- A Brief History of LEGO Ship Building - Part III
A brief history of LEGO shipbuilding is a series of videos that will tell the story of how I created two of my largest builds. An aircraft carrier and a small merchant ship. In those videos you will witness the stages that led to the final ship designs, as well as speed builds of the two ships and of course an Epic Test in the mountains... no, wait... in the water...
In the third part of the series you will witness how I balance and seal my LEGO RC merchant ship, as well as a test run in the sea.
Merchant ship V1.0 specs :
Power : 2x LEGO XL motors
Steering : 1x LEGO servo motor
Control : 1x BuWizz
Remote controller : An old Nexus 5X :)
Footage was shot on DJI Mavic Mini, LG G6 and Apeman A77 action camera.
Follow me on Twitter or Instagram for sneak peeks on upcoming projects at Epic LEGO. - Наука та технологія
7 minutes of my life not wasted , good job
That is so good to hear! Thank you!
where the other 6 second?
😆
And 6 seconds
and the old nexus 5 was a good skin job
Great MOC, lots of details and works perfectly. The video editing was very good too. Good job.
Thank you so much!

It's really working on the sea~ Amazing~
That's really cool! I loved the solution you came up with to make it float. I'll try to use it in of of my MOCs too! Keep up the great work. Cheers!
Thanks! I hope you build Epic ships!
Really nice Merchant Ship. It functions really smoothly, and almost glides across the water. It looks really good! The drone shots are really good for this type of video! The scenery is also beautiful!
Thanks man! I really appreciate your feedback!
It's really nice to finally see someone doing lego boat tests that realizes weight distribution matters, every time you can tell if any lego moc would stay upright just by how it looks before hand.
Weight balance is everything and, when done right, it gives you a very realistic feel when controlling a boat.
This is incredible! Absolutely fantastic! I love it.
Thank you!
Seeing this little ship cruise around on the lake is sooo relaxing. 😌 I've really enjoyed this!
I'm glad you liked it Andreas (we share the same name). You'll probably like my landing craft video as well! It was shot in the same lagoon!
Man I love the vid and how you just wrapped the center in plastic dude i was going to carve out a log to make a hull thxs man hope you get all the subs you deserve
Thanks! I hope it helps you build cool ships!
Your an amazing observation for me thank you I just got a bunch of robot LEGO parts ima try to do what you did
I hope you succeed and build epic stuff!
What a beautiful scenery, Amazing video!!
Thank you so much! I'm glad you enjoyed it!
This channel deserves its name cause I’ve never seen a Lego boat actually float before!
Thank you so much! I've got even more epic projects for the future!
I like the anchor you made, very smart use of the fishing weight
Thanks! I was quite lucky with the shape of that weight. Fitted quite nicely on the anchor...
That's amazing!
Thank you!
I wonder if u could just insert a bunch of air pouches that you see in Amazon deliver box for floating.
You will never need to worry about water tight/splash overboard... etc. It will always afloat even against big waves.
(just need to do some water sealing on the motors)
I've built a few boats using styrofoam in their hull to make them float (my drone carrier is one of them). With ships that are narrow, however, I find it more difficult to balance them when using styrofoam because it's more difficult to have the center of gravity as low as possible. I've been thinking of ways to seal the hull however. I'd like to build a boat that can go up against big waves as you said, or rain. That would be cool...
@@brickandgear try using waterproof tape. A good channel is Brick Experiment Channel. He has made a few things
Idk why but these videos make me happy. Great content man!
That's my goal!
The video and the boat are fantastic !! 👍
Thank you so much! I hope you enjoy my future projects as well!
This very legendary!!!!
Thank you! That's the goal! Do epic stuff!
super, great job! really liked it!
Thanks!
Fantastic work. I like it!
Thank you!
This made me very happy thank you for making this

This is really great, subbed.
Thanks! You should check out my submarine as well!
Its amazing
this is EPIC!
Thanks!
This is amazing I love this.
Thanks!
Really incredible work! WELL DONE!
Thanks!
Why wasn't it recommended earlier?! This is an another proof that lego is out of this world. Amazing job. Really
Thank you! Hopefully I'll be uploading another Epic vessel video soon!
He’s the best at building Legos and that boat floats really good
Thank you so much!
I like this author! Nice to look at! Exciting content, I love this channel! I wish the author good luck! I will inform about this channel!
Thank you so much for your kind words! I hope you enjoy my future projects as well!
I love this

Awesome 👍
Thanks!
Awesome!!! 🖒👏
Thank you!
I LOVE it
Thanks!
Wow that’s really cool
Thanks!
This is so good
I'm glad you liked it!
Amazing and realistic sailing 5:21
Thanks!
Great MOC!
Thank you! I'm glad you like it!
I like builders like you ❤️
Thank you so much! :)
personally i would make these motors slower for the real effect but thats changes nothing on the fact that is : THIS SHIP IS MASTERPIECE
You are absolutely correct. Speed isn't everything. Being realistic is. Big ships should behave like big ships!
DANG! That looks awesome I just subscribed!
Thank you so much! I have another video of that ship coming up!
Ion
this build is awesome
Thanks!
nice one! Liked!
Thank you!
Nice idea
Thank you very much! Tomorrow I will probably upload my new video with a drone carrier boat! Stay tuned!
As a epicist i conform that this is epic
:D
Jees dude ur really coming out of the box
Trying my best!
I love the the design
On the ship
Thank you!
Came for the build, stayed for the background music. Midnight Special unless I miss my guess :D
You are not mistaken! Midnight Special during the build!
LOL this video is top 😁
Thank you!
I myself build RC scale models, but I like to see, what other modellers are building. A floating vessel built whith LEGO bricks. Well done! :-)
Wow. Reading a comment like that from someone who builds realistic RC models is really something! Thank you!
@@brickandgear You`re welcome :-)
Very nicely done.
Thank you! I've got two more ships on the way, but I won't be able to test them until the Covid lockdown is lifted... :(
its big so it floats and it is really really cool
Thanks! You should check out my landing craft as well! It can carry a crawler!
Nice job!
Thank you!
Nice vidéo
Nice ship
Thanks!
Woah. This is amazing.
Thank you so much!
Nice video 👏🏼👏🏼🔥
Thanks! You should check out my landing craft as well!

It's like a real ship is travelling through The great lakes
Beautiful sight, isn't it?
@@brickandgear yep

Άπαιχτος. Πολύ καλό
Ευχαριστώ!
damn is that ship in a storm look at the size of the waves lol
I know... Super harsh weather...
You are a master builder
Thank you! :)
Accurately epic.
Thanks!
This is amazing! How are you so good at building with legos with No instructions!?
Thank you so much! I got better with time. You should see the crap I built when I started! You should see the crap I build now sometimes...
Ok
cool boat!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i subbed!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks! (Just saw your comment)
и работа и съемка просто класс!!!
Thank you!
it would be epic a fire nation ship :3
It would. Difficult to balance though
Wow! nice MOC. 👍😀
Thanks!

Man this is rlly something I like it i want one now tho🤣
:)
Wow!
:)
Epic
😁
Wow bro I can never think to make this ship good job I want you to make a lego technic Titanic and sail it
Challenge accepted!
Super!!!!!!!!!! Top
Thank you!
i like the song after floating at sea
Thank you! I found it on UA-cam Studio free music database! Great music for videos!
Ok so two suggestions for your ship
1. Add a backup battery just in case
2. Add Water Pumps to get rid of water in the ship if there is any
3. Add bulk heads
I've already included your first suggestion in my next ship design! I'll build a larger vessel, with two BuWizz units. Both BuWizz will be connected with a powerbank for extra range!
A pump is a very interesting idea. I was thinking of using one in my next submarine, but I could include it in my ship as well. I'm going to need a few pneumatic stuff though...
Bulkheads could be used for rigidity, but creating different sealed compartments would be very difficult.
@@brickandgear cool XD
Nice view
Yeap!
Nice. Would like to see her bearing actual cargo like a proper merchant ship.
In the future, I'd like to build a bigger version and shoot a video of it being loaded with cargo using a crane and my old LEGO 9V train.
Cool
Thanks!
Good building!
Thanks!
WOW!
😁
😁😁😁
cool i have the compact crawler crane.
Very cool set!
My favorite part is the deck cams.
They give you a more realistic perspective, don't they?
4:38 i very enjoy this & what music is this is very peaceful :')
It's called "After all". I found it in UA-cam Creator Studio.
Polu kalh douleia! very good LEGO job !
Ευχαριστώ πολύ! Να τελειώσουμε επιτέλους με τα lockdown και θα έρθουν κι άλλα πλοία!
cool
Thanks!
I like this vidio👍
Thanks!
HEY THAT IS COOL
Thank you!
3:20 floats well
Question: how did you keep water from leaking through the axle shaft housing? Also, I noticed you switched out the propulsion to two propellers spinning with more torque, good choice!
Hello! At around 2:00 the transmission is visible. There is no axle shaft housing going through the hull, but a set of gears and 90 degree transmissions going over the watertight hull that spin the propellers. I had to use an axle shaft housing that goes through the hull in my submarine though. You can check out how I made it watertight here : ua-cam.com/video/GnIkZVMngyw/v-deo.html
It is not a permanent solution though. It leaks water after some uses.
@@brickandgear That's good to know, thank you!
this should be viral
Thank you so much! It's already my top video!
New sub
Thank you so much!
The background is very nice
I'm glad your like it!
No-one can make it good than you it so good but... I need to know how to build it ;)
Did anyone else notice that when he is balancing the ship, the song “Midnight Special” plays in the background?
😁
@@brickandgear I love that song and CCR thats how I noticed haha
Now I need to find a royalty free version of "Fortunate son" to use on my next landing craft video...
@@brickandgear And when you find it I’ll be sure to comment about it😁
Wow
:)
Thats ship-tastic bro
Thanks!
Can the rudder works? I dunno
It works great! I placed them right behind the propellers, so they they are more effective!
How can it balance?
1.2kg of fishing weights at the bottom of the hull.
richig coool
Thanks!
