As a trans girl, I hate when people call me by my "dead" name. The only one I allow to do it is my mom, and that's only because she is my mom. No one else gets that right, not even my brother or sister. I am now Holly and I think calling me by my "dead" name is like calling other people by someone else's name. Give me the respect to call me by my name.

The part about "being attractive for a trans person" is similar to how I feel when people outside of my race say ... "You speak so well." Sorta implies that all African Americans sound the same.

Two weeks after I came out to my mom about me being transgender, she told me that she wished I would change my mind. I just told her being trans isn't something you can just choose to be, it's not like picking a pair of shoes to wear. It's something that you are or you aren't. There is no choice. She still wants me to go back to how I was last year. I don't want to go back to being miserable and depressed.

Why can't people treat each others with respect and dignity? We are all humans that want to be loved and love. But often people just project their own self hatred or insecurities to others instead of self reflecting and find out what their real problems are and and try to fix them. Maybe on day Humanity will wakeup and see the true potential that we all have and finally evolve.

There is really only one thing that I honest to God wish people would tell me is ok to ask a Trans Person and that is, "Can I get your phone number because I would really like to build a life with a woman and think you are amazing?" That is no joke. For some reason, my recent interest in wanting to give a transgender woman an honest opportunity for a committed relationship has backfired. I am finding the same exact mind games as CIS women.

That part about friends and family not respecting new name and pronouns hit hard for me as that’s been one of the most difficult things I’ve been dealing with since coming out. They just don’t seem to understand how painful and uncomfortable it is for me to hear them call me the person I no longer associate myself as being who I am. I mean I’m still the same person in a way I’m just not presenting as male anymore and it’s so frustrating and depressing when they do it. My family is even worse though especially my twin sister and my dad. They both dead name and misgender me blatantly no matter how much I beg them to stop. I try to reason with them and educate them but they won’t listen. It’s not like I’m not trying hard enough to present as female or anything they just are being very rude and disrespectful of my transition. I mean I already deal with hating my outward appearance and every part of my body on the daily I definitely don’t need their crap added on to it.

Hey guuuurl 👋 I've actually said that before myself about "I would've never guessed you are trans and you are so beautiful." To me, I meant because you look true to the gender you identify as and you are a beautiful woman, had nothing to deal with what I expect trans ppl to look like or anything like that. More that you look how you identify, a beautiful women. But now I understand that can be taken that way and won't say it again. Just thought I'd share what I meant by that as I definitely did not mean "most cis or trans look a specific way." Hopefully I don't get hate for this comment. I am glad you educate ppl even though that's not your responsibility, I think it is great we can have open discussions no matter who we are since we all have different experiences and identify differently 😁
