    Great video man, thank you. I'm not a mechanic by any stretch of the imagination but your video is so straightforward and detailed I was able to swap out my starter and she fired right up when I was done

    what most people dont know is that the wiers to the starter will come down far enough so you can disconect the wires after you drop the starter

    There was a 1978 El Camino v8 that was converted to run on hydrogen (water through carb) back in 2006. Owner drove around for several thousand miles at low power, before locking in storage garage. Shop in Georgia used obsolete dual 1.5MH coils relay per cylinder,and diodes, and passed 6-7 amps current through spark plugs same time as spark, using Inverter with half wave diode. Champion plugs cross reference with same REACH can be taken apart at top to exchange 6kohm resistor for copper wire substitute- like a racing plug. Timing was retarded to minus 34 degrees. Will start and run Idle speed but for acceleration power, the carb was uncovered to increase size of main jet redrilled about 30% bigger for more water. The EGR assisted the efficiency, but later on they found out that just some of the exhaust water would also smooth out engine running if reused! The exhaust has compressed in Nitrogen from air that boosted efficiency. (Air is 78% Nitrogen) Web site shut down, but couple videos 1+2 are still there on him and son running lawnmower engine on water. S1R9A9M9 -Nathren) I studied the whole thing. He now only runs V8 on engine stand for 24hr hooked to electrical power generator, with water line .

    Thank you so much for posting. I had been trying to find a video on replacing a starter on a 305. It should be the same process for my 78 Skylark.

    Those starters are bulky, but not heavy. Lol
    Tilt the terminal end up and twist the starter, then you can slide it right out.

    Bro. My Elco almost started on fire. I have a fringed wire that connects to starter. My question is where do them set of wires originate from? On mine there is a metal piece that bolts to side of block. The set of wires comes from this. I wana call it a harness, but what harness? How can I get to it to rewire the torn wire from shortin out n causin a fire. Wires on starter are fine its all the way back where wires originate. What am I describing? Lol Im lookin through manuals n nothing covers it exactly. Common sense tells me ill have to replace that whole harness but how do they come out. Sorry for my messy question lol thanks though. ✌ nice elco!

    • @j.j.sgarage1457
      @j.j.sgarage1457  3 роки тому

      Sorry for the late reply. I hope you figured it out. Id replace the harness or open the harness up and find the burned wire and replace that but normally when that happens it creates more damage than it’s worth fixing so might as well replace it.

    Bro!! I have a 79 Monte Carlo. I’m wondering what caused you to change your starter. No crank? My fuel pump is working but my damn car won’t even crank 😒

    • @j.j.sgarage1457
      @j.j.sgarage1457  2 роки тому +1

      Yes pretty much, click but no crank then nothing at all. You can try hitting the starter with a mallet while someone turns the key if it tries to turn over you have a dead starter for sure. 60% of the time it works every time Haha! Good luck to ya
