- In this video, I am riding from Abuja, the capital of Nigeria to the border with Cameroon. It's well over 800 kilometers, so I take two days to do it. Along the way, I pass over 50 checkpoints - mostly with tree trunks on the road, and often with armed guys without official uniform. I try to make my way quickly through Nigeria, because of the security situation. Once I reach the highlands, I get to see a completely different side of Nigeria, and it's like I entered a different world..

I was in Nigeria in the 1980s and there were roadblocks then, too. But still, watching your video I’d love to go back. Nigerian people are awesome.

If you can stop by motorcycle or even car repairer, ask if they use Loctite (there are other brands. Check is only "medium strength" then add a tiny droplet on the threads of your tablet retention screws then you should have no more issues with having a screw loose. 😂❤

The bread seller told her friend in Igbo language the very moment she came up, whilst Noraly's visor was still up, 'This is a woman riding this adventure bike' When her friend let out a surprised laugh she asked her 'Did you not hear her voice even if you could not see her face' She gave a thumbs up.

Lagos used to be really unsafe. You could not walk on the street for fear of getting mugged.
Since Noraly's trip through Zimbabwe where I used to live I have been an avid fan. In my opinion, one of, if not the best channel on UA-cam. I was in the military many years ago and to be honest Noraly displays more courage and stamina than many men who served in my unit. Noraly is a star and deserves every success.

I've followed Noraly for most of these adventures and it's easy to miss how far she travels every day. She's on that bike ALL day, in all conditions. I was also concerned seeing roadblock after roadblock, but she maneuvered passed them all with ease.
Noraly is one of those people who just exude nice. People immediately pick up on that, no matter the country, and she is welcomed by them.
As an American, I shake my head wondering why this isn't being broadcast on television. Those folks are missing a solid gold hit and a potential viewership that would top millions. Every episode. Our Noraly is global, too. She's liked by every culture she encounters.
I'll say it again...someone is going to figure that out soon...

I don't think any media company would require one. All of her episodes are filmed, viewed and edited by her. Same with the drone shots. (my fav) I would think a media co. would recognize some internal edit process, but her work is virtually television ready. I agree with you. A "producer" would be a detriment to the quality and wouldn't be necessary with her.@@gjohnston6052
People that don't ride in less than favorable environments cannot imagine what its like riding all day without proper facilities. We see just over 20 minutes and viewers feel tired just watching her do that. She has to go through so many challenges in these countries we'll never see. It boggles my mind when I think about the physical and mental toughness required. I call her the real Wonder Woman. As far as being broadcast on TV I will speculate she doesn't want it to be. Only way maybe if she owned the TV network. With TV comes advertisers and advertisers often dictate content and then control is lost. Money grabbing starts down an ugly path. Noraly is independent and she stays in complete control of her content and image. But she is very intelligent so maybe someday after her world riding, filming, editing, creating, uploading videos is done she will figure out a way to get her content to the masses. To me what is most valuable (aside from the amazing geography and culture teachings) is how she teaches us to live and treat other people. Peace!
I know everyone is wondering why there are so many checkpoints and road blocks. We have security issues, and the perpetrators hide in these beautiful forests you all see. Its not pretty, but this is what's necessary to keep things in check, considering the meager resources.
As you can see, most checked her out and waived her off.

One really dedicated, professional commander-in-chief uninterested in oil money could solve a lot of the country's security problems. Foot soldiers see and reflect what their commanders do.

Maybe as a black, the officers may delete you, unless they are not fulanis... it's a dangerous journey and you can run into BokoHaram and you know the outcome, global traveling now is not advice able, people do and succeed sometimes, but you never know, might end up being unlucky.

It’s really helpful many Nigerians people speak English, it does make travel from Europe to Nigeria easier, the police seem like mostly good people, better than I thought, mostly friendly and honest and not abusive or corrupt.good to see✌️❤️🇬🇧
Nigerian here. We were a British colony, so all education is pretty much in the English language. Most people in the rural areas that don't speak English fluently are able to understand but will respond in broken(pidgin it's called) english. So communication with any english speaking person isn't much of an issue

So true - We see the truth here. A TV production crew won't go where Noraly goes, and even if they did the producers would inject a predetermined narrative or ideology into the finished product. I have learned even here in the USA we have been misled by school textbooks and big media about other countries, cultures, and how people live and treat others.

Yes ,Nigeria is beautiful but we somehow don't get to explore it. The incessant security problems have put people off. I use to enjoy road travel across the nation but I'm so scared of doing so now. I remember the the story of Mr Bako I read as a child and I dreamt of doing so with my family taking holiday in Nigeria instead of traveling abroad. It's a big shame that the security challenge has killed tourism in Nigeria.

Itchy Boots said during her presentation at the ABR festival that her parents have come to realize over the years that she can handle herself 'pretty ok'. Time and again we have seen evidence of this throughout her travels, but maybe never more than in Season 7 in Africa. So many challenges faced and overcome. Although unexpected stuff can (and will) happen and things can go sideways in an instant, I think Noraly's experience, research, intuition, and demeanor truly maximize the chance of positive outcomes. Continued safe travels Noraly and congrats on 2 million subs (should happen in the next few days) ! So well deserved!

Firstly, I'm in awe of your bravery and courage riding solo through Nigeria.
Secondly, thank you so much for allowing me to experience Nigeria through the lens of your camera. When I watch your interactions with Nigerians, I get a sense that my biases influence how I feel about the country and that my dim view of the people is unjustified. Thank you for helping me understand that Nigerians are still by and large a pleasant people despite the many hardships that they live through everyday.

You actually picked the perfect time to visit Nigeria, the insecurity has drastically reduced but the checkpoints most of which as you saw where made by locals to protect their communities are still there as a sign of how bad it used to be in rural regions of our country, it was nice having you pass through... Do visit again sometime in the future and hopefully you'll see a much more welcoming Nigeria with less checkpoints

This is my favorite episode from Nigeria! I really enjoyed the interaction with the ladies at the market, and with a few of the guards along the way, especially the one with the chicken. Beautiful views and you seemed more upbeat and rested after spending time in Abuja. I'm glad it was a less-hectic capital and you were able to get your visa to Cameroon. @@Cr8mind it a very very dangerous country m. Those roadblocks could lead to disaster in a flash. Just say the wrong thing or they don’t like the look of you. You end up in a Nigerian prison in a blink of an eye.
Just like they lied to us that they met our ancestors in the jungle...we were kings and queens when they came to explore Africans and after realizing how blessed we are,they turn around to enslave us...

If you want to see that in a more secure way, just come see the midlands of KZN in south africa, its looks just like that, but there is no checkpoints. Also the midlands is the centre of the Zulu culture in SA, so the roads are well maintained unlike the rest of SA, or africa for that matter.

As a Nigerian American, it's so fascinating to see a white person (let alone a woman) just travel through Nigeria so casually. I've been told by my folks that it can be dangerous, especially if the locals catch wind that you are from the west/a foreigner.
I admire your ambition, courage, and respect you have for Nigeria and the rest of these African countries you travel through.

You helped me with other UA-cam adventurers. I had never been claustrophobic before in previous MRIs, but now I felt stuck. As things became difficult to stay in the small space, I was able to just imagine my favorite UA-cam adventurers traveling in an open world. I would just close my eyes and imagine riding along through all the places they had been. It helped me so much and I was able to get through the procedure thinking of all the freedom of traveling under an open sky. Thank you for taking us along so many journeys.

Had to do a little research. I didn't know that Abuja was the capital of Nigeria. Until I watched your videos I'd never heard of it. Abuja is a planned city, hence the order and cleanliness of it. Built only in the 1980s. Nigeria moved its capital from Lagos to Abuja, a more centralized location, to honor and respect all the different tribes, cultures, and religions in the country. On the outskirts is Aso Rock, a large monolith. You can see it briefly off in the distance as Noraly leaves the city at 2:44. Nice to see the beautiful countryside and mountains in eastern Nigeria. I hear there is a lot of political unrest in Cameroon. Keep safe!!!!

Me too I was watching this video with a friend from Nigeria. When Noraly said "capital" I was like HUH? To which he confirmed Lagos was not the capital (not anymore). That was news to me.

Abuja never existed when I lived in Nigeria in the 1950s, the capital was Lagos which is still the main commercial centre and seaport.

I think Nigeria os generally friendly to foreigners. This is good and impressive. Officers were friendly, citizens were friendly, women selling stuffs like banana, psm attendant, motel attendants all were friendly.

At home while I was sitting at coach I felt how nervous is Noraly all the time in Nigeria.

@@sroberts605 my memories are good ones and am so glad I did it. Very helpful and friendly, welcoming, people. Fantastic cycle lanes everywhere, especially remember cycling an 18 mile long dam with the sea on one side of me and the coast on the other, and hundreds (seemed like) of swans.
