    Hey Mr. Cortina, your EC Tuners made it to the home of F Class in Kamloops this weekend. The shoot that took place October 16th and 17th is called the Frosty Farky. After the 2 day match is over, one of the F Class Veterans pulls out a bottle of Sheep Dip (Scotch Whisky) and a bunch of cups to toast Charley. Really cool to hear stories about Charley and also cool to see the EC Tuners at the match. Thanks for all you do for the shooting sports.

    Fantastic interview! As a Journeyman Tool and Die Maker myself I can relate to what Mr. Warner is saying. It was taught to me early on. Everyday try to do it better then yesterday. Regardless of who did it before you. Especially if it was yourself. Always try to do it better then last time.

    Alan Warner - A Legend.... & says....."one change at a time"....as in one variable at a time.....so why would any one want to add an adjustable one.....lol - he would & should know fer sure,....then - sizing.... - obviously it is superior accuracy in a nut shell...hhmmm??....lol. A. Warner - "doesn't pay attention to what others do" - LOVE IT !! - He's The Man fer sure !! - "A Master never stops being a student"....always learning !....Warner dies - Gold Standard for some time now & so glad I have been following for so many years now.

    These interviews are excellent. One comment as food for thought. You and several of the guests have made a comment to the effect of that even a great, accomplished competitor cannot compete with inferior equipment. My thought is why not test that? Get an off the shelf Savage 12 F Class rifle, rebarrel it for your current .284 wildcat using the same reamer as your current competition rifle and the same spec in terms of twist, tuner, etc., and then shoot that rifle up against yours. You'd have the same competitor, the same freedom seeds (because both rifle barrels would use the same reamer), the same front and back rests, the same scope, and the same conditions, and the only variable then would be the rifle. It would be interesting to see if a basically off the shelf rifle with the only change being the recaliber/barrel can perform even close to the high end, totally custom setup. It would also be very interesting to see where the off the shelf setup would score in terms of the standings at the past three or four nationals - i.e. would the off the shelf have the potential to register a score that would be a top 10, top 20, top 50 at Nationals?

    As a person who has been working in Machine Shops for more than half their life, it made me so happy to hear someone point out that gunsmiths aren't doing anything remarkable. I have been telling people for years it only requires a solid understanding of the fundamentals to true actions, chamber barrels and inlet stocks.

    • @14goldmedals
      @14goldmedals 2 роки тому +2

      Exactly, people have bought into the mystique and black magic bs of gunsmithing. It’s a pipe that’s threaded to fit into a block of metal and there’s a hole reamed through it all blah blah blah. There’s nothing complicated about how a gun is built.

    JustWow! What a great exchange. The educational environment is lacking at present time. School shops have sold off all the equipment at bargain prices because someone may cut themselves. It’s too dangerous for our present environment. I taught an aviation course locally for a couple of years and the people who were enrolled could not fathom drilling and tapping a hole in aluminum. Nor would they listen to the instructions as to how to do it correctly. The country is becoming a pull and replace mind set where no intelligence in the process or deductive thoughts are taught, or sought out. Loved the conversation, only it was about two weeks too short!

    Thanks for the video, I’m a newbie so I’m not familiar with all the big names. I’m always interested in learning and will hopefully be entering the world of hand loading if I can ever get large rifle primers. I’m just dying to try out my Hornady OAL guage with a modified case and mess with my shoulder bump comparator and bullet ogive inserts. It is so very depressing that primers are the only thing holding me back from this exciting hobby. Keep up the excellent videos Eric, I appreciate all of your knowledge you share with us beginners. God bless brother

    Very cool video. My head space is at just .0001. Maybe that's one reason that my brass seems to be holding up so well. 8 reloads at 85 gr of US869 and so far no perceptible flow. Now if I could just group LOL!!! Totally starting over learning how to do seating depth and load analysis.
    Thanks Erik. These interview video's are unlike anything I have seen on UA-cam.

    Ione a set of Warner dies for my 375 CheyTac In case anybody reading the comments is wondering if the high price is worth it, in my opinion it absolutely is! It is worth the price to not have to ever second-guess the quality of my equipment. As far as shooting goes I like to always be the weakest link in my process meaning that I like to have superior equipment and rifles and ammunition and components that way when my shots go wide or there is an issue I know that the problem is most likely me and that simplifies things because it’s easier to work on fixing my performance

      Copper is less dense than lead, so for a given bullet length, the solid copper would be lighter than a lead bullet. To put it another way, the solid copper bullet would need to be longer than a lead bullet for the same weight. The longer bullet would require a faster twist rate to stabilize.

      I'm a big fan of that technique, but it does leave you vulnerable if you have to open the bolt on a loaded round. Like for a boat in the impact area at Camp Perry. Ask me how I know :-|
