Itchy Boots returns to Africa. Entering NIGERIA 🇳🇬 [S7-E61]

  • This episode is about my return to AFRICA! I've returned to my beloved Honda CRF300RALLY "Alaska" after leaving her for 4 months in Benin and I am crossing the land border into Nigeria. There are tons of roadblocks in Nigeria, and some are more legit than others, and I am generally a bit wary of them because you never know what will happen..

Great memories. I grew up in Nigeria. My father worked as a peadatrician at the Wesley Guild Hospital in Ilesha where he was part of a program researching measles. We received the first doses of the recently developed measles vaccine which was being tested at the hospital and in the surrounding communities. The only way to travel to Nigeria at the time was by freight steamer but by the time we left in 1961, BOAC was operating flights out of Kano to Europe. All the roads outside of Lagos were dirt and ony a few of the rivers were bridged. Hope you are able to enjoy the wonderful people and their brightly coloured clothes and your experience is not tainted by the security issues.

Must be a little frustrating to you to hear all this english being spoken, but as a Brit, I'm very grateful. I always marvel at Dutch mastery of English, sometimes thinking it's better than native speakers! When I've turned to learning Dutch though, hearing that it's very close to English, I'm afraid I don't get it. lol, what's the secret?
