- Hey everyone back with more Scrap Mechanic Survival! Today Kosmo and I are trying out a really stupid idea that exploits the physics a little bit. In Scrap Mechanic your character can fall slower than your vehicle so it is possible to make a flying machine that can fly using hammers... @darealkosmo

Scrapmechanic physics dies after sometime when one uses glitches (the cardboard spudgun launcher works for the first 3 to 4 times then it just fails).
Maybe all those miscalculations stack up over time and one point it just becomes too much for the game a d it just resets. No idea tho, I'm not a dev

I think this vehicle is better suited to _scale_ tall things (i.e., warehouses), not traversing the map.
you can swap your sledge tho, so in theory, you can more than double the thrust(?) output just by swapping from hammer and an empty inventory spot

I think I you make it lighter by making the suspension glitch out of mesh, it might work way better

I never would have thought that I would spend 30 minutes watching two men hitting a self-propelled box but here I am.

Why don’t you make it so when you’re in the elevator, there’s a sensor that detects you and makes the elevator go up?
Maybe in single player but in multiplayer they would have to be getting in at the same time which could get annoying

you should try quick hammering like they used to did in fartniite. Hammer once, switch to a different slot, switch back, hammer cooldown is reset. Keep in mind that the hammer hits a little while AFTER you've clicked so dont switch before you've actually hit it. This will REALLY help you FLY MUCH EASILY.
I think the tilting problem could be fixed by moving the suspension glitches up a bit so they are in the middle and each player's movement cancels the rotation.

If you use a lift and a seat to get under the ground, you'll fall until you respawn above the terrain.
So, If you do this correctly, at the base of a warehouse... could it spawn you at the top...?
Probably, but why would you want to do that, the elevator on top only works when you alraedy cleared the warehouse

Maybe it's a way to get on top of big trees, or those silo-things, with out flying or climbing all the way up?
Not much point if it kills you every time, but it could still have some potential.

i think the force, when hitting a block, is always perpendicular to this block. so when you hit straight up sometimes you hit the sides and it doesn't go up, but sideways. so if the box is not straight and you wanna go up, hit the side that is the most parallel to the perpendicular of the ground. also maybe try it with the two boxes next to each other rather than on one another, it should work.
I play the game and I can confirm this is not true, no matter where or what block you hit, the force is applied where the cursor is directly away from the player, i think the reason it's inconsistent is because it's a glitch, it utilizes something that's not means to be in the game, so unlike intensional things that have been polished and tested, it doesn't work well

This reminds me of the time I accidentally created a thrusterless flyer in Dream Car Racing Evo using pneumatic shocks.
You can easily build 2 block suspension stabilizer (no need to upgrade them cuz it doesn't matter) and 2 thrusters - forward and upward.
P.s. Instruction:
USE BLOCKS OF THE SAME TYPE (like tier 1 wood only)
> place a block #1 on the lift
> place lvl1 2 block suspension on top of the block #1
> place the bearing on the side
> place the block #2 on that bearing
> place another bearing on top of this block
> place the #3 block on a bearing
> place the pipe on top, facing away from the suspension
> take it from the lift
> hit it untill you have the back side of the third block available
> place the #4 block on that side
take it on the lift
> weld #4 and #1 together
> delete all blocks except #4
MAKE ANOTHER ONE (REPEAT)
> now take one glitched suspension on a lift
> repeat the process but instead of placing the #4 block you weld another glitched suspension
Result: you have 2x1x2 stabilizer glitch with the total of 2 suspensions and 2 blocks.

kAN, if you want to make suspension glitch in survival : use a suspension and a bearing (I tried it's really efficient).
Place a suspension and a block a te end, on this block in the suspension try to place a bearing and then weld the bearing.

Longer suspensions work better in survival. The suspension glitch works best in modded survival where you can use the super long 8 block suspensions. I have a super stable flyer.

put the suspension glich in the middle of the flyer to balance the thing and prevent from leaning when hammering foreward
hey kan, heres an idea for your survival series. Ive analyzed the core fluctuations in the code of the game and it requires that your computer CPU be at exactly 46.2 degrees celcius to unlock the decrypter in the warehouse to break the warehouse blocks, you also need 2 water containers inside the elevator and 2 gas containers too. without those it wont work and you cant break the blocks in the warehouse.
Is it possible to use reaction wheels as controls and only have one or two thrusters on a flyer? I’ve only done that once in challenge mode but it worked pretty well for me…
What if you made a version of this with windows on the bottom? Windows cost 5 glass and 5 metal to make, and they have 2 friction, so much cheaper compared to saws or drills.
But why would they need low friction?
Also windows saws and drills are all very heavy, it wouldn't fly

if you build the flyer if the tank is too heavy then strip it until it has a minimum amount of t3 metal for the frames and store the t3 in your inventories and once you land on the warehouse you can put the t3 metal back

It's basically like the trade off of a blimp, you could transport weight but you'd need so many hundreds of dwarves to lift any amount of weight it's ultimately impractical and not worth the effort
You guys should definitely build a flyer that could carry the tank and yourselves. It should also be able to hold a gas tank (or two), chests containing fuel, food, and ammo, and a bed for respawning should either of you perish in the warehouse.
I think this would work well as something to haul on the truck to just skip to the top of the warehouse

For the next episode, i would really, really want to see you rob the inside of a warehouse (mining out walls and floors and pipes, boxes, barrels you name it) and a tutorial for how to biild a mi itank that can drag the loot chunks out to the elevator.

Since there's different suspensions in the base it would probably mess you up

Maybe you could put some attachable spud guns on the side of the inside so you just have to press the switch and it will keep firing so you can keep looking and you can maybe turn it the other person can turn it on the down a person can open it actually know you both have your own

Whats the "good" suspension glitch you talked about in the beginning? Is it the 3 blocks tall 1 wide? i made it before, you just have to disassemble the blocks with double controller bearings, place the suspension and bearing, then assemble it back and weld it together the right way.
there is a 2 block tall one with 2 suspension made by brent batch
