@@JaysonT1 Best method actors. Oldman or someone else i dont really remember, said something about putting on an act and really acting it. What makes a good actor and a great one far apart. One that becomes the character and the other merely acts like one. Oldman did an interview where he said he did have times where his roles we're starting to take over his life or his actual character and behavior. Something that can actually make a person go insane. Some actors likely do go too far. Like heath ledger with the joker. Locking himself in a room preparing for the role was too much.
Man, I was obsessed with this actor back in the day. I'm happy he's taking it slow now because of prioritizing his health. But I'm sure there will come a movie where he leaves us all speechless again. ❤
Christian Bale also has been said to write down pages and pages of internal dialogue for him to think about while he is acting, a note that I take from as a theater kid. It genius really, what better way to make genuine-looking reactions than to figure out just what your character is thinking in the moment. My acting coach told me about this, it’s been super helpful.

Christian bale never disappoints with his roles and this explains a ton! I remember seeing an interview with him and finding out he had an accent I was mind blown
I love Christian Bale very, very much. He is truly God's gift to women. To me, no other male actor can defeat his ultra amazing talent, acting skills and good looks. I find him especially spectacular in Equilibrium and Public Enemies. What a dashingly handsome, talented man. Wishing him the very best of life.
I remember reading a story where friends of Anthony Hopkins expressed “concerns” of his dedication to the character Hannibal Lector when Hannibal came out in 2001. They were supposedly worried about his mental health saying he had essentially become a psychopathic personality. I found the story funny as hell at the time because I always loved that character. When an actor “becomes” a character, it’s just an actor being a good actor, nothing more. Like Hopkins, Bale does the same thing in his films and it’s made him a great actor.
I’ve been a Christian Bale junkie since American Psycho 👏🏻 his dedication is stuff of legends. One of my favorites of all time is Prestige, but I’ve been a bat man fan since my creation so the trilogy is in the trophy case for me 👏🏻🙌🏻 Glad I found your channel, New subscriber & got a new list in my watch later list 👍🏻
He's been one of my favorites since I saw Empire of the Sun, which is still one of my favorite films, sometimes it dosen't matter the movie, if He is in, I watch it, he's always dedicated, he did the best he could in Thor even if it isn't his best role (ny Mom said it reminded her of Palpatine), Bale said he didn't like the experience and dosen't want to do another superhero movie, fine, those Marvel movies aren't worth his talent.
@@32BitJunkie brother he can choose not to like green screens. After being so dedicated towards his roles for yeaes saying "eh I dont like green screens" is his choice.
From losing a concerning amount of weight to gaining it back and working out, all that in 6 months between The Machinist and Batman Begins is impressive! His dedication is quite dangerous but I can respect it.
Bale got Bruce Wayne so absolutely RIGHT, I can't see anyone else playing him. I grew up watching Adam West, then Michael Keaton... but Christian Bale 100% embodied who Bruce Wayne/Batman is.
There are some people who have to work to get good at something because they need it, or some who care a lot because they like it. Then there are people who are born for something because they are meant for it, they're destined to give to other people through their talents! This guy was designed to be an actor!
When I saw Vice I didn't really knew who was playing in it. I was just looking at Netflix and it said the movie just came out. Was bored so decided to watch it. I saw Christian Bale doing the younger part so I thought that was it when we switched to the older guy. Thought maybe a smaller role for this movie, nope it was him. Took me a moment to realize it and even had to imdb it. Then found out it was all him, no CGI. It looked amazing. I have nothing with the guy he played, but he put a stelar performance there.
He was absolutely the best cast in my favourite film The Dark Knight Trilogy, had it been any other actor it had have not been as meaningful for me. He’s a good actor. Heath Ledger is another truly amazing actor it’s a shame he is gone for me he’ll be remembered for his masterpiece in the Dark Knight.
The behind-the-scenes clips from American Psycho are great. One of the actresses is smoking a cigarette and when some of the smoke hits his face he looks at her in total disgust and moves away from her.
He's my favorite actor by far, and certainly the greatest actor of his generation. The absurd range he has, and the commitment are astounding. The genial huckster of American Hustle and the jumpy older brother of The Fighter is so far away from the soldier of Rescue Dawn and the mentally ill protagonist of The Mechanic as to be almost comical.
Christian Bale is able to switch characters on set like changing a pair of socks. My favourite ones played by him are all the 3 Batman Movies and American Psycho at the moment, mostly because I’ve only watched those movies starring him specifically. Planning to see the movies featured in this video, he’s such a great actor. :)
At 8:53 that's not Klaus Kinski. That is german comedian and imitator Max Giermann, who often imitates Kinski in his acts. The particular clip is from the ZDF Sketch History series, I don't remember the episode's number but it is about Kinski and Herzog. Anyway, great video^^
Bale fascinates me and I am in awe of his performances, having seen pretty much all of his films. I do really worry for his health and wellbeing, especially as he ages and the wild fluctuations could have some serious consequences down the track. I’d rather be transfixed by his performances when he’s healthy than when he’s not looking after himself, and his skills don’t really need him to become unwell to fulfil a role.
It was years before I realized he was Welsh because I hadn't heard him speaking in his normal voice. One of my favorite all time actors. He is the best Bruce Wayne of any of the Batman films/shows.
15:34 "think there's a more dedicated actor? " I mean, I'd say I'm a really dedicated actor, I drive and I look lonely, and I did it for the movies mind you.

The Christopher Nolan Batman films were great entertainment, but rather than being superhero films, they should be taken as a critique of late stage capitalism, where a billionaire would rather spend billions on special equipment to allow them to go around city every night beating up poor people (Who still have no options, but now have life changing injuries or a grieving family) than spend it on actually solving the social problems creating the crime in the first place.
Jesus jared! Ur doing TOO MUCH!!
well thought out
Can't agree more with the Oscar statement.. The guy should have won atleast 5 Oscars, Bro's an acting school himself
This man's work ethic and dedication is second to none.
This man has never given even ONE bad performance in his career.
Bale is a different breed…
Definitely the best video about Bale's career I've seen! Unlike most videos, this one goes into real detail, good job!
Christian Bale and Gary Oldman are the best actors of this era
Hardly
@@JaysonT1 Best method actors. Oldman or someone else i dont really remember, said something about putting on an act and really acting it. What makes a good actor and a great one far apart. One that becomes the character and the other merely acts like one. Oldman did an interview where he said he did have times where his roles we're starting to take over his life or his actual character and behavior. Something that can actually make a person go insane. Some actors likely do go too far. Like heath ledger with the joker. Locking himself in a room preparing for the role was too much.
Daniel Day-Lewis is another who takes acting to the next level.
Dont forget RDJ
And Damien Lewis! @@Durwood71
You got to respect someone who gives 200% on whatever he does. Good lad.
Man, I was obsessed with this actor back in the day. I'm happy he's taking it slow now because of prioritizing his health. But I'm sure there will come a movie where he leaves us all speechless again. ❤
Never was a fan of actors only their roles but this Man ... well I'm just speechless.
Christian Bale’s performance as Ken Mile in Ford V Ferrari was downright insurmountable, Amazing acting + Amazing story = the single greatest movie I have ever seen
Nice review. Let’s see Paul Allen’s review.
😂😄
This is hilarious and deserves to be higher
I feel like a lot of people don’t get it. How sad.
@@karidennis6154what happened?
@@PringleManAmaitai paul allen was jared lehto’s character in american psycho, when they were comparing business cards christian bale’s character says ‘nice. Let’s see paul allen’s card’. Just a funny comment that most people won’t get unless they are really big fans of american psycho.
A drum teacher I had while going to Musician's Institute gave private lessons to Christian for The Big Short's drum scene.
So cool omg!
Bloody good actor, nice bloke too, met him in Ao Nang krabi Thailand, he shook my hand, said hi and gave me his autograph. He was filming "Rescue Dawn" at the time he was there.
His "Equilibrium" movies performance is so underrated as well.He outperformed everyone in that movie ,he was the movie.
Bale is a force of nature. When he gets mad oh boy does he really really get mad. Excellent actor but that dude's temper is legendary.
The Big Short was an amazing film! But I've enjoyed all of the other Bale films I've seen. What dedication. Thanks!
Millions of regular folk break their bodies working labor intensive jobs. I always admire actors who give it their all. Who would sacrifice their health for the job. It’s relatable to loads of regular people. Shows great courage and dedication. Nothing but respect for Christian Bale.
1:00 to 3:35 had me open and open my eyes more and more and change my expression until eventually my face was just pure shock
American Psycho Bale was too epic for all of those things to have happened yet apparently they did ... truly underrated
im no sigma or hardcore Bale fan or anything but i still loved the movie it has a certain uniqueness to it that you don't usually see in the badassery verse Hollywood created and perpetuated for so long regarding its stars
Christian Bale is definitely one of the best actors we've got in the 21st century.
He is a methodic actor , He loves his craft and sticks to origins of Acting. He and other methodic actors are the reason why people go to cinemas in the first place.
Great vid man!! He was soo good in psychoo
He is PERFECT.❤
How is he god’s gift to ‘women’ specifically?
@@EyupSkydiverbecause he “is handsome”
@@bradchevy1316I'm a dude and I think he's hot.
Don't lie, women like him from American psycho.
The Machinist is perfect.
He’s definitely one of my favorites, I appreciate his dedication to the craft. He really gives it all on film.
I’ve been a Christian Bale junkie since American Psycho 👏🏻 his dedication is stuff of legends. One of my favorites of all time is Prestige, but I’ve been a bat man fan since my creation so the trilogy is in the trophy case for me 👏🏻🙌🏻
Glad I found your channel, New subscriber & got a new list in my watch later list 👍🏻
Bale, Heath, and Nolan. They were in that movie together. Together.
Wow.
A true artist
No one talks about harsh times. Underrated gem of a movie.
This
One of my favorite actors. I really like most of his movies, they're all great, except Thor movie lol
Same! You can always count on a great performance by him
I completely forgot he was even in that movie. Saw it in theaters and never realized that was him 😂
He's been one of my favorites since I saw Empire of the Sun, which is still one of my favorite films, sometimes it dosen't matter the movie, if He is in, I watch it, he's always dedicated, he did the best he could in Thor even if it isn't his best role (ny Mom said it reminded her of Palpatine), Bale said he didn't like the experience and dosen't want to do another superhero movie, fine, those Marvel movies aren't worth his talent.
What didn't he like about making superhero movies? Too much greenscreen? Wild that in all the places he could have drawn a line, he chose here
@@32BitJunkie brother he can choose not to like green screens. After being so dedicated towards his roles for yeaes saying "eh I dont like green screens" is his choice.
i feel like this guy would be a legendary spy in another life
Christian Bale is an amazing actor. His dedication to his craft is the quintessence of acting.
I don't subscribe much to actors, but every movie Christian Bale stars in is a fucking banger.
One of the best actors ever
From losing a concerning amount of weight to gaining it back and working out, all that in 6 months between The Machinist and Batman Begins is impressive! His dedication is quite dangerous but I can respect it.
I swear, he's learned how to fine-tune every part of his character. He's got every control.
When you have passion about something, it will always shine through.
this man isnt just and actor, hes a shapeshifter
What are your favorite Christian Bale performances?
that's hard he kills it in pretty much everything he's in but for me its between American psycho and the fighter
Unoriginal but I have to go with Patrick Bateman. Your videos are really good and severely underrated. Keep it up 👍
@@laraederer32still heath ledger as is the best character ever . Even better than American psycho
Laurie, in Little Women, and Batman/ Bruce Wayne
@@lizlandes500 shaft and American psycho Patrick Bateman.
The most underrated actor of all time
Christian Bale is my favorite Batman!
Only if you don't count Adam West 😛. If Christian Bale really wanted to prepare for his role, he'd have brought his own shark repellent...
Michael Keaton will always be my favorite.
There is no other batman
Bale got Bruce Wayne so absolutely RIGHT, I can't see anyone else playing him. I grew up watching Adam West, then Michael Keaton... but Christian Bale 100% embodied who Bruce Wayne/Batman is.
One of my favourite actors !!!!
Damm I had no idea he played Cheney. I always admired and respected his acting but now it’s at a whole new level. Amazing talent.
There are some people who have to work to get good at something because they need it, or some who care a lot because they like it. Then there are people who are born for something because they are meant for it, they're destined to give to other people through their talents! This guy was designed to be an actor!
good spoken !
I just watched him in ford v Ferrari.. stupendous
Best actor of all time. Period.
Gary Oldman so effortlessly became James Gordon in the Dark Knight films that he often gets overlooked, but he absolutely nailed his part, too.
@@Durwood71 very true!
“Man I dont drop character till I’ve done the DVD commentary “ absolutely killed me 😂
Now I wanna' see them all!
Well done!
I could see Bales main on set being, "I'll be fine."
The Prestigue is my favorite Bale acting performances. He was magical on that one
Bale’s performance as Ken miles was phenomenal I even cried at the end when he died… amazing film amazing acting 🎭
first saw him in Equilibrium! loved it and it defined what i feel about Bale.
Now that just went up 10-fold!
respect😎
Man i never even knew he was british it was such a surprise to hear him speak normally outside movies!!
bro couldn’t help but include jarred leto in the video
The behind-the-scenes clips from American Psycho are great. One of the actresses is smoking a cigarette and when some of the smoke hits his face he looks at her in total disgust and moves away from her.
6:10 the guy behind is literally his previous role
You forgot about "Hostiles". Man that was a masterpiece!
He might be the greatest actor on your list, but how many other performers have you seen? He is far from being the
crowd favorite.
@@JackMason-oq8lfdo you not know what “my favorite” means?
@@EternalNico1 I like Psycho the most. No gimmicks.
Oh my! Empire of the Sun was Christian Bale??? One of my favorite childhood movies! ❤
I always mix up Empire of the Sun with The Power of One. Both good movies, but The Power of One is one of my favorite movies of all time.
Anyway, great video^^
this is why christian bale is one of my favorite actors, hes amazing
Please do a documentary about Leonardo DiCaprio
Ryan Gosling?
Kanye?
Can't believe youd skip equilibrium, absolute masterpiece, his awakening was perfect.
FilmStack making a video on the most dedicated actor as the most dedicated film UA-camr:
And "Rescue Dawn", borderline cinematic experience! Fantastic ❤
My fave role of his is The Prestige
Such an incredible movie. I see something new every time I rewatch it.
David Bowie plays Tesla
Bale fascinates me and I am in awe of his performances, having seen pretty much all of his films. I do really worry for his health and wellbeing, especially as he ages and the wild fluctuations could have some serious consequences down the track. I’d rather be transfixed by his performances when he’s healthy than when he’s not looking after himself, and his skills don’t really need him to become unwell to fulfil a role.
Whatever his “process” is it works.... incredible actor 👍🧐💪
It was years before I realized he was Welsh because I hadn't heard him speaking in his normal voice. One of my favorite all time actors. He is the best Bruce Wayne of any of the Batman films/shows.
Damn bro is literally slowly shapeshifting 💀
15:34 "think there's a more dedicated actor? "
I mean, I'd say I'm a really dedicated actor, I drive and I look lonely, and I did it for the movies mind you.
A LEGENDARY ARTIST ❤
His performance as the villain Gorr in Thor love and thunder was great!
how can you possibly leave out The Prestige?!
Tbh that movie he kinda just plays a lowed down batman
