- "I wrote 'These Days' before I met Gregg. He heard me play the song when we were first friends, I guess we were probably both 18," Jackson Browne tells Blackbird about Gregg Allman in this concert clip. "The way he did that song completely changed it, I think for me and for everybody... I could write a song like that but when it came time to singing it, Gregg really gave it a kind of graveness and gravity that the song can hold." Relive the magic of Gregg and Jackson performing "These Days" together for the first time, right here.
This might be the greatest ending to a song I’ve ever heard.
After Gregg's funeral, Jackson wanted to play, somewhere. He went to a place called Grant's Lounge, where the Brother's and everyone else played back in the'70's. He may have for all I know, was too young to go back then. Folks had a real shock that night. The talent that came there, for Gregg's memory was amazing. Thank Jackson. That was appreciated by everyone who just happened to be there that night. Adding, being Gregg's friend was not an easy thing for a long time. Have had some friends like that myself. Jackson is on helluva good man, will leave that there.
Thanks for that comment, it was good to read.
excellent -wish I had been there too
Must have been an experience to have been there.
I agree with you. I love Jackson Browne!
Grant's is still there and so is music. Y'all come see us on Poplar Street, Macon, Georgia.
Jackson belted out that Intro into the first verse.....and it made Gregg smile....LOVE IT !!
I noticed Gregg smiled it was a moving moment
thank you

Wow. The respect CJB gave Gregg on stage was beautiful. Just beautiful.😂
He was trying to do it in Gregg's style, that's why!
It was beautiful❣️
Gregg sings it more bluesy. Brought me to tears. Love them both ❤️❤️❤️
My father introduced me to Jackson Brown’s music.. this song will always resonate deeply in my Soul. Thank you Father. Thanks you Jackson. And Thank you Greg. And Thank You God for these memories ❤️🔥
There will never be another Gregg Allman
This takes me back to another time and I realize more than ever what we had
Funny had all of Jackson Browns album's but the crowd hooted and hollered when Gregg sang. Just loved Gregg last of a dying generation. Best generation ever . LONG LIVE THE BABY BOOMERS
Our parents were the Greatest Generation!

@@skismith39 I'M NOT A PARENT, I AM OLD...LOL

We are only old in our heads, unfortunately not our bodies.........
First, these two legends together deserve millions of views and how there could even be 42 dislikes (trolls I'm sure), this music is irreplaceable and these legends are forever. Thank you Jackson and Gregg. I hope you're rocking & rolling in heaven Gregg!
❤✌❤✌
Sometimes people dislike just to cause a little rumble in the water. So you just ignore the rumbles and go on and enjoy yourself. Take the joy from it and discount the nonsense. Peace
@@gailremp8389 Thank you, I do. I just periodically like to bitch. 😊

Two of my all time favorites didn't know for a long time they were friend's!! Play on forever Jackson, Gregg forever in our hearts!!
Being a Peach Head for over 4 decades, I’m still in awe of the talent.
Makes me cry. Gregg's beautiful, melancholic, soulful voice affects me deeply.
Toni Francis....it hits me so close to home I make sure I have a few tissues every time I listen, which seems to be often these days.....
Toni Francis right back at ya, still numb 💕
Toni Francis exactly ❤️🔥🔥❤️
what it is..
Toni...agree wholeheartedly. No need to add to your comment, RIP Gregg
"..and now I believe I've come to see myself again..... Please, don't confront me with my failures cuz I"m aware of them."
I love Gregg Allman & Jackson Browne

Love that Allman smile @ the beginning…God bless you, Gregg…rest easy 🍄🍑
That was precious!
Browne wrote some of the finest folk rock songs in history. And was a great performer.
I love the mutual respect and appreciation they have for each other and each other's music! It is both visible and audible.

i grew up listening to the allman brothers band sad that gregg passed away he kept the band together after his brother tragiclly was killed rip gregg you will forever be missed
Gregg Allman feels this song deeply and he make me feel it to. Thank you Jackson Brown and Gregg you have always been about the music and nothing else. You will live forever in the hearts of those who hear your music.
I love how Jackson looks at Gregg while he's singing.
I love that too -- I just love watching performers enjoying each other during their performances. It's so cool, so sweet.
Two "old souls" in a mutual admiration. God bless them.
This is heartbreaking and so beautiful...
I lost my brother when I was 28 he was 26. I can relate to Gregg's pain. I can feel it like my own. It never goes away. All you ever knew of that person never goes away so in a way they're always with you. You just have to settle for memories and remembering the feelings when they were alive. You just have to keep going you can't go back.
I don't think I can listen to ANY music/songs for quite awhile; the two of them together just, well, it's indescribable....:)
Thank you for this. Beautiful.
This song, especially in this beautiful, soulful version by these two great musicians (and a great band) brings tears to my eyes!
Writing it,and being able to sing it the way you wanted it to be heard is two different things. It was Nice of Jackson Brown to Give the Recognition to Greg Allman. Respect is something Most Musicians have for each other, and Jackson Brown was awesome for admitting this !! Musicians Are a Special Breed,And I'm proud to be classed as a Musician too !!!! I Love Music !!
Love both of these talented artists
Makes me incredibly sad to know Gregg Allman is no longer here with us. His music will never be duplicated. Such a special time
And sweet sweet memories when he was sharing it. 💔 forever awesome
I just saw Jackson Browne live at Bethel Woods Saturday night. Just to see him do this 1 song was worth the price of admission. Luckily we got to see a list of other great songs as well. 2 encores & there could have been more.
Did he do "After The Deluge" there??
About THE most appropriate song for THAT venue!! 😉
So natural he sings a song, his voice brings your spirit out of you and says this the way to give soul to music. Thanks for this post.
Love these Guy,l have an 18 yr old Hot Little Grandson and ive got Him playing southern style like Greg and He sounds so frigan good,l proud as hell of Him♥️
what a stage full of talent--a true delight, such love and respect...s

What an excellent version. Miss you Gregg so, so , so very much!
I'm crying - so freaking beautiful.
What a terrific story and performance. JB humbly gave credit where due! We miss Greg's life's experiences shining through these days.
Most awesome tune/lyrics♥️🎼🙌🌿
Hello Michele
How are you doing?
It’s nice meeting you here!
Two of the greatest of all time. Drenched in soul. Touches us so deeply. We'll always love and miss Gregg. We'll always love Jackson.
Jackson is my favorite song writer. These guys have such a presence on stage too, and I'd imagine they have all their life. Thankful to get to hear what they have to say.
Favorites! Could even be requested to be played at my funeral
Two musicians that gave me so much happiness, good times, laughing and loving while listening to their music growing up, and still to this very day the music sends me back to some of the very best memories of my life, thank you both, love and respect, God bless always and in all ways, rest in Heavenly peace Gregg🙏❤✌
This is one of those rare moments which seal the magic of friendship throughout the years. Captured live, this behind the glimpse moments before taking the stage, remains one of the all time moments of a forever capture, where we all see ourselves for who we once were . Then and now
This is a treasure of a video, for the song, the performance, and these warm and immensely talented pioneers of the rock generation. [spoiler alert, I'm going to offer a subjective opinion many may not appreciate...]
Gregg's departure from the original closing line leaves out what I really believe is one of the most inspiring lyrics in the whole song...
"...don't remind me of my failures, I had not forgotten them."
To this day, at age 68, I simply cannot imagine how at 16 years of age, Jackson found this song and brought it out for all the rest of us. Perhaps even more remarkable, with dementia slowly consuming him, Glenn Campbell broke free long enough to leave us with one of his greatest performances of this masterpiece. To this day, I am grateful to have been born in 1952, and lived through what may turn out to be humankind's last golden age, side-by-side with these great artists.
There should be a way to like a video a thousand times with each press.
All that I can say is WOW! So beautiful. So much talent on that stage. I am sad to think I will never have the chance to see Gregg Allman perform live, but cherish the music he made. All of it! I do hope to see Jackson Post Covid, if I am lucky.
Tasteful keyboards and magnificently efficient guitar work. It only raises up the beautiful vocals. Marvelous.
I've always loved this song and this together has just made my evening. Thank you so much Gail in Central Florida may 18th 2022. I may be old but I essentially catch up with the rest. Thanks
Gregg had so many great songs you can't count them all. This was another one.Always had a great voice!!
How could you not love these 2 guys ?
Love you Gregg and Jackson so much forever and ever. i am so thankful that we can go back and have these videos. Takes me back to when I was 16 years old and the Allman Brothers were blasting from my best friend's older brother's room across the street, and Jackson was blasting from my sister's turntable from her room upstairs. Thank you.
Just this! I have never missed a singer like I miss him.
Heartfelt tears for the years gone before❣️ We were young. We loved, lived, made mistakes, and came through. The music remains 🥰❤️🥰
Hello Eliza , if you are receiving this message it means you are a true fan and I want to say a big thanks for your love and support towards me and my career all through the years of my life, sending love to you and yours.
Gregg was a great musician! he will be missed A rock legend
Just beautiful.
I remember taking the plastic off of Everyman.. I couldn't wait to put it on the turntable.. played it countless times.. we were blessed with Jackson, James Taylor , Cat Stevens and many more, Then I saw he ABB open for the Grateful Dead..
What a time it was for music.. 73 was my junior year in high school.. while my musical world was always expanding, I still come home to the music that shaped me. 50 years later and yup..
This song brings tears to my eyes. Gregs Beautiful voice.
I had a small connection to the ABB and that music is still so worthy of praise. Gregg's voice is so emotional, on every song. I read Gregg's biography and I'd highly recommend it cause it tells how he and his brother Duane worked so so so hard to learn their musical sound. Just playing constantly before the band formed and learning their craft. It's a good read and Jackson is in the book in several stories. Just two very talented artists, the likes I doubt we'll see again any time soon.
My all time favorite song!!!! It felt like my life!!!!!!!!!
Jack Pearson on slide guitar, masterful. One of the mainstays in Gregg’s touring and recording bands for years.
Jack is one of the greatest guitar players I’ve ever seen. He flies under the radar of the well known and more
splashy Southern guitar players but he’s as good, if not better, than most of them. Beautiful taste and tone.
Maybe he reminded Gregg of someone. 😉
I was fortunate enough to have Gregg back in the day. Sometimes late at night after a show or wherever I would listen to this man sing the blues, and I'm telling you, he could take to a place most people can only imagine. RIP MY BROTHER, you are one of the great ones.
These Days !! Gosh, best song on an awesome album! Gregg Allman / Awesome!
So much passion, so much depth of feeling, makes a this grown man want to cry with joy....god bless both.
What a painfully sad song. I'm 63 years old and tears are running like rain.
Beautiful.
This is a song that speaks to a much younger self. Love and loss.
Unfortunately Love and Loss have no age boundaries my friend
This makes me cry, it’s so sad and beautiful.
My two teenage crushes singing together. Tears and years ago.
WoW! Always loved this song- it’s so true to how my heart feels at times. Greg brought to a whole other level!
Hello Bohemian , if you are receiving this message it means you are a true fan and I want to say a big thanks for your love and support towards me and my career all through the years of my life, sending love to you and yours.
Three years he's been gone. But forever lives this beautiful song.
My first concert was seeing the Allman Brothers Band in Mobile Alabama in a football field. I was about 14 and I was getting high as a kite 🪁 Gregg looked like he had just come from a shampoo commercial. It was sunny and a little breeze made him look like an angel in earth.
Toni Francis, it rings true to me. His songs get you through the harder side of life. You realise we all have to stand up and bear with it and move forward, such a legend. PS, he even makes this song have more meaning to me. WOW LOVE IT. LOVE PEOPLE LOVE LIFE. YOU LIVE ON FOREVER GREG AND ALL THE ALLMAN BROTHERS...…...
What can I say, simply two masters at work, and making a masterpiece. Gregory and Jackson true genius! And greggallman good buy my friend xoxoxoxoxoxoxoect
This song makes me cry.

Missing you Gregg. 🌈💓🎶
Oh
My..To think that Greg is not on this earth plane to give us beautiful music?? Breaks my heart..yet: he is sinyw/the angels…. ❤
Just beautiful. Gregg's voice sounds like the wisdom of a thousand lifetimes. Jackson and Gregg are so great together. Greatness all around.
The wisdom of a thousand lifetimes...so lovely. Thank you for that. You're so right.
I love listening to these two! ❤❤
Great song sung by two great songwriters and singers. Love love both of them🥰✌️
Always respect to Gregg against his fame to its challenged. A sweet man forever!
Two giants.. so appreciated.
So blessed to have spent time around him at his party in Ormandy beach after meeting him at Wreck bar Daytona beach. Then in the 80’s at the Hyatt house❤️🎶✌️🎼🌙
Love ❤️ These Two!
I love Jackson Browne!
Chuck Leavell on piano, such a master of the instrument!
Did he play on the Laid Back album version way back when as well?
I LOVE the keyboard runs/riffs on "Multi Colored Lady" on that masterpiece!
@@nofascistsonmywatch Yes, he was the piano player on that album, good ear David!
@@SouthernRocker Yes, I LOVE that keyboard work, some of the riffs almost remind me of Bruce Hornsby's work, but he was not around until MUCH later.
Maybe Mr. Hornsby 'borrowed' some of those piano runs from Chuck?? LOL
I lost track now, but was Chuck with the Allmans from Brothers And Sisters on, or was he with them even before that?
The best...
It's hard to find the words to say - I'll just say....legends !
ICONS!
I miss him...so many of our greats are gone...and now we lost Eddie 💔
I'd like to know the feeling Jackson has while listening to Gregg Allman sing this great song of his.
Jackson is the best
He is one truly dedicated man
I just love love love him
Pure HONOR!
So beautiful and so missed. Makes me cry too.
Jackson and Gregg are two of the best musicians of our time or any other. No one even comes close to these two!
Beautiful
Probably one of the best moving song and video I’ve seen in a long time .
Love these 2 !
