My ride or die item is the air bag, which can launch almost 100 meters up in a matter of seconds, and in sub zero, allows you to get up onto otherwise inaccessible ice burgs
It used to be awful now its amazing in the early game. Super underrated.
@@pancake248 I always use it, on everything, in both games. It is way too much fun, and it’s faster than a reaper
Even more than 100 meters. I always use it for the Jelly Shroom. Goes the 180m all the way! Most underrated Item in the game (after the 2.0 update. Before it was useless).
@@MaisistkeinGemuese I love the damn thing, it’s even useful in below zero, where you can cheat multiple things with it, like the bridge.

Bladderfish are such amazing little guys. They are mega helpfull and deserve way more love. And their ability to give Oxygen is super usefull!

these are so spongy, gristly and with such a low calorie count i won't even consider cooking them

Fun Fact: a speedrun strat I saw for this game involves crafting a moonpool, then;
placing the moonpool right before you drown,
respawning in the moonpool, swimming further down,
and repeating.
This is technically not using a base for oxygen.
That removes a lot of the challenge

If you respawn in the moonpool, you are in a base and therefore are using a base for oxygen, even if it is only for a few seconds.

Bladderfish are so OP
They're a water source
They're a food source
And apparently an oxygen source
They really are, they give everything essential to life
Instead of making filtered water, you should have made disinfected water from salt and tube coral, it is worth 35 points of hydration, whereas the filtered water is only 20. You could've been more space efficient with disinfected water.
Tbh disinfected water is my go to, from the beginning to the end of the game. It's actually 30 water per bottle, but you also get two at once so you get 60 water from just a piece of salt and coral tube
Plus you can craft the bleach and just not turn it into the water until you need it to save on storage space

I go for water filtration, 100 water as soon as you get back to base, and stock them up, just use some bladderfish as biofuel :)
But disinfected water isn't made from bladderfish. >:(

You should have made grav traps! they make it so much easier to gather fish!
And the air bladder for that matter, it makes shallow movement waaaayyyy nicer, and it fits the theme!

I just remembered how those lil guys in very early access were called airsacks
The bladderfish was an inside joke in my friend group so this is especially amazing
This just reminded me of the pure fear i had when i lost my seamoth at the 500m degasi base in my no O2 tank run
This is a really unique concept for a challenge, and was a very good watch!

Right? Like, they're there but why wouldn't he just go in the caves in the shallows or near the red sea grass. I'm pretty sure I never went into the jelly mushroom cove until I needed lithium

Although I've been screaming the rebreather the entire time lol, it's basically crucial even if you're trying to go without 02
You can also use bleach to make water which would've heavily reduced your reliance on bladderfish :V

I screwed up when first playing. I couldn't figure out how to make much of the more advanced stuff, but I did find that underwater growing bed. So I grew a trail of the coral that emits bubbles of air to go anywhere deep. I made a trail all over the damn map before I figured out how to make a seamoth.

I like to use grav traps when hunting bladder fish. The problem is remembering to leave enough space in your inventory to pick up the trap
Worth mentioning that you only drop "new" items when you die meaning anything you picked up since you left a habitat. Therefore death runs are not risky at all

A curious thing, that "dive to a cashe, use contents to dive deeper, to place a deeper cashe" problem, if you instead make it an army trying to cross a desert, is a classic problem in mathmatics and logistics.
I love these types of challenge videos, kudos to you! Can you please attempt the same challenge in Below Zero? You have to go deep over and over again to progress that game!

air bladders would be so much more OP.
They are made from bladderfish, can also give 15 seconds of oxygen when depleted, don't remove water points and most importantly - they recharge in air.

is it posible to make it to the bottom of the void only using 5 bladderfish?
You could've built a deep base with no power supply and put an aquarium in it for a bladderfish supply. No power means you don't get oxygen by using it and the aquarium doesn't need it.
I think this will effect the bladderfish population
You could also have done multipurpose rooms full of big lockers but just not power it

The rebreather takes away the oxygen problem from going deep? I thought it was the reinforced dive suit that did that
Nope, R dive suit makes you immune to heat damage, tiger plant thorns, and reduces damage taken from hostile creatures

This video didn't have enough bladder fish I feel.
You know, you could have built multiple multipurpose rooms underwater, and just not powered them- so they wouldn't refill your Oxygen.
If you spaced them out right, you could have Alien containment units in each, and hop from room to room, to grab fish in each, to make it through the deep areas. 🤔
