Came across this show with Gregg Allman. He's a great storyteller and wonderfully amusing! I love his acoustic guitar singing Melissa, Midnight Rider and These Days. What a great, giving talented man. We all miss him.
The one and only Gregg Allman!! So glad that I came across this gem!! Love Gregg and the Allman Bros and these acoustic live versions of these songs with Gregg’s Beautiful voice!! He is and will always be missed!! RIP Gregg and Duane!! RIP Baby Sis, Mom and Dad!! See y’all again one day!! 🎶 🙏 🥰
I studied classical piano for many years, never listened to rock & I studied classical piano for many years, never listened to rock & roll because I thought it was awful. Several years ago I heard this great song "Sweet Melissa" and had to find out who sang that great song. Since that discovery of Gregg Allman I've regretted the years I lost not listening to this artist and all because I was a snob. He's a magnificent singer, an artist with an abundance of soul, a true musical genius who plays guitar, organ, piano, a composer, who sings so tenderly and honestly I cry because he touches me as no other artist has ever moved me. God Bless You Gregg. May you be with God serenading Him and His heavenly chorus of angels, saints, and all the regular folks God chose to live with Him in His celestial palace.
We opened for the Allman Bros Band in '69 in St Petersburg, FL. We sat in a circle backstage and passed around a couple of joints and talked about Music. One of my favorite memories. Our lead guitarist, Lenny Austin, and I stood 6 ft from Gregg during their performance, just behind the curtain. I said, "Lenny, we are never gonna see these guys again. They are going straight to the TOP!" (Our keyboard player shot himself in the foot and got out of the draft)
Gregg is one of a kind! This world is just not the same without him in it. He is loved and missed by so many. Rest easy brother Gregg. You now wander the hills and valleys with your beloved brother Duane.
SO happy to find this. I discovered Greg, Duane, and the ABB in 1969 at a friends house whose brother had just bought their first, eponymous, album. I was immediately hooked; Greg's soulful, bluesy voice, Duane's unbelievable playing, and the cohesion of the band itself was just amazing. They are still in my regular rotation today. So good to see Greg celebrating his 1 yr sobriety anniversary here, as I'd seen him at his worst. In '74, I saw the ABB in Phoenix and they'd took a 30min break between sets. I was standing no further than 25 ft from Greg & his Hammond when they came back out. As an ex-addict myself, Greg had obviously gotten loaded (heroin) during the break. He couldn't keep from nodding off at the keyboard for the remainder of the concert. I was sadden & heartbroken to see him like this, having been there myself. I truly thank God that Greg finally made it to sobriety and continued to bless us with his music. Love to you Greg. Rest well, my friend . 💙
Thank God! 🙏 I had the opportunity of seeing the Allman Brothers in New Orleans Louisiana at the saenger theater 🎭 and I believe it was 1979 or 1980 I clearly remember seeing them on stage! They opened with George thorogood and he was a very narcissistic person! And would not let me and my friend backstage! Well! It's June 27th 2024 and I'm still listening to the music of the Allman Brothers! We lost dickey Betts this year! Rest in peace guys 🙏 you're up there with the big wigs now!❤❤❤
I love Gregg He was such a phenomenal man, musician, so intelligent, so gentle and I’m just heartbroken he’s no longer with us but still so grateful he was here.
My old man was 24yrs,sax player,we saw greg & his band in Calif He played so smooth, like fresh water,he was thin, young, beautiful, his music so southern, we all jamed with leon russel,on stage, unforgetable blues...
That version of Melissa choked me up... Gregg reference playing at Red Rocks amphitheater I was there outside of Denver -- it was 100 degrees out and we were up all night waiting for Gregg and the All Bros. Probably one of the greatest concerts I ever seen.
Greg in sobriety, clean, his voice clear, he was such a talent and that voice one of kind. Was on stage in Austin with him around 1986ish, he was still fighting those demons...69 yrs old, way too young to lose him
I was working sound support for GA And band at Pope Air Base NCO Club Which is inside Fort Bragg North Carolina. Gregg was having sobriety issues. I was also body man too. Gregg asked me and my crewmate if we had any blow? I grined and said no Mr. Allman.
He seems sober and it’s nice to see home so clear and energetic and more positive compared to many of his other video’s when he was on something, or sick when he was older.
The draft dodging story... Jimmy Carter memories...the discussion about Jackson Browne... And this rendition of Melissa all moved me deeply. I remember the first time I heard them The Allman Brothers ( Allman Joys) were playing on the end of the pier in Daytona Beach. I am so thankful I found this video! And, for me, it is especially wonderful because it's with Graham Nash. Thank you!
I'm so glad I spent whatever amount I did to see him play 8 times....wish there could have been a 9th...but this show is a real treasure. Love you Gregg...RIP and thank you for baring your soul through your amazing music
Gregg Allman contributed so much to rock music, it seems like he put everything he had into his performances, and had tremendous humility and humor! I've been an Allman Bros. fan for a really long time, and have very fond memories and much gratitude for getting to see them perform in the late 70's at The Garden State Art Center, and Convention Hall up in NJ.
Gregg had a gift with his soulful voice and exceptional song writing no one can ever match !!! His memory n the music of the Allman Brothers will never be forgotten !! RIP !!!
I loved Gregory Allman. Thanks for all of your music, and great voice. Your a legend as far as I am concerned. U and ur music will live on forever. I miss you. RIP Gregory ♥️🦋😇😢
Smart, witty, talented, charismatic, the whole package, one of a kind. Him & Dickie Betts graciously signed my Live at Fillmore East album at a show in North Carolina, great moment in my life! Thankfully he didn’t continue on to Dental school….
I was weaned on this music from having older brothers I would sit and listen to The Allman Brothers at Fillmore for hours and hours on our big old cabinet stereo TV combination and I would just listen to that album over and over and that was it I was hooked and all the southern bands that came out of the south at that time it was music I loved and couldn't get enough of now dickey Betts is gone and just can't believe how time goes by we're all getting older and we should cherish those things that we used to love and I sure do miss a lot of the music from back then the 70s it was a great time for music and to grow up I can't believe this story about Vietnam that he shot himself in the foot but I understand but then you got guys like toy Caldwell of the Marshall Tucker band who did go to Vietnam and got a purple heart it wasn't for everybody I can't really say because I wasn't the draft it was done by the time I came of age and I just joined on my own but I remember my brother my oldest brother sweating it out every night when they were doing the drawings like the lottery for the Vietnam draft it was crazy times but I sure do miss them
That was cute with Gregg talking about Elijah. I know Gregg's relationships with his children weren't always easy, but I think he genuinely loved them and was proud of them, even if he wasn't into their particular music genres.
I've got a playlist of greggs interviews. This is my favorite. Intimate, candid, beautiful collaborations, and soulful solos that i can revisit over and over. Not to mention the beautiful close up camera work. It doesn't get any better
Dang…how did this show slip by me? saw Greg at least 15 times since 11 years old seeing with Duane and Berry in 1971 in Alabama…part of my soul … ps just saw Gram Nash in concert…he’s 80 years old… Was an amazing show..
Amen. All these people getting old and passing. I look at their, at my friends, we all again more or less in place our journeys of youth subsiding with our energies shifting to care for the next generations. But I digress, or maybe not.
I have never seen Greg Allman interviewed before. He seems so nice and genuine. What pleasure to watch and listen to him. His music, I have always known. This video is phenomenal. Thank you!
I lost a great friend when he passed He was fighting his demons and he lost the battle He and Dicky were so good to me and I miss them both RIP my beautiful friends ❤❤❤❤❤
This is so wonder to find. One of my very favorites of all time . He is looking so healthy an in good spirits , really what a gem to find this... Sweet Melissa is also a fav of my husband's an mine. R. I . P.. ya rocking blues man.
Roll on....sigh. thank you so much for this wonderful clip. Had the fortune of seeing Duane with the Allmans way back when I was just 17 and never stopped seeing them Loving them through it all til Greg passed. Many shows many roads many blessings. Yes We miss you Greg. Thanks for the music
why? It was ridiculously awkward. Tho terrific at what he does, Greg is not the sharpest tool in the shed. You're one of many many suck-ups from what I can tell, and I even very much like what those guys have stood for musically
The Allman Brothers 8-trak tape was given to my brother in 1970 and I was 15, he was 17. First concert I ever saw at The Atlanta Municipal Auditorium. We went on to see them 19 times not counting free at Piedmont Park. First real music-First Concert-First Joint....
Got to see Greg back in Pensacola, Florida sometime in 2013, with Hank Williams Jr. What a performer and spiritual being he was while here on his journey. Can't get enough of his music and miss him dearly. From a Vietnam Era Marine Corps veteran.
This is simply amazing....I'm so very happy to have had this pop up on my you tube... Greg was a straight up soldier...God how I loved this guy and the bands music 9/²ⁿ²ⁿ
GREG ALLMAN. what a great man and musician. I so much wish I could have met this man one time and tell him how much his music has meant to me over the years. Great episode thank you........
Gregg was clean for good here and it's great to see. The Seven Turns album and tour that followed was a rebirth for the band and he made peace with Dickey before he passed which as it should be. RIP Gregory
Unfortunately, he was not. Watch his interview with Dan Rather in 2015 (it’s on UA-cam), and listen to what he says about getting drunk during the band’s 1995 Rock and Roll HOF Induction. He was horrified watching his brief speech on playback the next day.
Alcohol and drugs, comes with the territory of being a musician and in a band. Him Dickey, Jamo ,Butch, and the others in the band made the best live music I ever saw. Gregg will always be my all time favorite.
In 65 years,of listening to all genre's of music.I can honestly say,I never heard anyone else, sing with such raw emotion and soul.R.I.P.
I've always thought so too, very few if any other white man can sing with that kind of soul. R I P Greg.

I loved Gregory Allman. Thanks for all of your music, and great voice. Your a legend as far as I am concerned. U and ur music will live on forever. I miss you. RIP Gregory ♥️🦋😇😢
Such a national treasure❤️ Looks,voice,soul,blues,soft spoken polite southern gentleman.💕
A fantastic archival piece. I would do almost anything to own that guitar. Thanks Gregg. A true Southern gentleman.
Smart, witty, talented, charismatic, the whole package, one of a kind.
Him & Dickie Betts graciously signed my Live at Fillmore East album at a show in
North Carolina, great moment in my life!
Thankfully he didn’t continue on to Dental school….
Never do I get tired of listening and watching this video. Thank you, Gregg. Thx Graham. Whew !!!!!!!
So grateful to have seen the Allman Brothers live. One of the best concerts ever. I cherish and love their music. So much soul
I saw Greg Allman in concert in The Woodlands, Texas. I had third row seats - what a thrill !!
SWEET MELISSA,. BEAUTIFUL AND PERFECT. THANK YOU GREGG FOR THE MUSIC 🎶🎵🎶🎵🎶🎵🎶🎵
I've got a playlist of greggs interviews. This is my favorite.
Intimate, candid, beautiful collaborations, and soulful solos that i can revisit over and over.
Not to mention the beautiful close up camera work. It doesn't get any better
Dang…how did this show slip by me? saw Greg at least 15 times since 11 years old seeing with Duane and Berry in 1971 in Alabama…part of my soul … ps just saw Gram Nash in concert…he’s 80 years old…
Was an amazing show..
You really have no idea as to how wonderful this is to see again after so long and in perfect quality !!
Really miss him 🍑
I Love It!!! I got My First Drum Kit and Guitar From a Paper Route. That's Been Taken Away From Young Men. Sad.
Saw Greg 4 times
Thank you!
Love you always Gregg 💓
Totally moved by watching this incredible video of yesterday's rock and roll heroes icons The brothers were all of the above

PRICELESS TREASURES OF PURE AMERICANA 🇺🇸 🎶 🎵 RIP BRO. GREG. SEE YA & DWAYNE @ THE 'CIRCLE UN-BROKEN' ✝️ 🕊 🎶
That foot shooting story was hysterical! Keep it rockin up above Gregg!
Gregg was fantastic!! He's also got such a great sense of humor. I love that!!
Simplicity. Gregg and The Southern Brothers Are All Simple, Honest and Mannerly. That Speaks Volumes!
Gregg has so many mistakes.
All you people make all your comments and you actually never even twice met him to even comment, Sad!
@@lisaweaver986 Sounds like somebody woke up on the wrong side of the bed.
Absolutely love this man❣️
A great Blues singer-never knew how good he could play the guitar. wow
And he was awesome on the piano and organ🎹
Roll on....sigh. thank you so much for this wonderful clip. Had the fortune of seeing Duane with the Allmans way back when I was just 17 and never stopped seeing them Loving them through it all til Greg passed. Many shows many roads many blessings. Yes We miss you Greg. Thanks for the music
Love hearing Graham and Gregg together.
why? It was ridiculously awkward. Tho terrific at what he does, Greg is not the sharpest tool in the shed. You're one of many many suck-ups from what I can tell, and I even very much like what those guys have stood for musically
@@Vibeagain wow do we have some anger issues?
I love Gregg his songs and his bands will always be in my 💜
What a great video 💙 Loved seeing Gregg Allman 💙🎤💙🎸🌟⭐️💫
The Allman Brothers 8-trak tape was given to my brother in 1970 and I was 15, he was 17. First concert I ever saw at The Atlanta Municipal Auditorium. We went on to see them 19 times not counting free at Piedmont Park. First real music-First Concert-First Joint....
Epic voice
He had the combination of its delivery. Feelings with words. Can take your soul to your other side. Sometimes had the ingredients of power.
Got to see Greg back in Pensacola, Florida sometime in 2013, with Hank Williams Jr. What a performer and spiritual being he was while here on his journey. Can't get enough of his music and miss him dearly. From a Vietnam Era Marine Corps veteran.
Iconic voice, u know his music right away. Your mind runs to your youth .
This actually seems like a really cool show! I had no idea Graham Nash had his own series. Also I like that everyone asked really good questions.
This is simply amazing....I'm so very happy to have had this pop up on my you tube... Greg was a straight up soldier...God how I loved this guy and the bands music 9/²ⁿ²ⁿ
Besides being a great guitarist is an excellent storyteller he is captivating.
What a gem of a recording. Thanks for sharing.
Man , really great to him in such good shape and clear .
This is a document of one of the greats , making it back too himself .
GREG ALLMAN. what a great man and musician. I so much wish I could have met this man one time and tell him how much his music has meant to me over the years. Great episode thank you........
Don’t know how I missed this at the time, but sure am glad I got to see it!! 🍄
