So thrilled to be able to watch video on a full restoration of an SSP. I've been watching and learning about SSPs when picked up my '93 CHP in 2008. I was disappointed to not have holes in the dash/center console, roof, A-pillars, trunk, etc. Beyond the buck tags, the only other physical CHP ID was that I can see the black and white paint under two other colors. I did all the research I could on my car. Even talked to the CHP field office it was purchased for, but all lead to dead ends. I wish mine had the seat reinforcement. Soon after purchasing it, rolling onto the freeway, upon upshifting into 3rd, my seat rocked back unexpectedly! Whoa Nelly! Not fun.
Whoa! Crazy crazy story on the seat, man I'm glad nothing bad happened there. My FHP is much the same as your CHP as far as most SSP stuff gone. Yeah this is going to be a fun build.
You should try to contact the North Carolina Police "Radio Shop" for lack of a better term. The police department usually has a dedicated division that does all of the car equipment installation (Radios, sirens etc.) A lot of times there is still an "old timer" working there and if not the guys who work there know the retired old timer. These are they guys that can tell you ALL of the equipment and how and where it was installed.
This is vid has some good info . Say I buy a foxbody in pieces is there a manual that shows you how to put it back together the right way. Like how Matt does it . .
Not that I know of for sure, but i've heard rumors of them existing in book format. Hopefully one day you can find everything on how to do that on my channel, but it's going to take sometime.
If I had a way to shoot you a picture, I’d show you what my Idaho’86 ssp wheels look like. I have a full spare + 4 -15 x 7 steel wheels. They also have the ctr caps & chrome round outer trim rings. I think they are fairly rare. I also Have the b pillar hoop bar. Original seats rough, but I still have them. My’86 is original single key
HI, thanks for checking out the video and sharing your build as well. I have several social media platforms in the description of my videos, so if you want to share a picture feel free to tag me on any of those platforms.
That may be true (although completely stock Foxbodys seem to sell for more), but Matt is restoring it that way because of how much he loves the car, not for any monetary value.
Is there some kind of block on the fire wall that you can plug about 4 to 8 plugins on /on the engine side ?..I have this block and I have no idea why it's there...my car is not near me at the moment so I cant explain it better..but it's an 85 hatch

Here's a shot of Matt's 85 T-Top engine bay, it's a carbureted car ua-cam.com/video/Xsj6byCSFAo/v-deo.html it seems to have what you are describing. You can use it to compare anyway. I know the automatic 85's got CFI.
I’m curious on the rims. My 87 4cyl lx car seems to have the same wheels that Matt showed just with hub caps on them. Has the squares for center caps too. What makes the SSP ones different then 4cyl steel wheels?

I was wondering why there is a computer and so much extra wiring and I had 2 fuel pumps in my car..1985...my fuel gauge never worked because the 2 fuel pumps crossed each other..it works now and has 1 fuel pump
Two fuel pumps, wow that's interesting, but yeah I am also learning how much the computer was involved in the 85's. Pretty cool to learn. Anyway, I"m glad you got it working with the one fuel pump now.
Oh man that sucks about his crack block I’m telling you it’s always something dealing with these foxbodys not to mention he wants to keep it all original
Yeah, definitely always something to deal with, but the good news is he's got some other blocks he can use and the big thing is that the car itself looks to be in great shape for the restoration.

I like the idea of Matt clear coating the build sheet on the floor. I'm sure he will also take a picture of it & print it out. Cool car!
I think that's the plan, and agree that will be really cool.

Hah hah and hear I was hoping it wasn't too long, but at lest we gave you almost 30 minutes this time 😁
Pretty cool learning about the ssp specific parts
