to explore dangerous areas.
reaper can't turn quickly, when one charges you simply wait until it's close then dart to the right or left with a sea glide or go above it and it won't be able to turn with you quick enough to kill you.
My strategy to deal with lava larvas on the cyclops is to use both the thermal reactor and shield upgrade. Shield can instantly clear them from your Cyclops and Thermal Reactor is good so you dont run out of energy when gone from your cyclops
Two good things to know about the cyclops are A) if a leviathan is chasing u, as long as ur in a position where it is ramming its head into the back of the cyclops, swimming at any velocity will make it miss every hit and eventually give up. B) if u stop steering the cyclops, fish just kind of forget about ur existence, like its pretty much god mode.
for warpers, it's infection level 0.33f that they trigger, there are a list of triggers that was listed from a guy on reddit. Post was deleted but but you can find it on the wayback machine but the list is as follows, copy/pasted (post text is within the emdashs): ----- *Things that will result in infection:* • ENTERING the Prawn = 0.25f • ENTERING the Cyclops = 0.25f • Entering the Aurora = 0.50f • Entering Gun Island = 0.50f • Passing 1000 meters will cause the infection to reach maximum progression of 1.0f immediately (corresponding to console command 4) • Being bitten by an infected creature = 0.25f • Being noticed by an aggressive creature if the game thinks you should already be infected = 0.25f • There is code in the game to check this each time an aggressive creature targets the player *Things that will not result in infection:* • Entering the void • Going to the rendezvous island • Visiting any particular biome not listed above • Reaching a depth of 999 meters For build triggers: Constructing the trigger object is not what matters - entering the trigger is. This means that you can build a cyclops without triggering infection, you just can't use it. This may not do you much good but it's an important distinction. It is also important to note that some infection triggers are delayed by timeofday change. This means that your scanner will not tell you that you are infected the moment you enter a cyclops, but that the infection will hit when the sun goes down/comes up. This is likely to obfuscate the actual trigger and make it less obvious. ----- u/Uthgaard later said in a comment that 0.75f is triggered by entering the actual gun, the island itself triggers the 0.50f infection. also note that entering any of the main 3 entrance biomes of lost river (bone fields, ghost forest and mountains corridor) is what will put you at 0.75f not 1.0f (full infection) so you can safely get your cuddlefish, nickel and crystalline sulfur. The wiki states anywhere in the lost river but I did my own test on a fresh playthrough and that part did not infect me, I waited 10 in game days and scanned after, no infection, I then did the same with the ghost forest (nothern blood kelp entrance) and got the dialogue for 0.75f infection.
My recent playthrough taught me, I could just kill the Crashfish while it tried to come out of the nest by slicing them. You have to be fast tho. You can also slice them while they try to explode at you. You won't take damage by this
Finally, someone else who knows about this. This also works in a prawn suit. And if you’re careful, you can even punch them while they are still in their nest. They just poke their head out and get absolutely obliterated on the spot by a sucker punch. It makes you feel surprisingly badass at times
Since all fauna except for crashfish and small, edible fish can't respawn after dying, I usually just like to kill certain creatures off if they're too much of a nuisance. For example, if a Reaper Leviathan is a direct threat in an area I know I'm gonna be for a while, I usually just kill it off, not with a stasis rifle and knife, but by attaching two drill arms to my Prawn Suit and going all out on its face when it grabs the vehicle. From my experience, it usually takes three or four full direct face drillings to kill them (and I of course repair my Prawn Suit in between attacks). For Cave Crawlers, I actively target them with my propulsion canon, shooting them towards walls so the collision kills them instantly (I like the Aurora and islands completely clear of them so I can wander without worry.) Biters and Bleeders are also creatures I actively target, I've almost completely rid a Grassy Plateau biome of Biters before. Ramming into them with the seamoth is most affective since they're small and their AI often has them prioritize small, dead fish - even corpses of their own species. So, if there's many in an area, after killing one, it's very easy to kill many more (this goes for both Biters and Bleeders). One difference I've found between the Biter and the Bleeder is that the Bleeder makes a very recognizeable sound when it dies, so it's easy to know if you've killed it.
My base had a Reaper in its backyard for most of the mid-late game. The radar scanner picked it up more often than not. And that Reaper taught me a very important lesson: they can breach the surface when chasing you.
For those who wanna skip through, here are the creatures timestamped, in order of how they’re shown in the video; 0:30 - Gasopod 1:31 - Crashfish 2:32 - Stalker 3:16 - Mesmer 4:09 - Biter 4:39 - Sandshark 5:16 - Crabsnake 6:08 - Cave Crawler 6:52 - Bleeder 7:24 - Boneshark 8:22 - Warper 9:51 - Ampeel 10:49 - Crabsquid 12:04 - Reaper Leviathan 13:41 - Ghost Leviathan 15:08 - Blighter 15:30 - Blood Crawler 15:58 - River Prowler 16:20 - Lava Larva 17:38 - Lava Lizard 18:27 - Sea Dragon Leviathan Leave a like if this helped also like the video too lol it’s a good one
This is actually very educative video and great for newcomers. I hope you will make more guides like this, for Subnautica or maybe Below Zero but no pressure.
If trying to scan, *make a lotta turns.* You can usually finagle *around* them except for Cave Crawlers and Crabsquid. 8:50 The least dangerous spot to get a peek at them is the Grand Reef.
With the reapers, when you do run away make sure to keep going for a while. They'll keep chasing you until you get a certain distance away. If you stop or slow down too much, they have no problem following you across the entire map.
17:00 my strategy for dealing with the lava larva is to look at where they appear on the cyclops display (where you can see health and damage), then shooting them through the wall with a repulsion cannon. That way I don't need the expensive shield generator or to exit the vehicle
3:41 if you are playing any subnautica version with a controller it is impossible to break free from a mesmir unless you play with incredibly high sensitivity
Reaper Leviathan: I'd add this one: if you're driving a Seamoth or Prawn with shockwave module: always use it immediately AFTER you get catch: - the shockwave cancels the catch animation, and therefore the dammages over time. If timed well, you can nearly nullify the dammages on your vehicle. - if timed before the catch, it won't cancel it, making the whole animation and maximum dammages. Sea Dragon Leviatha, while driving a prawn equipped with a grab arm: - Yep. Exactly what you think. Go for the belly, and just enjoy the ride. I usually do this to reach the primary containment facility, dropping when I'm close enough to the entry.
How to deal with all the creatures: Squid: Prawnsuit Reaper: Prawnsuit Ghost: Prawnsuit Sea Dragon: Prawnsuit any more questions? I really appreciate how much effort has gone into making this video, it's well made!
Did you never try feeding a Reaper Leviathan a Peeper? You can literally stay in proximity to a Reaper Leviathan without a vehicle, so long as you have enough peepers to keep them busy. One peeper can give you up to 15 seconds of 'friend status' with a reaper, before their teeny tiny brains forget you exist and attack again, so give them another peeper and you get to be friends for another quarter of a minute :D
A tip for several of those (stalkers, sandsharks, cave crawlers, Warper's teleport, ...) : just keep moving while you're in their territory Hey attack mostly in a straight line, and aren't very fast. As long as you don't stop, you'll dodge most of the attacks without having to pay attention to them.
Breathtaker: "here's ways to outmaneuver the leviathans to stay safe!' Me, activating the cyclops shield before ramming things at top speed blaring the horn
When you mentioner caves, I think we all knew what was coming... Those little beasts were a nightmare on my first playthrough, and their sounds annoy me to this day
If you have an Oculus (the Peeper's cousin from the Glowing Shroom Caves) in your inventory, you can apparently semi-tame a Reaper Leviathan in the same way you can tame Stalkers with Peepers. I've seen other players do this in videos but I'm not brave enough to do this myself.
2:30 I also wanted to add, maybe it's just my luck, but when I encountered a crashfish I wanted to try playing red light green light with it, and when it opened up i stopped moving, and then it closed up again and I moved again and it opened up and didn't see me. Either It's vision is based on movement or just a feature or a glitch I dunno for sure.
@Breathtaker5000 It is designed to do so. It gives a warning cry, if you come closer after the cry, it attacks, if you don't, or if you swim away, it goes inactive again.
The actual strategy for dealing with Reapers is to just... not go where they are in the first place. You don't need to. The only Reaper you ever *need* to worry about is the one that hangs out between the mountain and the Aurora. Outside of that, if you see a Reaper, you're in the wrong place.
@@stoopidkid25 No they're not. You can get those near the Aurora on the shallow side. The worst you have to deal with there is radiation and sand sharks. Alternatively, there's always the Crag Field or the part of the Mountain where the Reapers don't go.
Nobody seems to ever mention this but if you stop piloting the Cyclops any creature outside seems to be unable to attack it until you get back in the driver seat (They may do the initial attack but can't do any more after that and will just shove the Cyclops). Crabsquids will keep EMP blasting but they cant actually damage it so if a big creature starts charging it just simply stop driving
A little known trick for Crashfish is that by holstering your tools with I think shift or pressing the related number key, you can swim just fast enough to avoid getting bombed
I saw a comment talk about it, but Bonesharks die after you run into them twice with your Seamoth. Found that when i got annoyed with them running into my Seamoth, like "You wanna run into my Seamoth ? Fine, I'll bring my Seamoth to you 🤨" I dont know if running into them makes a lot of damage to the Seamoth though, i only did it in creative so far hehehe 😅
bonesharks are actually attracted to light! if you turn off the seamoth lights before you get out they might still hit it if its in their way but they will leave it alone
Another good strategy for the lava larvae is to use the cyclops thermal charging module. Since lava larvae can only be found in the lava zone, the module can use the heat in the lava zone to recharge while the lava larvae drain the power. The module charges the cyclops so much in the lava zone that the lava larvae can't keep up with it, so they won't even be in issue anymore. Just remember to get them off when you're returning to the surface.
"Look who got stasised first." "Prank him, John!" "Hehe, you already know." *Over 30 gas pods get dropped in the creature's face* About warpers, I've heard that the worse the infection is, the more damage they deal to you, is that true? Also, can they be killed nowadays without cheating? I never properly tried, but just thought they're invincible after hitting one many times, and on his 15th teleport I gave up.
Well... About Sea Dragons. They can do firebreathe in two different ways: 1) rapid fire 2) single (and much stronger) blast. And while you still shouldn't underestimate rapid fire, do not forget about that single blast attack, which can completely destroy your Prawn Suit, even if it's docked inside the Cyclops. (not kidding here, I saw it) It's AOE is clearly huge enough to that, so, stay away from the ground, fighting that beast. I'd recommend poison, but you'll need A LOT of it, because there are three of them in total. Could be stucked in textures, though, if you'll be lucky enough.
I went through multiple playthroughs of subnautica without a single Mesmer encounter, the first time I had one was when I tried to figure out what it does 😂
I remember meeting crashfish for the first time, it terrified me so much I got goosebumps, not a single other creature in this game can make me that scare, not even the reaper
I like the crashfish nuclear option for dealing with things, you need creature containment, eggs, and a propulsion cannons, if you aim right, you can one shot a reaper
something that also works against the lava larvae while in the cyclops is the repulsion cannon as its blast goes through cyclops walls. This way you can stay in the ship and in my experience its saves a lot of power as activating the shield already drains a lot. Just watchout to not hit any interiors like lockers or fabricators. In my recent run they can get catapulted out of the ship if you hit them.
So for the crashfish, the reason swimming directly at them works is because they explode from a sudden change in direction. In other words, if you have one following you, usually just taking a sharp turn around a corner is enough to get away and cause an explosion. This is helpful if youre in an area where swimming directly at them isnt very easy 😊👍
My favorite methods for dealing with most of the fish are one of the following: - if I don't feel like fighting, swim away - swipe at aggressive fish with my knife to get them away - grappling hook & drill arm whenever I see a Leviathan (after the 5th Leviathan it kinda just becomes second nature)
Bonesharks don't attack seamoths if the light is off, so they can be left anywhere in boneshark territory as long as you remember to turn off the lights.

It changed the game for me entirely when I started treating Reapers like a pet and feeding them constantly
@ Right?! I have a lovely photo of Peter above my bed in my Playthrough.
Very useful!
No need for all this, just stasis rifle everything

Stasis rifle is for the scaredy cats
Yeah, the stasis rifle is pretty OP when you think about it :)

Another good tip with cave crawlers is just ignore them. They attack by jumping from a distance so if you ignore them they'll jump at you and you would have already gotten out of the way, unless the cave crawler is in front of you though, then it'll hit you
When I visit the aurora I start the crawler space program with my propulsion cannon.
The Mesmer will always be my fav creature, the way it uses your PDA's automated voice just makes it so much more unique

Very true
I love them for whatever reason I like having a little friend with me.
I’ll have to try this at some point :)

Ive only encountered it once in the mushroom forest
They are one of the rarer fish encounters. There aren't many of them, and they are most commonly found in deep caves.
They are My second fish even to i found it 3 times in 2 diferent save files.
If they charge at you and you suddenly dive, they just ... miss.
It also works if you swim above them, Reapers ain't scary, they're just dumb.
Its also because they have horrid eyesight that they don't see you dodging em
I just got subnautica like a week ago and I’ve been watching your videos and I find then extremely entertaining and useful keep up the good work
Thanks! Glad you like the videos!
Another note for Crashfish, if you hit them once with a knife they do the popping animation but don't cause an explosion or do any damage
Hey dude, I don’t know if anyone else mentioned this, but reaper leviathans DO have some bioluminescence on part of the red section of their spine. It’s VERY faint however so it is understandable to not notice it in actual gameplay, but the bioluminescence does exist!

KILL THEM ALL!!!
Two complaints about the Crash Fish.
1) They don't seem to respawn so their material is limited
2) What biological advantage does it provide to explode when someone swims near you? How does that help the species survive?
Most creatures probably know to avoid them at this point

Reaper:
Turn on Seamoth lights, use as bait, aim for sea moth with stasis rifle, catch Reaper; Stab until dead, intermittently re-stasising.
(If they attack directly, stay near flat surface and hit the surface with the rifle)
Using scanner to mark them also helps track them.
Repeat until entire population is extinct.
Actually enjoy the game.
I love the second strategy for the bleeders, “don’t go AFK for 3 hours” is perfect!

The regular reaper leviathans only take 2+ minutes with that combo too.

my favorite advice for dealing with reapers comes from the admiral in black ops 2 talking about a different type of reaper, "you can run, but you'll die tired"
most of the time, if a reaper gets a bead on you, your best bet if youre on foot is to stand your ground and perform a fighting retreat. only pull back when it does, then brace to dodge or toss a stasis shot its way
Yeah, the worst thing you can do is take your eyes off of it and run

Killing guide for every creature type (in order of difficulty):
(Difficulty 1-2/10)
Up to stalker-size creatures near sea level: ram with Seamoth or stab repeatedly. Also works with crabsquids if you stab from above (they can't hit back).
(Difficulty 2/10)
Gasopods: stab, they can't do much to fight back. Also, don't make them an endangered species to collect their gas pod things (important for later).
(Difficulty 4/10)
Mid to large creatures: use the stasis rife + knife combo or Prawn's grapple arm + drill combo.
(Difficulty 7+/10)
Reefbacks and Cuddlefish: even though they don't fight back, they're tied for the highest HP stat in the game, so killing them takes a really long time.
Let me know if I missed anything or if you want specifics
17:41 RIP infected Lava Prowler bro lmao
1:43 you can also kill the crashfish by slashing them with a survival knife (they will not explode when killed so don’t worry) (do NOT miss)
15:14 top right “vehicular fishslaughter” 😂😂😂

You have to be careful with this one, hitting them with the repulsion cannon resets the origin point of their patrol radius to where you shot them, so you can inadvertently push them closer to somewhere you don't want them.

Tip here, I got attacked so much from one reaper I found tricks out. So to never get seen when their roaring simply just don't be in their direction and your free.
Btw how I know this is because I got harassed by one reaper near my base 😂
@@reddragon9447I only found this out cuz I was scoping a reaper in the seamoth so I could see the grab attack, and he kept roaring but not attacking until he finally roared while looking dead at me.
The other option is to hold a fish in your hand when they attack. Instead of doing damage, they'll eat the fish. This works for every predator except the Sea Dragon and Ghost Leviathan. So having a half-filled inventory of Peepers (with one on the quickbar) is a good way to explore dangerous areas.
@@GeneGear I thought that was a myth or mod? I saw a video on it previously, I guess it isn't a mod or something fake. That's very interesting!
reaper can't turn quickly, when one charges you simply wait until it's close then dart to the right or left with a sea glide or go above it and it won't be able to turn with you quick enough to kill you.
My strategy to deal with lava larvas on the cyclops is to use both the thermal reactor and shield upgrade. Shield can instantly clear them from your Cyclops and Thermal Reactor is good so you dont run out of energy when gone from your cyclops
Good combo
Two good things to know about the cyclops are
A) if a leviathan is chasing u, as long as ur in a position where it is ramming its head into the back of the cyclops, swimming at any velocity will make it miss every hit and eventually give up.
B) if u stop steering the cyclops, fish just kind of forget about ur existence, like its pretty much god mode.
This is really high quality, good work!
I don't even play Subnautica...
for warpers, it's infection level 0.33f that they trigger, there are a list of triggers that was listed from a guy on reddit. Post was deleted but but you can find it on the wayback machine
but the list is as follows, copy/pasted (post text is within the emdashs):
-----
*Things that will result in infection:*
• ENTERING the Prawn = 0.25f
• ENTERING the Cyclops = 0.25f
• Entering the Aurora = 0.50f
• Entering Gun Island = 0.50f
• Passing 1000 meters will cause the infection to reach maximum progression of 1.0f immediately (corresponding to console command 4)
• Being bitten by an infected creature = 0.25f
• Being noticed by an aggressive creature if the game thinks you should already be infected = 0.25f
• There is code in the game to check this each time an aggressive creature targets the player
*Things that will not result in infection:*
• Entering the void
• Going to the rendezvous island
• Visiting any particular biome not listed above
• Reaching a depth of 999 meters
For build triggers: Constructing the trigger object is not what matters - entering the trigger is.
-----
u/Uthgaard later said in a comment that 0.75f is triggered by entering the actual gun, the island itself triggers the 0.50f infection. also note that entering any of the main 3 entrance biomes of lost river (bone fields, ghost forest and mountains corridor) is what will put you at 0.75f not 1.0f (full infection) so you can safely get your cuddlefish, nickel and crystalline sulfur.

A BZ video would be interesting due to the game’s lack of a stasis rifle
If trying to scan, *make a lotta turns.*
You can usually finagle *around* them except for Cave Crawlers and Crabsquid.
8:50 The least dangerous spot to get a peek at them is the Grand Reef.
With the reapers, when you do run away make sure to keep going for a while. They'll keep chasing you until you get a certain distance away. If you stop or slow down too much, they have no problem following you across the entire map.
Nothing worse than a reaper following you into the shallows :(
18:37 They are easy to aviod if you just hook your prawnsuit grapple arm onto the leviathan. They can do nothing.
Fair point
17:00
my strategy for dealing with the lava larva is to look at where they appear on the cyclops display (where you can see health and damage), then shooting them through the wall with a repulsion cannon. That way I don't need the expensive shield generator or to exit the vehicle
3:41 if you are playing any subnautica version with a controller it is impossible to break free from a mesmir unless you play with incredibly high sensitivity
If you could counter strike a mesmir trying to shank you with its tongue blade thing I would literally be like. Nah I shank you
Reaper Leviathan: I'd add this one: if you're driving a Seamoth or Prawn with shockwave module: always use it immediately AFTER you get catch:
- the shockwave cancels the catch animation, and therefore the dammages over time. If timed well, you can nearly nullify the dammages on your vehicle.
- if timed before the catch, it won't cancel it, making the whole animation and maximum dammages.
Sea Dragon Leviatha, while driving a prawn equipped with a grab arm:
- Yep. Exactly what you think. Go for the belly, and just enjoy the ride. I usually do this to reach the primary containment facility, dropping when I'm close enough to the entry.
I was attacked by a sea dragon yesterday, i turned into spider prawn for a sec
I did the exact same thing lol. It took abt 10 minutes but I eventually killed it with my drill attachment

@@darkheartplays007 you aren't ever there for very long, a quick temporary solution that costs nothing is often the best.
A tip for several of those (stalkers, sandsharks, cave crawlers, Warper's teleport, ...) :
just keep moving while you're in their territory
Hey attack mostly in a straight line, and aren't very fast.
As long as you don't stop, you'll dodge most of the attacks without having to pay attention to them.

When you mentioner caves, I think we all knew what was coming... Those little beasts were a nightmare on my first playthrough, and their sounds annoy me to this day
They do be annoying
Oh well, if you don’t get too close, they just give you a little peek before going back in. Maybe that was it.
I feel like I had something similar happen to me while filming for this vid, I’ll definitely need to look into it further

BUT EVERYWHERE THE CYCLOPS ENGINE FRAGMENTS ARE THEY ARE TOO its not like they are hard to avoid its just im a baby
"Look who got stasised first."
"Prank him, John!"
"Hehe, you already know."
*Over 30 gas pods get dropped in the creature's face*
About warpers, I've heard that the worse the infection is, the more damage they deal to you, is that true? Also, can they be killed nowadays without cheating? I never properly tried, but just thought they're invincible after hitting one many times, and on his 15th teleport I gave up.
I do love violating the Genova conventions 🥰
I didn’t know the Mesmer was a thing until it was too late. Scared the ever loving shit out of me.
I went through multiple playthroughs of subnautica without a single Mesmer encounter, the first time I had one was when I tried to figure out what it does 😂
I found that flares and I quote from the game”can distract or make some creatures scared or attracted to the flare” so there is use in that.
Good watch, I enjoyed it! With 10 billion hours on the game there's not much left for me to learn though lmao
My favorite methods for dealing with most of the fish are one of the following:
- if I don't feel like fighting, swim away
- swipe at aggressive fish with my knife to get them away
- grappling hook & drill arm whenever I see a Leviathan (after the 5th Leviathan it kinda just becomes second nature)
Heres a tip you can tame a staker with a peeper fish but only for a short while thought
I love how Subnautica and it's community simply refuses to die and keeps going with new stuff to do and or discuss
"Their bio luminescence means you can almost always see them coming" as he shows a clip of a ghost fading into the near blue
You forgot "Don't play chicken with the Reefback Leviathans while in the Cyclops."
Very true
Bonesharks don't attack seamoths if the light is off, so they can be left anywhere in boneshark territory as long as you remember to turn off the lights.
