Your instructional track videos are forever prepping me for my 1st track day at manny of our Calif tracks. Willow Springs, Cal Speedway and now Laguna Seca are all residing on my iTouch via TubeSock. Your such an asset to all new trackers. Thanks Colin. zornet
Awesome video! Learning this track in games was a nightmare but when I figured it out, it was a lot of fun to drive. Could not imagine in real life. Takes some courage.
Thanks for the Video! I have done HPDE1 at Thunder Hill and although im signed off to do HPDE2, I am a bit nervous tackling Laguna Seca without an instructor. This helped a lot.
Thanks for the video it helped me enormously on my first track day at Laguna. I have some vid of my second trip to Laguna posted. Checking out your Buttonwillow vid today as I go there this week. Thanks again.
Only thing its missing is where to exit for pit road. Good video I like the descriptions overlayed with the video. Got my first track day @ Mazda on Monday can't wait.
iRacing is on another level from Gran Turismo and Forza. It's hard to explain, but after playing iRacing for a few months I went back to GT5 and it was horrible. Really can't play it anymore. Above all else, it has great competition and it's a great training tool if you want to learn the layout of a track you plan on going to.
Have you tried Assetto Corsa? I played it in my friend's PC with a G27, and you can feel it's way superior to GT6. I'd like to know how it compares to other PC racing sims, though.
I like the new RaceRoom Racing Experience, their marketing model is a bit flawed imo but cars feel very realistic with Get Real driving model and without assists. You can really feel the car with a good steering wheel.
Hi. Great video! I love this track, I just raced on this track in Forza 3 after watching this video and I got better time because I had always struggled on turn 11. =) How can I drive (not real race, just driving for fun) on this track in real life? Like how much do I pay, what kind of days are available? Thanks so much
Could you pass this track through using Viper GTS? I've got a bunch of problems with getting the gold licence in Gran Turismo 2, so that kind of tutorial would be helpful. Thanks :) Great vid, btw :)
Is it weird that I know this track's every nook and cranny because of GT5? Btw I played the same track in forza and its not as realistic as the one in gt5. Thank god for racing simulation lol
@@colinlucas Yeah. I think the racing line would actually open up the measurement, anyway. When I take a picture of that map and then measure it with an iPhone app protractor, I get 95 degrees. The 100 degrees figure came from the racing coach I was riding with and I was just faithfully (or is that blindly) repeating what I heard on Friday. It doesn't matter that much. I had way more trouble with the braking for turn 2. Something about coming over that rise at 100 mph and looking down the hill at the end of the straight made me want to immediately brake.
@@dwinsemius I always screw up turn two in the simulators. You lose the fear that makes you brake early enough for a tight downhill corner. Its funny, the reason that I made this video years ago was because I was instructing that day and was in a Corvette with a student. We were coming down the straight just before the rise and she looked over at me and asked if the next turn was a left or a right.

Excellent! Thank you very much!
Great video! Going to the Jag driver's instruction at Laguna in June. The XKR driver's cars should be a hoot at this track! Thanks for the video!
Love your videos
Excellent. Big help on #2....when to bring it in for the late apex.
When you are playing Real Racing 3, this could bring you some dejavu experience...
Thanks for the video it helped me enormously on my first track day at Laguna.

who is watching this in 2018?
Line hasn't changed and it comes up pretty high in searches. As soon as I can get up there again i'll take a higher res video.
Turn 3 is 100 degrees.
It does not appear to be. imgur.com/a/k2SqmlS
@@colinlucas Put the base of the protractor on the racing line.
@@dwinsemius "X% turn" is the actual turn, not the racing line, but with it at the racing line its almost the exact same.
