Shellmet and Karrablast could evolve using a DNA Splicers/N-Solarizer/Reins of Unity type of item. By having both on your party, you link them with said item and they evolve, without chance of reverting back, of course. But yeah, I think we're done with trade evolutions, and that's a good thing since nowadays you need a paid online subscription in order to do so
I for one think that trade evolutions will continue to be a thing, but I think it should be optional for the player to use it to get the specific Pokémon. Like with legends Arceus, and possibly by extension ZA, the way you used the items for certain trade evolutions like Electivire was fantastic and easy for lone wolves. The link cord was also a great addition that I’m baffled at why they didn’t have it in scarlet and violet. I would love to see them incorporate new ways to get trade evolution Pokémon to their final form without needing two players. Especially if you’re like me whose only way to get certain trade evolutions in Pokémon was by having his sister help out. Now I know the two of us have Wi-Fi connections to do it still today, but you can’t always expect them to be ready at a moment’s notice. Everyone’s got a life to live, and trying to line things up can be a pain if you want to progress the main story before a certain time.
I'm absolutely fine with them staying if we have alternatives, but I do feel like they will not be introducing new ones. I might be wrong, but even the Alolan Graveler one feels like a simply homage to the OG evolution method. We've got so many different evo methods (Runerigus, for example) on the last few games, but none were trade related!
@@notsoAceTrainer Agreed, If they stop with them that's fine with me, makes it a lot easier to get the good Pokémon. I just hope they can do something with the older trade evolutions. Gigalith is my favorite rock type Pokémon, and arguably my favorite gen 5 Pokémon, and I'd like an easier way to get it if we get some kind of gen 5 remake or whatever in the near or distant future. With my sister moved out of my hometown, and no idea when the two of us could hook up via wi-fi, it makes getting my favorite rock type really difficult if they kept the same evolution method from the og gen 5 games.
Yes you did, but at the same time, I was hinting at something more creative like: ●The Protector Item giving the ability to block Critical Hits. ●The Reaper Cloth can allow Ghosts and Normals to damage each other. These are just a couple of ideas. Maybe you can make another video on what new effects the Trade Items should get to stay in existence should Trade Evolution become fully obsolete.
Then end version exclusives, as well and have one version of the gen only. The IP was founded on trading. Only PL breaks this as it's just one version. It can't trade with another version.
The IP was indeed founded on trading... almost 30 years ago. Trading was a special thing for the GBC/GBA lifetime. You met up with your friends and traded Pokémon while chatting about the whole thing. Even in the DS era I used to trade with people all over the world while using the voice chat within the game to communicate in broken english with them. Now it is just not special anymore. You quickly trade and it's done. People even setup links for specific version exclusive tradebacks and you just go there and spam it until you get what you want. Pokémon evolved tremendously since 1996. This would be just another step.
@notsoAceTrainer I don't trade online, I just trade between my versions, so trading has always felt the same as it always had. Yes, I'm old enough to own the OG Red version (with access to yellow), along with OG Gold and Silver, which I made use of trading starters, until I learned how to use the PC box glitch to get all 3 in one copy. Link cable items in the main game would allow people with access to one version to get the trade evos. Palfin is probably the worst offender when it comes to needing friends. It wasn't easy using 2 switches to watch one Palfin battle to evolve it, I'd change that to the Super Cape item and defeat ten Pokemon without fainting.
Split evolutions I don't see happening. I do believe there's another monster taming that was still in Beta (or alpha) that did something like this. If I ever remember the name I'll let you know and you might feel like trying it out!
@@lucarionite452 we see pokemon like burny have split evolution based on gender. if that can happen for basic pokemon it can happen for starter pokemon and make them mainly female even
@@circledude2362 bro there is a difference between starter pokemon and a regionally bug starter pokemons main thing is being starter pokemon they obviously wont get gender evolutions as 6 starters are just absurd
I for one would welcome the idea of certain Pokémon getting the linking cord treatment or being downgraded to using an evolution stone. The ONLY thing stopping Alolan Golem from being a thunder stone evolution is literally the fact that it's a Golem, who's Kanto variant must be traded to evolve. Half of the trade evolution held items don't actually need the 'electrical stimulation' from the trading process anyway. Magmariser is a box containing lava that Magmar absorbs the lava to evolve, so is a consumable, Electirizer being the same for Electabuzz. The protector item is literally just a stone carved Assault vest, so Rhydon could just wear it to evolve. The only electromagnetically bonded trade evo item is metal coat, for Scizor and Steelix but there's no reason they couldn't make it so that using that item on a Pokémon in a certain location does the evo, like in a power plant for example, plenty of electrical stimulus surrounding your Pokémon there.
The reason I suggested thunder stone for evolving an Alolan Graveler into Alolan Golem was simply what it's Pokédex entries mention about it; having a fondness for electrically charged ores, eating them particularly. Thunder Stone evolution fits perfectly with the biology of the Pokémon yet isn't a thing YET.😅
I would also have loved if they played on the magnetism aspect of the regional form and let it evolve near Vast Poni Canyon in Gen7. They could then rework it like they did with other species!
I got denied Machamp and Gengar in my Crystal playthrough when I was a kid all because I had no one to be able to trade with. This evolution method has got to go away.
I think trade evos will continue to be a thing, but an option should be given to the player to get them solo. However something needs to be present to still incentivize trading, perhaps moves that they learn exclusively through evolving via trade
@@notsoAceTrainer imho, it's time to let the old trade evolutions become level up evolutions. As well as letting Slowking evolve FROM Slowbro. i do not understand why it wasn't that way from the start.
I think they should make it so Pokèmon with Trade Evolutions can either be traded to evolve OR use an item like the "linking cable" from Legends Arceus. I really just wanna use an Alakazam or Escavalier on my main playthrough
@@notsoAceTrainer It'd allow the "purists" to still evolve via trading and allow people who only really want to trade for version exclusives (me) to use the likes of Gengar,Alakazam,Electrivire,Gigalith and so on in a main playthrough
Trading itself will remain for future games to motivate players to trade with each other. Trade evolutions however hasn't happen in a while and a lot of previous trade evolutions are found in raids. Linking Cord in PLA made sense since it is a single player game that requires the player to catch every pokemon to encounter Arceus. So while trading itself won't go away, i think trade evolutions is likely a thing of the past.
With all the strange evo methods we got recently, and with none of them being trade related, it does seem like they don't plan on bringing anything like that!
I think they should still incorporate them, but make it optional. Like in PLA. You can evolve pokemon with items like the link cable found in space time distortions, but still have the option to trade them to evolve (I think)
Love your videos! I think trade evolutions are outdated as well! But I think it's fine to keep as long as they have Legend Arceus' Link Cable. Typically I like having my own pokemon anyways, so then I have to double trade just to get it back.
@@notsoAceTrainer Honestly! I also think that just having Karrablast and Shelmet fight each other in a time distrotion or a certain place where their dna could be mixed because that's honestly the main reason they evolve by basically merging DNA when being traded. So I feel like the Time distortion could be close enough, but that opens another can of worms on why other pokemon don't. So that's my thoughts.
Pokemon legends evolution should be the way they go. You can evolve with items or using moves or something. That's way better than goin on a discord and trusting a random individual. I want it to go. Along with two versions of the same game. They could put that effirt into one game. Put whatever pikemon in game and connect it to home for transfer pokemon. If they keep two versions they will keep trading. The first few games were ok with trading using cables when i was young. Now i want to get everything with my OT. They should go the legends route for evolution with all games goin forward. It avoid trading and gettin hacked pokemon also
I think 2 versions can be fine, but at the same time, I feel like version exclusives are a bit outdated. It's a double edged sword... I don't think the effort is that divided, or that it would change a lot of the final product though!
