Military men in Togo take my camera 🇹🇬 |S7E58|

- In this episode I am exploring the mountains of Togo, West Africa. It's a beautiful area and the motorcycling is amazing here. The rainy season has started though, so I need to find some shelter to hide from a storm, but after that I continue to go and see a waterfall. A few kilometers before the waterfall, there is a roadblock and they do not like my helmet camera.

As tense as the interaction with the military men was, the highlight of the video was her discussion with the lady in the wheelchair. Noraly has such a gentle soul.
I agree. Quite a contrast.
Well said.
I love the dress that lady was wearing too, such beautiful colours. Sometimes a simple conversation with someone can brighten anyone's day, we should all try to do that wherever we are :)
wtf!
Exacto, es una dama especial
Sometimes the best (and safest) way to visit some of the exotic places is through the lens of Noraly's camera .
Agreed. I would have been shot by now. Not that I would deserve it either, just my luck with hostile territory.

Congrats, you've been brainwashed by western media.
Thats the dutch People. Known for exploring and travelling. From centuries they do it. Not afraid of anything
For real … I mean the stories I hear alone then traveling unless I’m fully Armed and skilled but with that I will still want to have at least a crew of five to travel with
This is why Africa moves backwards faster than forwards
@@russkle2042 lol I don’t think this is about that … Africans treat white differently and besides that we know ourselves…just like the same way if you go to a foreign land that you have no idea of… because you might have a good perception of the people you would likely do certain things because of what believe and how perceive the people there especially if you believe the people are welcoming to your race
Actually quite surprised that this is the first time you’ve had issues with cameras and the police in Africa.
Luckily for her, Noraly can keep her cool. Usually a few smiles get her through. This video, she wasn't smiling. Except possibly internally, as she knew her 360° camera was filming everything. They just weren't smart enough to know what technology Noraly had.
Well, it was worse than the police. It was the army. And there's one thing you don't want the army to do: interfere with civilian life.
One of the guys even had an eye on her navigation aide.

I was really worried for your safety when that guy grabbed your camera, it was the way he ripped it from your hand, it looked like a nasty situation, and the look on your face told me you were also worried. I'm glad it ended well and you got your camera back and you were unharmed. You have a lot of balls for a lady, be safe.

Hi Noraly, I’m watching all your episodes in a non-chronological way, but you know what …. it doesn’t make a difference because every episode is an adventure on it’s own! You are so amazing, humble and open-minded and showing respect to everyone you encounter, even if they treat you not fair all the time. But because you show how you are, you have, or better you get, a lot of respect back! Also I admire the way you are enjoying your trip all by yourself and your resilience and humour are beyond the normal standards! Thank you again for sharing all the beautiful moments of your trip through Africa!! 🙏🏼

I can see that Noraly is an experienced traveller especially in tough places to travel, she keeps all opinions and negative comments on security issues to herself, because she knows her camera can always be used against her in such places, we look forward to the days of stress free travel in Africa.

This is such an amazing vlog on so many levels. Your spirit of adventure, your bravery, your friendliness and most of all your composure in difficult situations is amazing! I salute you Madame!! ❤😊
I'll cry if I think about the time it will take me to see all those beutiful places on my own. And also for those who will never have the fortune or the guts to go out there and wander like our fellow traveller here. big respect for being so brave.
Noraly is completely at the mercy of people wherever she goes (she's certainly not helpless, but she is only one person), and so many of us care for her, but can do nothing to help from our seats (the only comfort is, the event happened about a month ago, and the video is up, so we know she is ok). So....stay safe, Noraly!
How do you know the event happen about a month ago, that is July 20th ?
@goodman4093 because on one episode a while back, someone said that they knew about a certain tree that Noraly visited (the Cotton Tree, maybe?) was now gone, so she must have seen it just before it blew down, approximately a month before the video was released.
Also, Noraly herself says she delays them to help prevent people from tracking and following her (she said this during her interview in England in July, I believe).
Fame has its costs.
@@ZackaryMac yeah ABR said she confirmed last minute she can come and be a speaker, and a few weeks later we saw videos about her waiting for parts in Abidjan for 10 days, so I'm guessing that was when that happened, big break in travelling + in a relatively big hub.

One thing you DON'T take from a film maker: Her ability to tell a story and earn a living. Especially one of the greatest film makers/videographers on UA-cam. ☹
are you that naïve?
I’m still unsure what they were even looking for or what law she was suspected of violating. Seemed like just some power hungry thugs with guns to me. When more showed up and she was basically surrounded by men with guns it was starting to look pretty scary.
A moment which could have gone wrong but it didn`t thank goodness, keep safe Noraly. xx
The culprits looking over her camera are concerned about being on video themselves. Individuals that are wanted can be found by those looking for them in content such as this. Noraly is not capturing them intentionally but is providing valuable intelligence just the same

In fact, a situation like that could also end up with one suddenly finding oneself in a prison or in a security cell and being mistaken for maybe some “spy” or something like that. But this could of course also happen somewhere else.
@@aris1956 that can happen anywhere in the world depending on the circumstances, it can happen even in Canada or America if you where filming the police putting down a demonstration. I don't think they thought the tablet was a camera, I believe they thought it was connected to the camera and wanted her to show them the camera's content though the tablet.
Thank God Noraly is a very brave and strong woman, I was worried for their next move...but I could also see her been surprised by their reactions...
Dont be sorry atleast they are doing their work to protect the country

In most places, young people who lack sharpness and wit are recruited into the military, where they undergo training to become rough and impolite. Noraly's skillful handling of the uncomfortable and awkward situation with calmness and poise has earned considerable admiration.
"Young" is the wrong word. "Uneducated" is the word. These men don't understand their job and training so they abuse the power of their gun. They most likely had very basic formal education. A lot of soldiers in poorer African countries are not very well educated. Such systems (governments) are not very functional so soldiers are not disciplined in cases like these.

Thank you for sharing your world with us. By doing so, you make our world a better place.
Are you think about travel to africa
You are amazing!! I look forward to following your journey.
Man you got balls of steel. I’d avoid a lot of these countries due to safety concerns. Especially as a woman.
Just Thank You! Thank you for showing me the world, the beautiful views, the cultures, the histories, the geology and the geography. Thank you for your focus!!! Anything I see that does not sit well with me, I can figure it out on my own. Your videos speak volumes. You are amazing. I know I never would have seen these places without you sharing on your channel. For me, it is humbling.
I lived in Africa for 15 years with military escort between camp and airport and could have never imagined to be on my own anywhere. Noraly is one among the bravest woman on this planet. God bless you always on your travels!
As an contractor you should not always see problems then you cant live my play grounds been west africa when you get africa in your blood then you cant get it out ( i have my Guns in one contry in west africa the bank ) 🤣
Can you guys stop generalisation. Mention the name of the country instead of the continent because some countries in West African are extremely safe . In Gambia, we have a lot of expatriates, mostly from England, but they need no guard or gun to go about their business. I believe the same for Senegal, Ghana, etc etc
Africa is a lot safer than a lot of other western countries. Its the people who make a place safe not the place itself
I been in Senegal and Gambia and they are safe but they can also start cooking in the pot😆
@@janeriksson4199 what do you mean start cooking in the pot?
Well done & you do it all in good spirits & always a lovely smile.
Love following 🇦🇺👍😊
Brave, intelligent, resilient 💪 very strong Lady. Thanks.
Hi Noraly. Of course I'm concerned for your safety. Much turmoil is happening in the great continent of Africa. I'll say a extra prayer.🙏✌️♥️🗽
I dont think prayers will help.
Its becoming more and more dangerous.
Dont go further.
I think these are taped and Noraly is in Holland doing whatever people in Holland do
Noraly must not have just an angel on her shoulder as she does these videos. She must have an entire legion of them! 😇🙏
@@user-ro1qs4bm6tTaped a few days or a week at most. She was warned about Niger ongoing conflict by the money changers a few episodes ago
I am travelling Australia alone in my off road caravan , but to watch your videos is a high point in my day. I never cease to be amazed at your exploits. You are truly a very remarkable lady. May you always be safe in your journey. Jerry
What is your channel id like to see Australia
Son passage au Maroc est incroyable
Itchy Boots you made my day.The Togo Mts are beautiful!
You make me see those amazing sceneries… wow! You are so brave ❤ Take care of yourself 🤩
My husband is Togolese and we go there every other year. I was so on edge wondering what those men were going to do with your camera. I always feel so on edge when next to any military/police/border control because I feel so much at their mercy when we are there, but you stayed so calm. I'm amazed and inspired by your bravery and courage. So glad you showed Togo the world! Most people have never heard of it!
lol then you're at their mercy? You're at the country's mercy 24/7 on an unspoken arraignment of good faith with people she knows nothing about, nor what to do if there's an emergency or worse... disarmed in a second, and these are people who most likely weren't nefarious... imagine putting blind trust in an entire country who don't have any accountability like these men. God complexes. "Reporters" are kidnapped by pirates, tourist bodies are found in god awful shape and are plastered on the news. God complex, but God was never a statistic... people are.
If that is how tourists are treated in Togo.....you can keep it!!!
They l sell that cam, the leader gets the loot
@@iluvmoney6767 this does not tell the entire picture.
@@TheBigQQ69420she would have already informed netgerlands embassy she's there they dare not do anything to her the western world don't joke with the lives of their citizens
Thank you Noraly. Amazing journey also includes interaction with people from all walks of life. Her calm cooperation with the security checkpoint turned out well. She shows us that when traveling the world you have to be respectful of other folks countries and local norms. We all have to admit that what she is doing is extremely rare. I can see how a security check point would find it difficult to believe.

You’re a very brave woman to travel all that distance. Y yourself. It must be a beautiful experience for you. It’s very interesting. Africa is a beautiful continent . I enjoyed watching thanks for sharing your experience and journey with us. Blessings , blessings
Thanks for bringing the diversity and uniqueness of Africa to the world view. Atleast ur video has proven that Africans do not live on trees like so many people wrongly believe. We are a work in progress and will get there one day
