Christian; T4YC. I feel I should own a Cartier or a JLC. I went to the JLC showroom in Bond Street, London, and the experience was very poor, and I wasn't blown away by the quality. I visited Cartier, a few doors down, and it was chalk and cheese. So I am planning on a Santos Large. The way you can change straps is brilliant.
@@omar10213245 chalk and cheese look a little bit similar, but are very different. It's another example of the fabulous language of Shakespeare, that is gradually falling into dispute, disrepair and disrespect.
That’s a very nice Duoface! Never seen the white gold version before. Yes, definitely more deals to be had on the JLC front than Cartier. You can get a mechanical steel Classique for less than a quartz steel Basculante.
When a brand transitions, from a decision based on, quality, perceived value and personal preference, to a perceived personal expression lifestyle choice, you will get the artificial run up in demand and cost.
Just got myself a Cartier Tank Must Large. Wanted a Solarbeat but thats not gonna happen as they’re hard to find and apparently may be impossible to repair. Can’t complain about my Tank
I love my reverso. Also jlc offers a leather strap, its not distressed but looks like vintage and not a dress watch strap. Makes my reverso great for everyday use. I have alligator strap to make it a dress watch
I have several watches, Rolex, Bell & Ross, Girard Perregaux but have my sights set on a Cartier tank and then I think my collection will be complete for me. Even considering getting a quartz version, mostly to give quartz a try. Since it lacks a second hand no one will know except for me.
One question begs to be answered, why even wear a watch while playing polo? Football, baseball, basketball and other sports participants don't wear a watch while playing.
Don’t trade. Keep that and then buy a 90s tank with “Swiss” dial for around 2-4k. The basculante is one hell of a watch and doesn’t give you the same emotions as a regular tank. Wait more time enjoy that basculante then buy a tank!😁
I’d love a Tank Cintree, sadly too rich for my blood. The Tortue Monopusher rereleased a couple decades ago is even more in my wheelhouse, another watch I can’t make happen. Tanks, like Reverso are quite fine, I just don’t see them fitting my style. Can’t pull them off convincingly, though I am more drawn to dress watches than ever. Grew bored with tool watches quite some time ago.
The coke needs to be no gilt that’s about the only complaint I can see. Other then the normal Tudor ones as in the fake rivet oyster and the complication of buying bracelets or straps for the watch. The rubber is what I’d buy it on but I’d love to have an oyster or jubilee to put on at my discretion and it’s like pulling hens teeth getting a factory one.
The Reverso is a much better looking timepiece than the Basculante in my opinion. However, I’m biased as I own a Reverso. Now the Cintrée is a beautiful Cartier Tank on another level.
It’s bizarre. I suspect there being stealthy marketing happening because almost every “influencer” has been mentioning Cartier watches ad nauseum. The watch looks like it was pulled from an 80s black and white cartoon. Not deserving of the hype.
Basculante is a beautiful watch! But way overrated! Go for the Chronoswiss Cabrio! Same size same style and the solid 18 carat gold version cost 4-5 K, Automatic ETA.
It‘s funny how nobody talks about the Cartier Pasha. In my opinion one of the most underrated watches in general. An original Gerald Genta Design with personality like an Nautilus or Royal Oak, 100m WR, Beautiful Dial variations, amazing history and a Price around 2k! I would like to hear T&H take on the Pasha!
I think a lot of customer like classic models and also the size of the tank who is more reasonable, big size is a mode who will disapear,34mm is a nice size, years ago all dress watch were 33mm or 34mm in all brand, now customer like big size,41mm or more because the rich customer like to be see and show they have luxury wtch, become to change due to the danger to worn a blimblim watch,so little size will come back soon, for more discretion i think
Cartier gets mistakenly dismissed. Fantastic watch maker with amazing heritage.
I love how Christian tells horlogical stories, probably one of the best out there. With that said, I still miss Theo though
So true, I’ve finally come to terms that this is a watch channel and not just two funny guys talking😂
Where did Theo go? Why hasn’t he been on in forever.

Yet here we are, consuming content, being influenced too.
@@silvoslaf For me, this is in lieu of purchasing, I get to experience all of the watches without actually parting with my money.

LOVE the Reverso, Christian, and the story is awesome.
"Certain fair realities suck to know." I might have to steal that one.
Great video. The content is always well researched and delivered in entertaining manner. Thx.
Ok but who are all these people who get so enthused by the Reverso flipping around. I'd like to meet them, they sound like a great time.
Christian, my guy, you influenced us on Cartier! (picking up a white gold Americaine tomorrow :)

Sapphire absolutely cracks. It shatters in fact. Still a good video.
Great video. Super interesting and loved your story about your Reverso.
One of your best episodes yet!
True, a sapphire crystal won't crack like an acrylic crystal will, but it will SHATTER!!

I got a quartz Basculante when they were still "cheap". But I've always wanted a mechanical gold Cartier. Any Idea, what I should trade for?

Great video - great history and well said. Cartier is amazing value for money - even in the current market
This is the longest masterworks ad ever ❤❤
The tank Française in steel was released in 1995 I think, before 1999 for sure. Maybe the tank Americaine was late 90s as well.
I would buy that reverso!
The Tank truly is the do anything watch. Dress it up. Dress it down. It just works.

Do you think that Cartier will make a stainless steel mechanical Tank that in the small or large size?
