every time you do anything in sm I am reminded that you know basically nothing about the game, yet you are still trying to do something pretty complicated. A few things you should know: any part that changes in size / moves (pistons, suspension, bearings) does not have collision, any floating object (or any object that is connected to a moving part) will cause lag, so while a marble machine is a nice idea in theory, it will be way too laggy to do for real (at any useable scale).
A quick and easy optimization: set the entire block of each fish stair to one piston, that way there is only one object and one piston per step and the machine will be so much less laggy (I know it isnt really laggy in the video, but it will be much more laggy if you try to expand it)
For the programing, you should have it "belt fed" (you have one large block with the notes programed into it that would be rolled along with wheels)

What you could've done here instead was cut off the sides of the sensor bar, build the poles higher, then weld the end of the sensor bar back onto the higher poles. It's a pretty necessary trick if you're spending any amount of time in Scrap Mechanic making stuff like this. You can "copy paste" things by saving them using the Lift and then placing an empty Lift and loading the saved creation. This can be repeated as many times as you want, and you can just weld them on.

You can also download a mod to gain access to the challenge mode parts in creative, but you won't be able to dump them off the edge to delete them.

Suggestion for later scrap vids: use the lift!!!!! The lift is essential for a scrap player, it is used for many things, like saving your builds, dropping objects, lifting yourself up, other stuff a lift does, and best of all, IT DOESNT HAVE A WEIGHT LIMIT! (this is for your builds not marballs)

11:38 friction matters in this game

19:55 Logic connections do matter what direction it goes in, idk if that was intentional but just a reminder :D

I can't promote the use of mods enough to you, they add so much creative freedom and variety, mods I would recommend looking into are the Modpack, and it's many subsidiaries (e.g: polygons, beta), the Legend mod, and maybe more complex A.I related mods such as intelligentia, which can let you make turrets that automatically shoot at players, vehicles, etc. Also recommend talking to some community figures, I believe you've seen kAN's videos, I'm sure they would enjoy having you in their weekly challenges so you can gather more experience, idk just some suggestions for u

I'm generally a fan of just running things vanilla, but the Modpack in particular sounds very interesting. At some point I'll probably check out mods

@@ReidCaptain I use it it's so useful. You have math blocks with different functions, you have number blocks that you can use number logic with, you have a memory panel that you can store numbers in a compact place, I could go on all day

When you get blocks for your inventory look at the friction (Glass problely has less friction than concrete)

I noticed the fish stair has about twice as many pistons as it needed to. you clearly know that pistons can move entire assemblies at once since you use this behavior elsewhere, but seem to have forgotten this when moving the ramps. what you actually created was a piston pushing the ramp moving alongside a piston not attached to anything but the base.

you could used sensors for the fishstairs. Just activate them when a tire is on them

The fact that I know how to play this game but don't even own it (or a computer that can run it for that matter) bothers me.

    Cool vid, but,
    1) your piston system on the color sensors should be using binary (1, 2, 4, 8) on the lengths
    2) on your stair mechanism you where using to many pistons, only one is needed (even for lifting large objects) having more than necessary wastes FPS/physics
    3) please don’t build your testing platforms on the ground. (It triggers most sm players) Also uploading what you make to the workshop could lead to some cool community interaction
    4) there is a tool called the ‘weld tool’, this is used to ‘weld’ to creations together (when you moved the bar of sensors up you could have just detached the end points and welded it higher
    5) your timer circuit could be improved by having [timer -> not -> and ->] with a switch going into the and for toggling
