Michael Caine wasn't wrong tho, love to hear the cast of The Dark Knight speaking so nice positively about him.
Caine knows his stuff. Dude is a legend. He knows good work
@@youtubesucks3811once Heath passed us was virtually assured that he would win. He did deserve the win, obviously, but there wasn’t going to be any anti-super hero bias in relation to Heath because of his untimely death.
My cocaine
@@Thor-Orion
It always pisses me off when slackjawed morons say that Heath won the Oscar out of pity. That is one of the most insulting things I’ve ever heard. His role as the Joker will be studied in film schools for hundreds of years.
@@YogsenForfoth I never said he won it out of pity. The performance is amazing, but the Academy Awards are a super pretentious self-congratulation fest. There’s typically a strong anti-comic book movie sentiment which often prevents deserving candidates from being seriously considered for awards that they should be in the running to win simply because the movie is based on a graphic novel iP.
I’m not entirely sure if you’re implying that I’m a “slack jawed moron” for pointing this fact out, but someone deserving an award seldom guarantees that they’ll win it. Val Kilmer didn’t win the AA for his portrayal of Doc Holiday and that performance will be studied in acting schools for as long as acting schools continue to exist.
These awards are all about Hollywood politics, it’s not insulting to point out the truth, anyone who feels insulted by the truth lives in a fantasy world.
A Knights Tale. Great acting from the whole cast, the story, the music - love that film
One of, if not, my favourite film
I was just thinking about that movie, it was my favorite as a kid
same, one of the go-to's I was raised on
Definitely a Feel Good movie! We don't get many Feel Good movies anymore. Best type of movie to throw on during a rainy day or laying down in bed!
I think it’s actually a perfect movie except for the clothes they dressed the leading lady in...Actually it was just the stiff white and black number that I didn’t like but the movie was great and the soundtrack was great it was just perfect I miss Heath so much and I’m extra careful with medicine because of what happened with him.
RIP Heath. Still very much missed.
What Matt Damon said though....what an amazing thing to say about Heath if you stop to think that Damon has worked with so many amazing, talented actors...I can't say I disagree with him. Daniel Day Lewis has said some very nice things about Heath too.
On the departed alone he worked with several better actors lol. People seem to only say this type of stuff about dead people.
@@lilsqueezie don’t think any actors in the Departed ever had a role as consensually recognized, influential, and iconic’s as Heath’s Joker . It’s a once in a generation performance
@@JELL0521Jack Nicholson has entered the chat.
@@JELL0521 jack Nicholson literally played one of the original most iconic jokers lol. Are you super young or something?
@lilsqueezie Nicholson's Joker is nowhere near the same level of cultural impact. It was noteworthy in its time for getting audiences to take the Joker seriously, sure, but comparatively how many people are still to this day talking about & emulating his character vs Ledger's?
To hear Matt Damon, who has worked with so many great actors, say that Heath was the best actor he’s ever worked with, and to hear Joaquin Phoenix, who is one of the greatest actors of his generation, say that Heath was his favorite actor really puts into perspective just how talented Heath Ledger was.
I don’t believe them
Did they say these things before or after his death?
Joass Phoenix isn’t a great actor he just plays the same awkward goofy stalker character in every movie
Maybe they don’t mean it by just talent tho, but also by personality. Enjoying working with someone is much more than just their skills related to the work, but their personality that makes work fun, memorable, and enjoyable.

Jake: the experience was deep
He went really deep with that role.
😂
Balls deep,🤷♂️
So deep, so deep, he put that ass to sleep.

😂😂
He seemed like such a beautiful soul. We need more people like him. One of too many taken too young. May be rest in peace 💙💔
Don't do pharmaceuticals, kids
@@BeunibsterThat's not true, you can do pharmaceuticals. The problem begins when you begin to allow them to do YOU instead.
He is a beautiful soul
Looking back, he was so young yet so incredibly talented. He was in his 20s and did all that.
Really makes you think of the career he would have had. The joker performance put him in the tier of DDL, Bale, Nicholson, DiCaprio, Pacino, De Niro (can’t stand him, but he was sold).
I was the key costumer on Brokeback and looked after all the cast on set.
Heath loved acting but hated the publicity machine that went around after the movie promoting it. He just wanted to shoot the movie and move on.
His dream was to direct and knew his path there was through his roles on film.
Ironically in this clip the winter scene with Michelle was the very first thing we shot in pre-production. The sled hit a bump and they flew in the air with Heath landing on Michelle and hurt her leg. She ended up on crutches and almost recast!! What a different movie that would have been.
Liar
@@spec2be
What!? Dafaq!!
@@gonzoguy-ra what happened?
And hate to say it, but likely he’d be alive. Since his friends said he was struggling coping with the breakup with Michelle and her living in NY while he was in Australia with their child. Not blaming her of course for his death, but it’s amazing how certain moments have chain reactions and those too have reactions
@@spec2beJesus, you do know humans work on these movies right? You do know those same humans have access to wifi and watch UA-cam just like you and me right? But no, of course this is too far fetched smh
He was my favorite actor as a kid, I used to watch a Knight's Tale over and over
Yeah he was goofy as shit in that. Cool movie
I still do.
Me too, its the only time I ever shed a tear over the death of a celebrity. Gone too young 😢
@@Spuckeblase That's how I felt when Norm MacDonald died, but yeah Heath was way too young. He died when I was a teenager and now I'm older than he was...very sad
Yup, I used to fall asleep to it everynight. Unfortunately I had it on VHS and no longer have a VCR. Gonna have to buy a DVD version soon, it's been too long. Since I've seen it.
The quote about darkness. Don't dismiss it being there because the person is full of life. Many of the most vibrant human beings have had a darkness within they struggle with. Often times the most lively face the deepest darkness.
Polarization. Sometimes having a strong darkness gives one the capacity/ability to have a stronger than average bright/light side.
@fettub92 ABSOLUTELY 💯!
Yea, like Robin Williams
True, look at Robin Williams. The fact they’re super vibrant on the outside doesn’t always mean someone doesn’t have any demons or torment to struggle with within. On the contrary, sometimes it’s an outward opposite reaction to the darkness inside. or maybe they care a lot about the people around them, but not as much about themselves, so they entertain others, but all the praise will never make them love themselves as much as others love them.
He was murdered.
“What do you have to say about this dead guy?”
“Well he really loved living, that’s what I know for sure.”
😂😂
it do be like that
Maybe you don't remember, or you're just too young, but part of the reason they're specifically like that with Heath is because right after his death, ALL of the news articles and entertainment articles were peddling this false narrative that he was insanely depressed and some were even floating the idea that he committed suicide and that he had gone too method with the Joker role when that wasn't the case at all. Paul Bettany alludes to it in this video here.
Well said! And of course it wasn't his final role (that would be the Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus).
@@CameronJamesPhillips I’ve been living under a rock I guess because that’s still the narrative that I know. Now I need to do some research to find out the current narrative of his passing.
i love every film i’ve ever seen him in. he was at that high level. you know the ones. daniel day, bale, de niro, etc
Heath was something else,he was a soul who shine in the dark, brought joy and made everybody feel himself/herself,courageous,spontaneous,a truly and real artist ,so sad he gone so soon,RIP Heath Ledger!😢❤😢❤
His passing left such a huge hole. what an absolute treasure he was to all who worked with him, and more importantly, to all who loved him as family and a friend. ❤
Rest In Love Sir.

This is so inspiring to to hear the truth about heath....
How good is an actor he was how he enjoyed living his life, and how gracious all the actors have such positive things to say about him....
❤ So nice to hear positive thoughts about Heath ❤
Maggie has the dreamiest eyes...just beautiful.
Agreed
Bruh you and the people who upvoted you need your eyes checked. She literally looks like Miss Piggy
Always had a thing about Maggie. Prefer Jake though he’s stunning
🤮
I had a crush on her ever since I saw Cecil B. Demented
Such a beautiful spirit
A knights tale is still up there as one of my favorite movies. Such a fun film to watch.
It really is a shame that people will always remember Heath with that paint on and surround him with the darkness of the Joker (the entire movie is phenomenal! To this day still the best Joker outside Mark Hamill's voice in the animated versions/games) He always seemed so happy and loving.
Generational talent. Hes missed
“In their last moments, people show you who they really are”
Well in Ledger’s last moments, he showed us who he really was, he’s one of the best actors and joker’s to ever be played
I don't know why, but this still makes me cry. It's wonderful to hear he was so alive and engaged, and not the depressed or tortured person the media has perpetrated him to be! ❤❤❤
Interesting how many people note just how ALIVE he was before his death.
Hmm, great observation!
Are you thinking it's just lip service, or are you leaning more towards a philosophical insight about perception, or grief, or reputations after death, etc. ?
@@Thunderrolls I just think it’s poor word choice. “What was he like before he died?” “He was just very alive.”
Alive isn’t the state of body. Its his joy of life. Think they want to emphazise on the opposite of what media told after his death „dark, broken, depressed“ (although you can be depressed and still have the will to live). I really dont know what happened, none of us does, but they just express their own experiences being around him. I’ll just never forget his smile 💔
@@FoxTheSwiftthey didn’t mean in a literal biological sense… are you foreign or 12?
@@PoorEdwardwhy you gotta be like that? 😒
He never wake up from that night. He was so
Legendary what was next for him. We will never know. That’s so tragic it stopped. We lost someone we need. 💔
Sometimes the most passionate people, the most vibrant and alive ones are the ones who are actually suffering the most inside.
And they know, how beautiful life is in comparison to the pain they’re holding inside. He was an exceptional actor, why does anyone even question the fact that he could hide his pain so well.
Whatever the case, it was too soon and it was a great loss for humanity and human culture.
Bless you Heath.
Rest In Peace
🪦💐🌼🌻🌷🌺🌸🪻🌹
We all hide our darkness bro, it's gotta be hard when you knew him
Hope you're truly at peace Heath ❤
That ending tore my fuckin heart out, man. God, they all loved him so much. What an incredible guy.
Side note, it’s so weird to me to see Christian Bale talking about him. Cuz I don’t see it as Bale and Ledger working together, its Batman and the Joker only 😂
Very much feel the same way. Lol especially because there doesn't seem to be much press stuff at the time of them getting interviewed together either. Think that contributes to it. But they both nailed it so hard that that's definitely how it feels
That was so awesome to hear how they loved ledger. Its so sad he passed RIP Heath
Four feathers ,lords of dog town ,ned kelly and candy are my favourite heath ledger films .
A knights tale is one of my favorite movies because it’s such a spoof of a movie but then suddenly it is telling a heartfelt story that has you fully engaged and you don’t even notice it’s happening
I have fond memories a Australian movie he did years and years ago. He was brilliant when he was younger. I still can't believe he died so young. May he live in Hollywood's memory like mine forever.
That's the thing about real depression...the ones that feel it the worst try their best to make everyone else smile because we don't want anyone to feel the hell we feel in our heads
The Matt Damon quote
is pretty profound, considering the fact that Damon acted opposite:
1. ROBIN WILLIAMS in Good Will Hunting (a role that won Williams an Academy Award).
2. TOM HANKS in Saving Private Ryan (for which Hanks was nominated for an Academy Award)
3. JEFF BRIDGES in True Grit (for which Bridges was also nominated for an Academy Award).
4. Countless other actors that acted opposite Damon.
It's so disturbing and bizarre (and a little bit of a copout) when dead people are posthumously described as having been SO ALIVE. Why is it no one currently alive is described this way?
Jake actually said it was "deep and fun"😂😂😂
Exactly what I was thinking watching this lol
When I first saw Heath Ledger in a movie, I fell in love …. He was an amazing actor and one of a kind!!!! RIP ❤
His performances in Monsters Ball and Dr Parnassus.
Great as well.
A wonderful actor . The light was always on but the darkness was hidden. I remember exactly where I was the moment I heard he’d gone. So sad that people keep this stuff buried so deep inside themselves.
Stop listening to the media. Heath wasn't in a dark place it's just them trying to get views off of his death
Loved him in "A Dark Knights Tale"
Sometimes the people with the brightest smiles hold the most darkness. It takes a lot to keep everyone around you as happy as he seemed to.
"Yeah this dead guy was so alive"
Bizarre
Heath Ledger is absolutely one of my all time fav's.....And when he left us, 😢 OMG it still hurts. A Knights Tale is my go to, & can watch thousands of more times.
the end was sad
For Matt Damon to say that about Heath knowing all the people he worked with including the late and beyond great Robin Williams! Mind blowing!!!
Happiest person is usually the saddest
Robin Williams happy but so sad
🙄
Not accurate.
I miss him so much such a genuine down to earth guy
Forever an Australian icon
The Dark Knight - The movie peaked in every possible aspect!!!
I'm still not over his passing 😭
give head & cope
Everyone in the comments:
He was so ALIVE 💀
Bad taste
Kid
@@thelukos exactly what im saying
What was it like working with Heath?
Everyone: HE WAS ALIVE
Why are people so damn obsessed with seeing Ledger as a tormented soul? With some I get it, because it seems to be wanting a representative for the people who shine and warm others even while having so much inner turmoil, but others are just clearly obsessed with trying to rewrite the man's life for their own fucked up preferences, against all evidence, and to absolutely ZERO BENEFIT.
I appreciate this take, thank you. I'm thinking there's a romanticism about him getting so far down the rabbit hole of his acting as the joker. It's admirable, minus what we imagine it led to. Captain obvious here, obviously. What is your thought about it?
I dunno man I WAS quite torn, but after reading your take I TOTALLY GET IT!
You really did know heath much better than anyone! Thanks for the insight bro, much love xoxo
@@JoshneedsnatureHe was already into filming on another movie before he died…his role as an actor in The Dark Knight didn’t kill him 😂 These people are professionals
It is crazy how we can fall in love with an actor. He stole my heart in A knight’s Tale. ❤We will never know what happened to him like so many others.
I miss him ❤❤
Makes me think of my momma. She died at 50 and everyone that met her was influenced in some way. He was here to make his mark. Influence perspective. And be one of the greatest you ever saw. And light up life. And on to bigger things. Souls to advanced to stick around this lowly place for very long.
RIP Heath Ledger. One of the greatest actors but also great man with such a beautiful heart. Enjoyed and cared so much about what he did and all his acting choices... Put his all and the most of himself in everything and in the end with The Dark Knight, it ended him... Heartbreaking, such a loss... I will never forget when Jack Nicholson even said in an interview when he was asked on his thoughts about Ledgers death, "I told him to be careful when he was going to play as the Joker, I told him"... Something along that line.... That always stayed with me....
I fuuuuucking can’t stand you people that spread this bullshit. You bleeding heart edgy idiots who think you know an art form. He was just fine after The Dark Knight and was already in filming on another movie. His role as Joker didn’t “drive him insane” 😂
Yes, Jake. I bet working with Heath on broke back mountain was super “deep and fun”
They did Method acting for the whole movie
Hilarious
One of scariest villians ever as the joker
Taken from us way too soon
He's one of the few actors whose death affected me. He was such a great talent and so young. Life can be unfair.
Being alive and wishing to live are different things please try to be respectful for a man no longer here
In this context it clearly meant more than just the biological function of living. Nothing in this was disrespectful, just people being honest about an uplifting man they shared a time in their lives with.
@@yuin3320 sorry I was actually talking about the tasteless comments on this post
Heath Ledger made a movie near my home when he was young. He interacted with neighbors and was very full of life. One morning he eater skied behind a boat all the way from the north to the south end of the Puget Sound, hopped off, and happily went on set to work. He was the most alive person you could ever imagine. He qas incredibly fun and kind.
I learned about another young man who committed suicide recently. Kellie Pickler’s husband, Kyle Jacobs. Also an artist and has a similar story to Twitch’s and his wife’s. Matilda. Heath and Michelle’s daughter’s name is Matilda. I’ve been thinking about that name/movie quite a lot lately. MATILDA was the first movie my oldest daughter watched when she was little I believe and we watched it quite a lot, which is unusual. I liked it quite a lot, too. Was released July 28, 1996 so Emily would’ve been 2 and a few months old but we didn’t ever see it in a theater.
" So alive " , " Full of life " ... Miss u legend ❤😢
Lol Jake Gyllenhaal said they had a really deep experience lol...
In other interviews he said they truly loved each other. There were very close friends after that movie. Why do you have to make a junior high school gay joke?
@@tdawgisindahousebecause it’s funny
What a soul. So sad when I heard of his death. Beautiful man😢😊
I’d give up three Hathaways, two Gyllenhaals, fifty Jennifer Lawrences, and a Hemsworth for a Heath Ledger. In a world of countless Biebers, I’d trade it all for one Lennon.
He loved life so much that he took a bunch of drugs that killed him.
What a terrible thing to write
get a job fk head. Heath worked 16 hour days on an intense character. He was unwell and took a sleep med that messed with him. You're a POS
People can in fact accidentally double dose.
May the archangels have no mercy for you 🙏
People don't like facts they consider insensitive. And in this time of cancel culture everyone is sensitive. Hence why comedians are finished.
I love him in A Knight's Tale. Such an iconic movie!
Having listened to many of their pre-screening platitudes, I find it hard to believe anything an actor says in an interview
The last clip is so pure
Such a shame
I sit and wonder what else he would’ve brought to screen if he hadn’t had died
Well missed but truly never forgotten xxx rest in peace ..
I always think.. If only we had this kind of compassion for the living because the dead don’t need us anymore..
Heath was...an ALIVE ACTOR. RIP,HEATH❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
God bless him, we were lucky to have him as an actor while he lived, he waved whatever characters whether good bad or sad and he waved that into memorable golf for us in some of the best characters like monsters ball I felt actual sadness for that characters that killed himself because I liked the characters that he was in that movie
Ledger was the best Joker ...he made Dark Knight , just took over that movie in that character...such a loss , he was a great actor
He didn't want to wait, for his life to be over.

Hey, Jake, I bet it was the deepest and most fun for both of you. It really depends on who was pitching and who was catching. It's all about depth perception.
People say his Joker role played a part in his sorrow, but I think it was Brokeback Mountain that really gave him nightmares, it was scary AF 😢
Loved him so much. He was beautiful. 😢
The fact that he’s left such a HUGE legacy after his death is so inspiring.
I see people like this and then I see me. And I wonder why I'm still here and he isn't. My aunt met him at universal studios and he went on the movie set ride with her and her best friend.
