  • 1.38.63 personal best from my third time running Laguna Seca in the F80.
Finally had the chance to run Laguna in the dry. Was excellent. No river at turn 3!!!! YAY
Was laying down 1.38-39 from the very first session to the last. Still have some room to improve but I am happy with my new PB. Down from a 1.41.81 in the wet - dec 2022 before the repave.
After comparing my Garmin lap traces to my bimmerboyz friends. There are several sections that I am 5-10mph slower in comparison. Need to try and grow some balls on a few corners and match their speeds. Can definitely shave this down a good bit after reviewing data.
Finally upgraded my Apex staggered wheels to a square 10.5 Bimmerworld setup. Running 295 all around and it was worth the upgrade over 275/305. Much more front-end grip. The car does NOT want to slide anymore. Very hooked up. Can also stop wasting my rears and rotate.
Was also my first time running RE71RS on the F80. They did not disappoint.
I think that I need to upgrade my spring rates on these super sticky tires. Had a little rear rubbing but nothing that I haven't already had on my old setup.
I also feel a front sway bar would help out. Didn't notice the front rolling at laguna like I did out at Streets of willow and buttonwillow. Maybe it is the tire difference, ECF vs RE71? The walls are much stiffer on RE71, I know that.
7/26/22 track day hosted by Speed SF. Red Group (Fast - Open Passing 1).

Great driving!!! 138 is flying!!!! Your audio sounds amazing, where do you place your mic? When I place mine outside on the bumper it gets wayyyy too distorted

Depends on what camera setup you have. For the mic2 you need to set the gain to -12 or so. Make sure you have 32-float audio turned on. I mount it to the left side of license plate facing mic up with windsock on.

Excellent video, thank you. What was the sound limit that day? I have the Bimmerworld GTMore exhaust (still have all catalytic converters installed) and am curious if I will have any issues with a 105db limit. Headed there in Aug. Thanks for the all info on your car!

105 day. You should have no issue at a 105 day. I actually didnt test what the f80 blew. Was supposed to take my e46 that blows 93 but had an issue with that car so I took the F80 last minute. Id GUESS im right above the 92db limit too on f80 with valves open.

Very nice fast laps with good lines! How much HP is the car making? It accelerates pretty well for being a what looks like a full weight car.

Base non-comp model is 425. I have a CS bootmod3 tune and midpipe. Id say around ~460? Just matches the CS model numbers.

F8X cars are great value for the track. Don't need much to really have a killer car. Coilovers/tires/pads. Cooling is excellent. All the power you need. You are set.

@@Driver_407 Very nice, it accelerates almost exactly well as my 95hp 380lb motorcycle up to corkscrew / down front straight, so i was interested in knowing its power/weight.
Best time I've done on that bike at Laguna was 1:36.5 last year right after repave in July 2023.
However I'm getting a 330i soon (msport suspension, open diff, but msport brakes) and am interested in doing a track day at laguna atleast once.
