I'm just amazed to see the most realistically street-able sport bike came from Suzuki of all companies. There might actually be some innovation inside those conference rooms
Greece gets Black, Silver and Blue.
Now I'm not surprised since yellow is Taxi color here and noone buys a yellow car and that translates to bikes as well.
I have to say that although I love black on bikes and my XSR is black, I wouldn't touch that color on this one, all 3 others make it pop, black does not.
Even though black always works in one way or another, it's not optimal here.
I'm a one man protest to get Suzuki UK to bring a Yellow one to the UK for me! Can't believe the rest of the world get more colour options!
Not really, US doesn't get the black one. Europe gets black instead of yellow. Idk why, but its more either or

Nice review, I was waiting for this. I bought one! Looks so much better in person & is just what I was looking for. Crescent Suzuki also really took care of me. I've added the Suzuki (made by Gilles) adjustable leavers, Evotech radiator guard, Powerbronze tail tidy, & a full Akrapovic system. Really pleased with it.

To be fair, I'm usually pretty shouty as on-the-bike audio recording makes it a requirement. Appreciate it though!

I just took delivery on one a few days ago. One sweet machine! I think Dan was very accurate in his review. Another big plus for me, it is built in Japan.

Mmmh. This or the new Triumph Daytona 660 ….. my heart wants to stay with Triumph but,…. But ? … Maybe I will wait until you ride on the Daytona. Great video and yes…. I’m no track day god. 😂
The biggest thing that puts me off the 8r is its small service intervals, otherwise it is a great package.
Not sure I'll get to borrow the Daytona. Triumph have gone a bit weird on me.
The Daytona delivers 90bhp if you can stand revving the bike to 12,000 rpm but 9Nm less torque and then higher in the revs so it will feel less punchy than the 8R Also it looks a bit stayed to me and the dash is plain cheap. But folk will rant about the HP!
@@milodebruin4821 No, the maintenance is the same as chrz Honda, I just bought it, it's 1000 km for the first, and then 12,000 km, 24,000 etc... It's written in the maintenance book with 5 year warranty and unlimited mileage.

Always a pleasure to watch your reviews. GSX 8R is going to be in India soon. I was hoping you would respond to my query. I am a retro bike and an adventure bike rider (a Honda CB350, not in UK and a Tiger 850 Sports). I wish to add a sports bike to the garage but I am not inclined towards a more committed posture, a little easy going on the wrists. Do you think this could be a one time purchase for a few years to come, just to enjoy the flavour of sports bike?
That's a nice-looking bike. Currently saving the pennies to upgrade the Gladius to an 8S but this could be a better upgrade by the sounds of it.
Definitely test one, I thought it was outstanding and I love naked bikes.
Excellent review! I'm thinking about letting go of my 2023 Ninja 650 KTR ed, do you think I'd regret it (30" inseam and so the Ninja is obviously very accommodating)? I had the chance to test ride the 8R at a Suzuki DEMO and absolutely loved it. Too many choices nowadays....
Was this bike comfortable enough to go touring on it? The vstrom 800 re has the same engine with a larger gas tank, windshield, and a rear rack but it also weighs 40 lbs more.
Keep an eye out on my channel, as I have a big tour coming up on this bike in May.
The stock tires are Dunlop Road sport 2, right?

Im so impressed with Suzuki now. I've always had a soft spot for them but now they are killing it with their offerings. This is the best looking stacked headlight designs ever. I love it and the whole package sounds and feels like an absolute home run. I typically would go for the the naked variant but this is so attractive. I agree with the gentleman below this comment and wish theyd bring the yellow variant but to Germany.
It's definitely the bike to get in this class I think. I can't wait to take it on our tour in May.
@@Englishbikerdan The Honda is cool too but sadly leaves a little to be desired. Im glad Suzuki is the better bike overall. Stunning footage by the way.
Another nice and honest bike from Suzuki. I do like their non pretentious approach. I mean in all honesty, this could be called GSX-8GT, but R just sounds better...

@@Englishbikerdan I have to agree Dan. Plus it's a lot less expensive, at least in the US. I think the engine is more playful as well. And it's made in Japan.

I have noticed that several bike manufacturers are reducing petrol tank capacities. Is this because engines are becoming more fuel efficient or is it to reduce the disparity between ICE bikes and electric bikes ? Has anyone else had similar thoughts ?
Funny thing is my old 2004 Hornet had a 17 litre tank. I'd be lucky to get 150 miles out of it. Now a 15 litre tank can get you 200 miles. That's progress.
How can Triumph get away with a 9 litre tank on the Bobber? A lot of other bikes are 12 or 13 litres too. I think the fact that motorcycle weights are quoted wet now might be one factor.
Hmm, the Suzuki looks like a great package… but this segment is hotting up nicely with the Yamaha R7, Aprilia RS660 and Triumph Daytona 660 also on the way. Head and wallet say go Japanese but styling wise the RS660 and Daytona are streets ahead.
The Suzuki is a softer, more comfortable option. The RS660 is my favourite in terms of outright performance, but it has compromises. On balance, I think the 8R would be my pick for a sporty all day bike.
Going to buy one of these bueaties this weekend . Dont know if your veiwers know this but suzuki uk are offering 7 year or 70000 mile warranty on suzukis .so long as you have it serviced at the main dealers this was what swayed me 😊

Would you honestly suggest this bike to a new rider? I've been told that it's too much bike for someone new but I REALLY want it.
Ok. I'll bite. Yes, this bike has throttle modes and many might say you would be ok if you left it in throttle mode C until you got used to it. It also has very good brakes, that could be touchy for the beginner. But the bike has 3 levels of traction control along with ABS. Some have started on one liter bikes and lived. It is a quick bike and 0-60 mph times reflect that. A new rider could get in trouble quickly. I think generally speaking, this isn't a beginner bike. All that said, the answer relies on you. Learning all the right things first is paramount. Your age and maturity level is important. You are looking at a tall mountain. It can be done but only you can honestly answer that. Your well being depends on you, not the bike.
Rumour has it the Hornet you have/had on loan has problems with a tracker killing the battery. Can you tell us what type of tracker it is? 'cos I don't want to buy it
To be fair, any tracker that connects to the battery will drain it, especially over winter.
Not enough power to be fun when i tour from Denmark to Germany and race (for fun) on the nürburgring
20 or maybe 30 more horsepower and i would have bought it on the spot.
For now my K1200R has no replacement :)
Plenty of bike for having a blast on twisty public roads for most skillelevels anyway! Tried the GSX8 and the new Honda hornet.
Suzuki had the best fit and feel, honda the best engine for sure, both rode really well.

Suzuki need to produce this bike in a 300-500cc guise. I personally need more than a 125cc but do not require 800cc. Suzuki have nothing in between their 125 to 650cc range in The UK. If this was a GSX 4R, I'd be buying it tomorrow.

i met people that went down on a 13hp scooter when accelerating on wet tarmac...so neither of my bikes have tc or abs but why not if is so cheap and available these days?!

Bikes aren't toys for everyone. It's my only form of transport. So 8k is cheap compared to the cost of a new car.
Like the vast majority of modern cars, it just looks utterly forgetful. Thank god for the Italians.
