      When I told my mother I was trans, she told me that she wished I would change my mind. That kinda hurt, it's not like being trans is like deciding on what shoes to wear. You don't get to choose whether you are or aren't trans. I wish more people understood that it's not any kind of choice, either you are born this way or you aren't.

      @Kali Evelynn Thank you, I hope she eventually understands eventually. She's 73 and of a different generation, I still wish she would understand now. But thank you so much.

      PLEASE ADDRESS THIS VERY IMPORTANT TOPIC ! - is it true that hormone treatment modifies your intestinal flora, and the way your poo smells like ? and if so, make a video about it describing how it changed. describe the smell to us in a video, is it a... light and fruity smell ? or a more robust and nut-like smell ? also, if possible describe the color and texture to us (you can check the texture by poking at it with a pencil, it's what i do)
      YOU MAY THINK THIS IS A JOKE, but i assure you it's not. how can you totally ignore such an important part of medical science ? hospitals can say a lot about a patient's healthy from his stool samples !

    When I was really early in coming out I went to a trans forum online and literary asked them "What gender are you when you dream?" and was kicked for asking an unapropriate question. I now get why it is uncomfortable, but yeah, people need to learn that it is unapropriate to know that it is unapropriate I guess. I have never understood why people would ask strangers about their genitalia, like, you don't ask cis guys for their sizes or cis women how much hair they have under there, just seemd rude/trying to trigger emotions ngl. Also, good video as always, Mathilda. When will your next livestream be?

    In regards to the question at 8:24 "What's one of the most surprising reactions you've got when you've told people you're trans"
    When coming out to my dad, and my friends, I expected negative reactions, but I was accepted instead, which made me deeply happy.
    And in regards to the question at 9:50 "What's your gender when you dream?"
    It's difficult to explain, but I've always been androgynous in my dreams, anatomically as well.

      I was accepted when I came out to my dad. For a while, I thought he'd act like I was taking his "son" away from him. I had contemplated telling him I was trans for quite a while, though. Even had the perfect episode of Star Trek: The Next Generation to discuss it over. It was the one with the J'naii, a race of genderless aliens. One of the J'naii identifies as female and takes a liking to Riker.

      I remember that episode of Star Trek: The Next Generation.
      It's a great episode, though there's one thing that I would change.

    this might be a triggering comment idk? Someone in the comments tell me if it is but:
    As a cis woman, I have to be honest... I am very thankful to have a period. It's like a reconnection to nature for me and a reminder that I am powerful. Yeah, the bleeding sucks, but I honestly am very happy to have a period. It doesn't come without struggles but it definitely reminds me that I am a strong woman. Hope you are well. I'm not surprised at some of the questions people have asked.
    It is possible to suffer from phantom period. The hormones can give some transgender people symptoms of abdominal pain, emotional outbursts and some other minor things that occur roughly every 3 to 4 weeks, only you don't "bleed" due to the lack of plumbing, so to speak.
    I was also told that some people do change their sexual orientation due to the changes in the brain chemistry caused by the hormone treatment.

  • @danis7541
    @danis7541 3 роки тому

    Well finally found a video talking about sexuality from you haha! I'd say one of the 2 biggest thing that held me back from realizing my gender diasphoria, as sb. who was born a male is, a) I'm kinda comfortable with certain gender roles defined by society & expectations. For example I am ambitious, I am currently in quantitative finance fields, I am sb. who's highly opinionated and is willing to stand & argue for my standings. Which traditionally are 'masculine' traits but I've totally seen women like that. b) I don't know whether it's a part of it, which is what's relevant here, is that rn as I'm still closeted and not on any HRT or any transitioning, I found myself almost 100% attracted to women, only. And obviously that could still be the case after I transition if I do that eventually, as trans ppl are unlike cis ppl, and we're highly diverse in sexuality. The plurality is usually bisexual/pansexual/etc., followed by a similar % of pure homo and hetro sexual attractions. Also I personally feel very comfortable and connecting when I see anything depicting lesbians. I have a different and a lot weaker interest in gay materials. But of course I've seen examples of trans women changing sexuality preferences. Specifically those who were into women before but into men afterwards. I really wonder how it'd look like for me, although I wish now that I'm at least still somewhat attracted to women. I do think that I would still emotionally be more 'attracted' to women though. And maybe even physically. As maybe I'm a little 'demi' (?) in this case in that I won't feel physical attraction to someone who I don't feel emotionally and spiritually attached to at least to some degree.

    It only makes sense that someone who waited their whole life to be who they are would make a loving partner. It takes determination and a strong constitution to transition fully. Some of the sexiest women iv ever met or have seen have been trans.

    TL;DR
    Some people know the gender they're attracted to pre hormones more concretely than their orientation while others know the orientation they are more than the gender they're attracted to pre hormones and will proceed in however way fits them best after they come out and start hormones.
    I don't think hormones change your sexual orientation instead it just helps bring out your true orientation after you go on it depending on whether you're gay/straight/ or conformist/individualistic and helps you be more comfortable in your skin.
    Like for me I knew I like the same gender so when I was seen as a woman I thought I was a lesbian pre-T then after I started going on hormones I started feeling more bi or pan but liked guys more than girls.
    I'm speculating but I think before you went on oestrogen you might have known you were straight but you were perceived as a man so you thought you needed to like women but since you started hormones and came out as a transwoman you realised you are still straight but you actually like men.
    There are also some straight transguys and gay transwomen who've always liked women and thought they were a lesbian or straight pre hormones while some gay transguys and straight tranwomen who've always liked men and thought they were straight or a gay man before they went on hormones.
    Bottomline is after coming out people free themselves up to explore other aspects of their identity without the constraints of forcing themselves to hide a part of themselves or just not knowing that part of themselves and coming to terms with it and accepting and embracing it.

    The dreams ... this is one that I wonder if it's related to gender dysphoria. How many people have dreams where they are ALWAYS themselves? Versus what percentage of people have dreams where they are someone else? And is that someone else always the same gender as they are, or does it differ? And then what percentage of people have dreams where they are just observers, like watching a movie?
    Personally, I have always had a very tenuous connection to myself in my dreams. I am very often other people in my dreams. And sometimes I am just an observer, watching a movie of other people doing things in my dreams. Sometimes, rarely, I am myself. It does not happen often, and is almost never a good dream if I am me. So I wonder how "normal" this is? Do "healthy" people only dream about being themselves? Or does everyone have a certain amount of identity disconnection in their subconscious? I'm curious how much of my disconnect is normal and how much is just me being broken. LOL Not that knowing would help either way. I just find these kinds of things fascinating. Our brains are so weird.

    • @Sam-zu5mr
      @Sam-zu5mr 3 роки тому

      It's not abnormal to dream your not you in your dreams. Iv been my present self, if been my childhood self with childhood memories and friends (which iv found weird)- I once had a dream I was Matt Smith's Doctor from tv series Doctor Who. iv also had dreams that have no relevance to my day life or memories and I'm just part of the dream, kinda like when you watch tv (a disconnect). But if also had dreams that are extremely extremely realistic and do resemble my waking life, to the point they feel real. The subconscious asleep brain can conjure up such imaginatives that the real world cannot. It's a minefield of illusions. Each dream different from the last. But that's just normal as it's just the brain configuring itself and processing stuff, while the body rests. Dont let it freak you out as everybody's dreams are unique to themselves and differ greatly. In other words what your dreaming about is very much NORMAL function for you.👍🙂
