    Thank you so much for your honesty. I only "found" you a few weeks and am so pleased l did. After 25 years of fairly intense spiritual searching and many main stream teachers, you seem so genuine and pure.

    “You’re distracting people from the pure path”, said by the people of the organisation that changed the way the teach advanced techniques, distancing them from the original teachings…

    Islamic daily prayers are exactly what you sir are talking about. We repeat a couple of short verses from the Holy Quran, As Muslims we are obligated to meditate(pray) 5 times a day each time taking about 5 minutes and there's absolutely no SKIPPING. Now after 6 years of daily meditation the way you are explaining it, I get to the blissful state as soon as I say the first word, it's amazing and I feel like I'm being directed. I feel like my subconscious mind is busy with repeating the words and I(conscience mind) am "feeling" myself which makes me cry sometimes. behind my neck area always shakes, sometimes strongly! I don't know why! Does anyone have the same experience?

      Feelings of shaking and vibration can occur, but not to everyone. Different spiritual teachings describe the in different terms. I suggest just being aware of them when they occur. Not resisting them, or wondering wha causes them.

    Thank you. Really helpful and I guess even tm takes a lot of practice. Or do you think practice has nothing to do with it, and that it should be effortless right from the beginning ?

    • @peter-russell
      @peter-russell  2 роки тому +2

      TM doesn't need a lot of practice to "get it". Some get it at first try. Others may need more coaching to let it be completely effortless. We are so conditioned to try harder, it be difficult for people to take the opposite approach with meditation

    Ah, now all of your other videos make sense .
    without going into the possible motivation for this video , i will get to the point with , oaths to spiritual teachers or what ever the Maharishi is is to you encompass not only the specifics and mechanics of the teaching involving mantras and their use but also the organization that was created to disseminate the procedure/ technique .
    i'm also a teacher of Tm from the early seventies and at no time did i adore the organizational side of it but i did tow the party line because of my promise to Maharishi . i am a firm believer that these organizations eventually implode when the living example of that which is awake to itself leaves their physical body.
    this is inevitable . i'm a rebel at heart and i did get into some scuffles with a few big headed power types but did or said nothing against the bureaucracy as i felt the technique was too valuable to go astray to the extent that the effectiveness would be lost sooner than later . also i have never found another meditation that could claim there system had the ability to transcend its own activity , so necessary in establishing effortlessness .
    BTY were you tossed out at the six month course in Arosa Switzerland ?

      I'm glad this video answers some of your earlier comments, and gives you a better idea of where I stand in regard to TM. It is, in my opinion, the most direct path, and MMY's teachings are profound. No I wasn't tossed out of Arosa. But it was around that time that some in the UK began to question my fidelity. I had been on the board of SRM in UK, and had run SIMS, so it was a big deal to them. It was hard balancing my high regard for TM with my own integrity.

    • @siriosstar4789
      @siriosstar4789 6 місяців тому

      i read an article you wrote giving more detail as to why you were asked to leave the organization .
      it seems pretty straight forward based on that info .
      the Maharishi wanted to switch his message from the spiritual bent to one that a western mind might see as more palatable .
      Charlie Lutes went through something similar , being the head of the SRM . I also was more drawn to spiritual vernacular but it wasn't a deal breaker for me because maharishi confided in us that it was a spiritual practice in its depths but if we wanted to reach greater numbers in the west then we were to change the wording to suit the circumstances . it wasn't the wording anyway that mattered but the realization of that which is awake to itself as the dominate identity . the wording or message was only important to those that needed an intellectual reason to begin the practice . he told us the people will realize who and what they are regardless of the wording describing the practice .
      however, in the selling of any product or teaching , consistency in messaging becomes paramount for increasing sales .😂 Maharishi decided on a new message/ wording and because we were employees ,we were expected to follow the rules of the company .
      if that was a problem for some then they went out on their own . the organization may have done you a favor so you could speak in a way that was more in tune with what you felt , so it seems to have all worked out for the best .🙏

    I'd also offer that Transcendental Meditation is not a technique as it's often portrayed. Transcendence is a state or experience that is entered into by meditation techniques such as, mantra, breath or loving kindness meditation.
    So it's impossible to learn transcendence, you can learn a technique whereby you can enter the state of transcendence.
    I mean it makes for a catchy abbreviation but it's fundamentally incorrect to call it something that it's not.

    TM is wonderful, shame it gets a bad rap. But just like your experience, they turn people away with the way they are

    Glad i found this video Mr Peter🙌🏻
    I learned the TM meditation from a certified teacher but i’ve always had some doubt whether i’m doing the technique correctly.
    Is the mantra repeated to prevent from falling asleep, therefore someone enters the state between being awake and asleep (like the yoga nidra)
    Or the mantra is given to be repeated therefore the mind concentrate on it effortlessly in order to transcend?

    • @peter-russell
      @peter-russell  Рік тому

      In TM there is no attempt to concentrate on the mantra. That would keep the mind active. Nor should it be a steady repetition. The instruction is to be aware of it like you would be aware of some that was thought passing through the mind. Don't try to hold on to it. If it becomes vague or changes let it. The idea is for it to be completely without effort or trying .

    Thanks Peter I quite forgot to allow my mantra to soften an just let be there...or not. My teacher encouraged me to contact him with questions when they arose but I never have mostly because I didn't have any. I always assume I know everything. lol Thanks again. Very helpful.

    I learnt TM a year ago, the teacher told me that if I fell asleep during meditation that this is considered a meditative state, and that you're dipping into the well of transcendental consciousness.
    If you have any thoughts on this I'd be interested to hear what you have to say.

    • @peter-russell
      @peter-russell  2 роки тому +3

      I don't see it that way. There may (or may not) be truth in the fact that when you are in deep, non-dreaming, sleep at night you are in dipping into transcendental consciousness, But I wouldn't apply that to falling asleep in meditation, which is usually the result of fatigue, and you would likely fall sleep just sitting and relaxing, without meditating.

    • @dwainbryan6037
      @dwainbryan6037 2 роки тому +1

      @@peter-russell I was also told you can "meditate" while lying on your back in bed, again you'll just fall asleep.
      It's as if TM is for people who find so called regular meditation too difficult, It comes across as a way to sell meditation to people who wouldn't otherwise do it.
      Personally, I think mantra based meditation is very effective but I hesitate to recommend The TM system due to all the baggage that comes with it and I can't explain to people why it's so expensive, the reason I was given was extremely flimsy.
      Thanks for the videos anyway.

      @@MrMaximino92 if you learned TM you know it's not possible to go back and relearn, only to go back to your teacher and clarify, in the TM org your teacher is your teacher for life.
      Maybe if your teacher was publicly cast out they might suggest this insidious heretic was misleading people and you did not receive TM, come back and we shall correct this, but I doubt it

    Can I use my own Mantra? Seems expensive to get one from the TM cult.

    • @peter-russell
      @peter-russell  2 роки тому +4

      I agree they charge a lot for TM instruction these days. But the instruction is more important than the mantra. It's a delicate technique that requires supervision over a period of days at the start. If you choose your own mantra you may not use one that encourages the mind to settle down. You probably would not be using it in the TM way either. Look around and you may find people giving TM instruction outside of the movement, and less expensive.
