I just love the 4 headlights and the fog lights on those are awesome and I have always loved the console with the sillohette of the car and the lights got the headlights and taillights and I think low fuel ⛽️ on it and the round bezels and tachometer and orange 🍊 lights were just the best thing I have ever seen and love those cars then you go under the hood and see that air cleaner with the 5.0 HO high output and the factory cold air dryer vents that’s just a piece of heaven
Congratulations to Matt on the 85 SSP it's going to be a super cool project. I love 4 Eyes, I have 5, and just 1 Aero (a 89 convertible just like yours). Four Eye Fox Bodies are like the last real "old school" mustangs with their carburated engines. You can do all the old school mods to these cars and make them as fast as the classics. It will be a lot of fun watching this car being restored!

A friend of mine had one of the fastest Mustangs in my hometown it was a 85 GT. He changed the heads and put a set of shaved 289 heads and did some carb work. He wrecked in a ditch and bent the whole front nose down in front of the wheels, from then on we all called it the Concord , that thing would fly!

My brother bought a 1985 GT new. Black with grey interior, 5 speed and T-tops. It was super quick for its time. TAs and Z28s were no match for it. He sold it 4 years later to purchase a truck he needed for his job. To this day he regrets it.
Good find Matt went on the trailer pretty close to the driver side! I was whoa I want those valve covers Matt no just kidding I am going to get u to let go of something lol!! I have a set of metal Moroso valve covers on my motor! I think I am going to use my stock valve covers u use ur stock valve covers on ur motor didn't u ! Didn't have any problems with the baffle inside the valve cover hitting!! Gfunk had to take the baffle out of the valve cover in grind material out for them to fit!! I want to use my stock valve covers to but I don't want to take the baffle out I don't think I will have any problems with them to clear on my setup u didn't have any problems with urs did u?? Truck sounds mean love that cam man!! Until next time buddy
Hey James! Hah hah, yeah several people mentioned how close it was on the drivers side! LOL. I did use the stock valve covers on both the old 331 and y 306, but I removed the baffle on both to clear my rockers. However, I was able to simply unbolt my baffle. I'm not sure why GFunk's didn't unbolt, but maybe I got lucky. Thanks man, you know I love the truck.

all the carbureted cars in 85 had flat tappet cams though......only the fuel injected cars got a roller cam and lifters OR wuz it the automatic tranny cars got the flat tappet 302...and the manuals got roller cams...... can any one clarify this? i forgot more stuff about mustangs then most even know ...lol.....i got my 85 t top ....thinking bout selling my 90 GT and both my 86 and 88 coupes just so i can finish my 85 t top.....all three of those need restoration though....yet another wicked ssp find .....congrats

@@GearHead704 and all autos got flat tappet ......my 85 has a 85 auto and flat tappet engine but acording to the vin it should have had a HO. 5 spd stock..but im getting old and like the cruisabilty of a auto vs a manual trans these days so i will keep the auto in the cruiser..... ;)
There was no F engine code in 1984 Mustang (or Capri). Last year for the F code engine was 1983. All 1984-86 5.0L Capri/Mustang engine codes, both the CFI/AOD and the 4V/T-5 combos, were M.
Any videos of the other 85s ? I have a black with red 85 notch 37k miles. Zero rust original paint. Not perfect but very nice. Original 4 cylinder now 347 6 speed.

I'm curious about the price also? I'm going to guess about $3500 -4500 dollars. But it is a ssp,so possibly $5,500 or so. If I was purchasing the car I'd pay $ 4000.00 dollars. That's what it would be worth to me,just my opinion of course.

For what people have contributed to the list, it shows that VIN 1FABP26M6FF234651 thru 1FABP26M8FF234716 were all ordered by the FHP. That is a count of 66 cars. Only ONE, 9FF234708, has been confirmed as unit #1422. Excited to see if that new car revels a unit number! What is Matt's car's VIN? Does it fall within that known group?
This one that Matt has in a NCSHP and it too is in the list of 1985 SSP VINs at SpecialServiceMustang.net. (The NCSHPs are just a little below the list of FHPs.) The NCSHPs are in a group of 37 consecutive P28M VINs. There are four or five (so far) known survived NCSHPs in that group. Matt's car is the first one of the four.

FHPs rare? I don't think so. I'm involved in the SSP community and it's said that Florida purchased something like 1660 SSP mustangs.
He was specifically talking about the 85 FHP model. To Matt's knowledge there are only 3 but he'd be happy to know he is wrong and there's a lot more
