Nick, you say, "as long as they can set in stone that Xbox will not stop making hardware, I'm fine with them putting their games wherever they want." But, like you said, they can't promise that. It doesn't matter if Microsoft says a million times, "don't worry guys, we're not gonna exit the console market." How could you trust what Microsoft says when it seems they're doing everything in their power to make Xbox consoles as irrelevant as possible and treating Xbox players like second-class citizens, especially if the Xbox games that go multiplat run better on a hypothetical PS5 Pro than on an Xbox console?
I'm not worried that Microsoft themselves are considering exiting the console market, I'm worried that their foolish decisions will inevitably lead to them exiting the console market due to ppl having little to no reason to buy an Xbox over a PlayStation/Switch. You can't tell me that if Xbox console sales plummet as a result of these decisions and the next Xbox sells like, say, Dreamcast numbers, that Microsoft is without a doubt gonna commit to making hardware for the foreseeable future? Not to mention the fact that third-party support would without a shadow of a doubt decline due to reduced hardware install base.
If Microsoft is truly gonna pivot and make, say, most current and future Bethesda/Zenimax games multiplatform despite explicitly stating that the Bethesda acquisition was for "great exclusive games where Game Pass exist" only two years ago (in addition to porting Starfield to PS5/Switch despite Aaron saying it's not a timed exclusive), then how could you trust a word MS says in regards to Xbox ever again? They could pivot and decide to shut down the hardware division in two years for all I know if they're really willing to make such drastic pivots.

Journalism is essentially the gathering and reporting of information deemed news worthy to a public. Anybody can do journalism, most of us will do this in our lives, in one way or another.
