- Joe runs the UA-cam channel Nekkid Watchmaker, where he restores vintage and antique watches. He shows us how he restores a Cartier Tank watch from the 1980s. He deconstructs the entire watch, fixes the movement, cleans dirt out of it, puts all of the parts into a cleaning solution, polishes the pieces, gold-plates the case, and reassembles it.

Mum look! I’m on the telly 🤗
Very cool
Only one reply? Let me fix that
Joe is a celeb!
😂😂😂😂😂😂 No freaking waaay 🎉🎉🎉
You deserve it, Joe ! 😊 God bless you !
"Sometimes you just have to know when to stop." ~Joe
He just gave us a life lesson unintentionally.
For real
That really got me
That’s what he does. Watch his vids
Why don’t cancer cells listen
Good thing I learned that lesson at a young age. It's helped me many times.
That watch looks like it was recovered from a shipwreck. Nekkid Watchmaker did an incredible job, and even the "flaws" just give the watch character. It's nice to see an expert at his craft.
Not a shipwreck but Grave robbed
Exactamente
It’s beautiful to see old being bought back as new and lovingly restored, love these sort of videos
Old luxury items*

@@snakedoktor6020 you don’t know peoples reasons for spelling issues, you aren’t there tutor or there hospital recovery support. Clearly your bored, go and volunteer

And you're right, I don't know. And I didn't say a single word about it either. Just made a notation, period.
Plus, I've taught well over 400 people to speak and write English as a second language, for free, so maybe that's where it comes from.
✌
The Nekkid Watchmaker is one of my favourite channels and Joe one of my favourite of people. The way he chats and has "Trouble" with him in his workshop, makes it extra special. Keep up the good work, Joe, and great to see your video and yourself featured here! 😊
"You have to put back each part where it belonges, or otherwise it won't work." Amazing insight. I'm happy they used someone with a technical background to narrate this video, otherwise that would have gone right over my head.
I was surprised to learn he used a screwdriver to remove the screws.
@@SaxonSuccess He used screwdriver to remove TINY screws. It wasn't told what he uses to remove big screws. Maybe hammer :)
That's incredible! Then you have me... I usually have a few extra screws left over. Guess I'm better where I make stuff magically appear
😬
Materialistic efficiency 🤷.
I too possess the same skill, should've gone for engineering.
It’s “custom”, one of a kind.
No one makes em like you do.
@@rob1016ny very true. That's why I love trying everything on my own, save money and pride when I look at it
I love my screws
Well done Nekkid, you got a great feature on Insider. Saw your restorations a few times and congrats.
I'm so happy to see his channel making it so big!! He's an amazing watch restorer and an even better guy!
Congratulations!!! Nekkid Watchmaker is one of my favorite channels. He engrains an uplifting message in each of his videos, and does a great job of creating a sense of community.
Why is no one talking about his dance when he placed the pieces in the ultrasonic cleaning machine?😅😅😅
That little dance at 2:29 was unexpected haha
Yes! My dude Nekkid watchmaker.
If you enjoy watching watches getting serviced, you’ll like his channel.
i love how the video has subtitles already. appreciate it💖
2:30 I like how he dances thinking no one would notice but we did :D
Haha I only noticed that now. Joe's a funny guy!
i saw this when he first posted, this guys an inspiration, he got me into watches. cant recommend his channel enough
Wow!
That was an amazing transformation!
In such a throw away world, it's so refreshing to see a master craftsman restoring a watch like this.
idc about brands but some of these mech/auto movements are mesmerizing to watch. tbh a good quartz movement is more convenient but the way it ticks is not as beautiful to watch as spring/auto movemnets that smooth second hand is unbeatable. Truly works of engineering art.
I would love if this man could repair my grandmother's vintage watches. His work is beautiful!
What he did is a standard procedure. You can take your grandmother's watch to a professional you trust and they will also do a similar work.
@@mustafagunes5740 Thanks!
Joe is so talented and his voice is so soothing it's a pleasure watching him work love his videos 👍🏻
Nekkid watchmaker is an awesome guy. Watched this restoration when it came out. Guys I recommend you subscribe if you’re into watches. He does amazing restoration videos
I watched this and had no idea Nekkid was doing it till he spoke, awesome!
I like how Insider is promoting less known channels that are creating some amazing content.
Wow. Incredible process!
This is my favorite restoration. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve watched it. Congrats Nekkid!
That dial is one of the most beautiful things I've seen
Wow!! To see that watch restored to original state is just amazing👏👏
Only a gifted, skilled, veteran artisan could perform this marvelous work! Bravo! Skills like watchmaking and restoration seem to be restricted to the older, more mature set of people. Make no mistake, these types of skills require years if not decades to develop. It is sad that most young people today would rather play around with a so-called smartphone than learn from a master like this gentleman.
Those watch repairmen r awesome i could never put it back 2gether too many small pieces i would go crazy
Unless you are myopic, near sightedness has some of its perks too.
Looks like you have weak eyes. Anyone can do this thing provided that they are trained to do so.
Nicely explained... beautiful work.
Joe/Nekkid Watchmaker really is the most skilled of the watchmakers with a UA-cam channel. In fact, no one else even comes close. So...good call, Insider!
Joe (aka Nekkid Watchmaker) is amazingly knowledgeable in his craft and also extremely entertaining to watch❤❤❤
Great job giving exposure to the Nekkid Watchmaker.
Lmao I though nekkid released a new vid. Didn't expect it to be an insider one.
I believe this is an older video that Insider is just narrating over.
Amazing work!
absolutely amazing, brings it back to life
Love his channel! Also love Wristwatch Revival! Both Joe and Marshall are skilled craftsmen.
Amazing craftsmanship!
Great to see Nekkid getting some well-deserved praise!
the restoration process is mesmerizing
2:32 Dancing to the tune of the machine. He's having a good time.
Haha I noticed my guy jamming out
It's magic. Brilliant work!
No way! Nekkid watchmaker is getting some recognition, yes sir!
That is a beautiful restoration of a legendary watch, and oh man that dial is nice!
Nice to see Joe here, big up to your family ;-)
I love these kinds of videos!
Really incredible - great video!
Joe does exceptional work!!!
You don't need to explain with words... all I need is just watching with different beautiful angle with the original sounds... 😎
Very good and professional work ...
Removing is one thing but remembering where everything goes back! That’s a whole other ballgame
Watching his channel is relaxing and entertaining.
heyyy it's the nekkid watchmaker, nice
WOW. The patience and knowledge he must have.
That spider dial is beautiful!!
MARVELOUS WORK!!!
I love his channel! Geez I get so much comfort watching his work
Wow!! That is real skill and artistic talent right there.
The odds I could put that watch back together and have it work are probably worse than winning the lottery
Amazing work.
Nekkid! It's nice that you've been featured here. I've been a subscriber for years. Happy for you that you're expanding your reach!
Wished that they have included "Trouble" and the "Accountant" too, though. It would really be funny.
Just beautiful brining back to life such a marvellous peace of art. It is sad this is a line of work that no more exist if i could i believe i would do good on this line of work.
" If he doesn't place each part in the correct order, the watch will not work."
Yeah, that's a very nice information
His channel is my favorite !
so satisfying to watch tbh
This video made me love this watch. I actually offered to buy it from him but he never answered me just thanked me for my comment. I really wanted this piece seeing him rebuild it was beautiful.
the dial is one of a kind. a dream dresswatch.
His channel is very interesting. Been watching him for a year or so now.
"Just some times you have to know when to stop" I quote.. ♥️
Yess Mr Nekkid and Where's Mini Nekkid 😜😜💪💪🔥🔥👌👌 kind regards Ben from NZ
Excelente trabajo incomparable gracias
Im glad he kept the dial with cracks in it
How much did this service cost? He did an unbelievable job.
Wow, this was amazing to watch
His Accountant must be very proud!
Nice video, thank you. An important aspect of not losing your Inner Pieces.
Joe has a Patreon account, in case you did not know!
Thank you MEN for imagining & realising such amazing timepieces.
He has my favorite channel on UA-cam and I don’t even have a watch
This is so beautiful and relaxing to watch
Keep it up and upload more please
Work of art👌
Amazing job. Where can I find the band? Thanks for sharing
That's great work!
THIS IS VERY SATISFYING!
Beautiful!
The guy's channel is nekkid watch maker, genuinely a very good restorer of all quartz and mechanical watches, I've enjoyed all his videos. He is one of the finest and most meticulous craftsman.
Wow!, I never thought it could be made to look new again.
Absolutely mesmerizing...
Joe earned insider one like-activated subscriber
Spectacular!
I have the cheapest Carier Vermeil Tank that was gifted me in the early 1990's. I contacted Cartier April 2024, about refinishing and getting my watch in running order again. They do not refinish the gold plating. I would love to know if there is a person in my area that could renew my watch to its original beauty.
Great work
i really wish he took commissions, would love for him to restore my vintage seiko
2:32 Is the dancing apart of cleaning process?
It always amazes me how intricate the inside of a watch is when it looks so simple on the surface
I've owned Breitling Navitimer watches for many years, I just like the style. On UA-cam there is a video on servicing them at the factory, and I was amazed at the complication. If you enjoyed this video, please try to watch it if you can. Sorry, not a pun !
Nekkid, wristwatch revival and red dead restoration for all your watch fixing needs!
Other than nekkid watchmaker..reddead restoration also a UA-cam channel restoring classic and military watch..they both really a professional..
Pawn Shop: Best I can do is $50
No pawnshop would pay $50 for that watch.
You should check out his channel. Amazing work and wonderful humor!
what is the purpose of the small ruby-like stones inside of the watch, not visible unless taken apart?
those small ruby like stones are called jewels and they help reduce friction and provide a hard, smooth surface to allow metal components such as the wheel train to rotate freely
Reminds me of a watch my grandfather had.
Love the model love the video. One day I'd love to do it myself
