Curtis,
That was the cleanest package unit I have seen you work on
No wild bushes, overgrown grass, or grass all piled up inside the unit. Another great diagnostic!
I like how you jumped the reversing valve when you left to ensure the customer could not further damage the compressor. smart move sir.
Almost looks like the bulb capillary tube of that TXV was rubbing on the service panel door!
Nice step by step troubleshooting
Good job Curtis! I look forward to your follow up video for the TXV replacement. I'm retired after 45 years of residential, commercial and industrial HVAC&R service all over California and Nevada. Your channel is a nice and CLEAN way for me to relive some of my glory days and some nightmares as well.
works in cooling not in heating, accumulator frosting over and it appears the frosting stopped at it and didn't also frost out towards the RV and coil.
that has me wondering if the reversing valve wasn't fully moving back to heating position and leaving the suction port blocked, moving just far enough to let discharge leak through and not high pressure cutoff. guess it really depends on the RV internal port spacing, but as far as I know they begin to open the discharge port to the other port before transferring suction over by the sealed slide port.
probably use temp clamps and check for difference from center suction port of reversing valve to the port towards condenser when in heat mode, but maybe I'm just overthinking it. 🤔
Great job troubleshooting Curtis be looking for the repair thanks for the video
Thanks
Nice diagnosis, Curtis. Thanks for the video.
You bet
You can pour some hot water on it to work temporarily until it is replaced. Good luck
Thanks Curtis, i look forward to the repair 👍 Au
Well done Curtis 👏
Curtis yesterday I had a Ruud split system that the company installed about two weeks ago and it was also going into a vacuum in heating mode on the true suction port. It also had a high and low purchase switch and it was not catching
Well, was it the same thing
the high pressure switch is between the compressor and reversing valve (black wires, behind reversing valve), the low pressure/charge switch should be the top one with blue wires.
and right before I posted, you pointed that out in video. lol
Well done Curtis
Thanks
Running without a filter is diabolical!
Nice work Curtis.
Thanks!
Cant wait to see txv changeout
I was saying out loud your camera is pointed at the low pressure switch by your gauges 😂 was in camera view but must have not been in yours
Thanks Curtis. My replacement mini-split compressor was over $1200 for the part. On warranty fortunately.
Ahh a curtis video with a txv changeout it's been to long curtis that used to be a norm and of course it would not be a south video from you without an rtu package unit on the ground where in my state Pennsylvania thats a, no no even if the house is a ranch style house or a pier and beam foundation instead of a basement. Only rtu package units allowed on flat roofs like big Comercial buildings or apt buildings like high rise apts.
You could always look on the schematic on the door ?
We Can’t Hear You. 😬 Did you Say the Compressor Sounds Loud ? 😬👍
where's all the refrigerant going or gone too? somethings off there bypassing, out of gas, etc.
In heat mode do you ever test TXV by warming up bulb?
Thermal camera would have made this one easier.
With the right tool everything is always easier 🤡
My lord that compressor is very loud. Whew
IKR, had to turn the volume down.
👍👍👍
good t/s curt
Thanks
What would cause that? Debris in the TXV, maybe someone didn't flow nitrogen while brazing?
Maybe loss of charge on the bulb
How do you know which is heating TXV and cooling TXV😂
TXVs suck. But what can you do? They should design them all to where you can change the power head. Good Diag
They make adjustable txvs some universal.
I still can't get over rtu package units on the ground in the south that's a no no in Pennsylvania even if the home is a rancher or pier and beam foundation and we have some In PA heck we even have some mobile homes.
And yes around my mom's there are some trailer parks not sure if it's still there though as the area by mom's used to be very rural but not anymore.
Thats why they say in Pennsylvania it's like Philadelphia and Pittsburg with Alabama in between.
Me where I live I am more getting out of Philadelphia but closer to delaware but once you get up closer to Lancaster county now it seems to get more Alabama like or even berks county.
@@gabrielstern4992 I hear ya. The only ones I see around here, La. are the horizonal units that mount to the building. There are heat pumps around, but not too popular.
Like the customer knows what a TXV is :)
Ye, I had to explain that
Cable TV ? 😬👍
It’s where the blinker fluid goes 🤣
Can you please explain which wires did you jump to get pressure relived. Thank you and great job.
I jumped from red to orange, which makes it energize the reversing valve to run in cool.
@ that would make a great video. Thank you so much. I’m a HVAC student. 🙏
well its a grand-aire thats your problem, bad RV. I normally see really high head pressure when the TXV locks down, instead it seemed like the RV was bypassing in heating mode.
You would actually have to be moving refrigerant to have high head pressure, when your suction is 0 there is nothing to compress
1st
You could have edited out the footage when you were just thinking...
He could have done that...and you could have just skipped ahead in the video and bypassed it altogether.
