    How to replace the fuel filter in a Lincoln Town car (or Ford Crown Vic or Mercury Grand Marquis).
    You don't even need to jack the car up- leave all 4 wheels on the ground.
    Fuel pressure in the line is low so you don't need to 'relieve' pressure.
    2018 is my 12th year on UA-cam with this very channel.
    Thank you all. Jevin

    No, the first thing is to kill the pressure in the engine, the fuel rail have a valve like the tires, so you push down the stem and then remove the fuel filter. Sorry my friend but that step is very important.

    Jevin, my Town Car has over 100K so I believe a new fuel filter is overdue, but I do have some questions: Why isn't there any gasoline pouring out? I have always feared that if I attempted to change it, that gasoline would start shooting out? The other question I have is, should one disconnect any electrical item like the battery when doing this? Thanks for the video and I hope it is as easy as you make it seem. :)

    • @JevinDeml
      @JevinDeml  5 років тому +3

      Yes disconnecting the battery would be a good idea just for safety (I should have mentioned that here)
      Some gas should come out of the lines when you disconnect them- but it's not alot of gas, it not under high pressure.
      At about 2:08 in the video you can see wet pavement where some gas dripped out after I disconnected the line (I needed both hands to do that so I put the camera down)
      But you dont have to worry about gas 'shooting out' after disconnecting the lines with the engine off.
      Im not sure why no gas at all would come out of the lines after disconnecting them if that happens- but wouldn't worry about it as long as the car ran ok before and after.

      Electric fuel pump controls the flow from the tank. Pump off, no pressure, no flow from gas tank .

  • @RodknockRhett

    Make sure you fuel the fuel pump relay while it’s running to relieve the system of pressure. Otherwise, you’ll be in for a treat if the car has been running recently.

    When it ran just a lil did the engine light or any warning lights come on? Try disconnecting the fuel hose from the engine and starting it. If fuel squirts out the fuel system should be ok. If not- sounds like a bad fuel pump.

    I didn't relieve the pressure its not necessary. The fuel pressure is low and there's not much fuel in the lines, maybe 3 or 4 cups worth. I just let it run out on the ground and sprinkled some kitty litter to soak it up.
