Brian is such a great guy! Met him at the Eindhoven show last year, talked a bit behind the venue before he had to go inside for the soundcheck. He actually took the time for a conversation!
I met him, Jay and Brooks after a show in 2008 or so...really humble and funny. My brother and I were just standing out in the parking lot 100 feet from the tour bus sort of hoping to catch a glimpse of them walking out and they came up to us.
He has some awesome riffs. I always thought that’s what stood out about Bad Religion was the fact they have awesome hooks and riffs. Not just down stroking and palm muting. Also, I met Brian Baker after a Beach Rats show. Literally one of the nicest dude I have ever met. Very humble.
@4:33 ...just....I have no words for how AMAZING Minor Threat was..best punk band of all time IMO. Watching Brian play that now is surreal...totally rad to see that...TY Brian for all youve given to music and the punk scene dude.
I remember when I was 12 years old back in '95, my friends bro came home from uni the one holiday and had a whole bunch of new MP3s. Back in those days, MP3 was a new concept and was like gold. If you could download just one and share it with your friends you were the man. (I live in South Africa) Anyway among the REM, Live and Green day in that list of MP3s, was an album from a band that was untitled. I remember clicking and listening to one of their songs called 'Infected'. There was just something about this band that felt 'different' from all the other pop alternative rock I had heard. They were on another level and I was drawn to their honest, raw and aggressive sound. A few years went by and I never knew who this band was until I was finishing up high school and a fellow punk (my best friend to this day) played me Recipe for Hate album he had on tape. I immediately recognized the lead vocalist. It was like an epiphany for me cause at the tender age of 12 I was so drawn to this genre but didn't even know what punk rock was.
12 yo me went to a stranger than fiction BR TOUR. Was my 2nd concert ever, 1st being No Use for a name, HI Standard, Ten Foot pole in Vancouver. INFECTED was and still is one of my favorites to this day. I'm 38 now, I'm to assume we're around same age
At one time, certain people didn’t think this punk rockers would amount to anything. I love seeing how they’ve succeeded and made a good living off their career. Always support a musician.
Thank you Brian for Dag Nasty! Can I Say has been inspiring me for 35 years now. Got it that summer of '86. It is timeless! as is Wig Out and Field Day.
Brian is a class act. Saw him in Dag Nasty at a place called The Outhouse in Lawrence KS. One of my all time favorite shows. Still got the shirt. He is still a pivotal musician in fabric of Punk Rock.
The first song I ever learned on guitar was Straight Edge by Minor Threat. That was 1983. It was all downhill from there. Many bands, hundreds and hundreds of shows played, and $tensofthousands spent on gear over the past 40 years. Thanks a lot Brian! Look what you guys made me become!! I’m even wearing a Dischord sweatshirt as I type this.
It looks like it’s one of the first ones, back when they where still called a Les Paul. I’m going off the truss rod cover there and not a ton of expert knowledge.
Over the years I learn a lot of riffs playing Dag Nasty and Bad Religion Songz. They were my school. This guy still surprising me & inspiring me. Thx Brian Baker!
"think again" is such a great song killer riff for sure! That and "Look back and laugh" are definitely two of the best riffs ever in my opinion. Great vid thanks for sharing 👍
He's played on all their album-length studio releases, he was a permanent member of the band until he stepped back in 2016 after the new album came out.
Brian is the reason that I stopped learning AC/DC riffs and moved on to Minor Threat and Dag Nasty. I could watch a Million Days of this. Sorry that was really bad...
I spent an afternoon with him when The Meatmen played a club where I worked. He's a great player and a funny sumbitch. Also, I've poached a bunch of his riffs over the years--sometimes deliberately, but usually I realize it when someone says, "That sounds a bit like _____. Have you ever heard it?"
Still to this day, I absolutely love the guitar part to Think Again. Very cool to find out that was the first riff Brian had on a record. I love learning cool little facts like that.
Brian, thanks for your autograph at the Warped Tour in '02, and I'm sorry I just stared at you and held out my album cover instead of saying something. If my brain hadn't been cramping at the time, I would have told you I was glad you stayed in the band even after Gurewitz came back.

Supremely underrated guitarist in my opinion. Baker is a killer.
here we go with the underrated tag yet again
@@iggypopisgod9 here we go!
He's not a killer he's a baker
And all this time I thought punk rock guitar players only knew how to play 2-3 chords at most.
Baker is the MAN.
“Domination.. World domination.” Under his breath “not that fat mike stuff” 🤣 Hahahah that got me.

I could watch Baker talk music, riffs and tones all day. Always great motivating energy
this guy is my favourite punk guitarist
The intro solo to "I want to conquer the world" is one of the best in punk history, in my opinion. Amazing, energetic....great way to start a song!
Zach Blair from Rise Against is mine.
God I love bad religion
Him and Chris Hannah of Propagandhi
Gotta put mike ness in there
Minor threat, one if the best Hard core/punk of all times. Been listening to it since 1992
Just saw BR last week. Never gets old watching Mr. Baker play on stage.
I come back here time and time again. just to hear him play Think Again 👉 👈
same :)
That this dude has that Think Again riff under his belt is a huge achievement, what a classic

He played bass in MT.
Those riffs and 240bpm Barre chords were courtesy of Lyle Preslar.
