HVAC Overload! A Bit of Everything Today

- Today was one of those days where we did a little bit of everything in the HVAC world! From small repairs to major system checks, we covered it all.
We kicked things off by changing a head assembly for a VAV hydronic zone valve, making sure the system was responding properly and controlling temperature as it should. Next, we checked out a boiler that a homeowner was quoted $30,000 to replace-even though there was absolutely nothing wrong with it! It’s frustrating to see unnecessary upsells like this, and it’s a reminder why getting a second opinion is so important.
Then it was onto a no heat call, which turned out to be a simple bad thermocouple-a quick and easy fix. After that, I jumped in to help a coworker on an install, lending a hand to keep things moving.
But the day wasn’t over yet! I got another no heat call, and this time, the issue was a bad radiator valve. Instead of replacing it right away, I was able to fix it by simply removing the handle, allowing the homeowner to still use it until a proper replacement was needed.
Finally, we wrapped up with an oil burner that was air-bound, which meant it needed to be bled to get the fuel flowing properly again. After clearing the air from the lines, the burner fired up like it should, and the heat was back on!
Days like this remind me why I love HVAC-there’s never a dull moment, and every job is a new challenge. Whether it’s troubleshooting, repairs, installs, or helping homeowners avoid unnecessary replacements, it’s all in a day’s work!
Let me know in the comments-what’s the craziest mix of jobs you’ve had in one day? Don’t forget to like, subscribe, and hit the bell so you don’t miss out on more HVAC adventures!

That was a lot of hair, but I think my furnace this morning has that beat... vacuumed an entire dog worth of hair out of a return. Filled my shop vac twice.
