The rear end makes quite a good ramp actually. You should definitely try riding straight onto the roof with a bunny hop to get you on the rear deck.

Pro tip: Don't forget to take the bike off the roof before you park the car in the garage! ;)
And don't forget to put on the parking brake!

I have the roof transport system on my 911 in south Florida and really appreciate your tips. I was planning on driving around with skis on the roof, but thanks to your advice about being season aware I'm going to put a kayak on instead!
I wanted 4 babies up there, but thanks for clarifying. 3 babies is the maximum load
If they offer a cargo basket option, you could put a 6" lift, and some bigger wheels and all terrain tires on it to make it look like a Paris to Dakar 959. Just a thought.

Pro tip Nick ;) change side of the bikerack so you can reach the "tightning" wheel for the arm from the passengerside, or flip side of the mounting of the arm, it is easy to do, By the way that rack and bike holder is made by Thule for Porsche. Keep up you good spirit.

Hey, have you seen the 1.000.000 911? "Irish green", with wood and retro dials and upholstery. Not sure about the chrome side mirrors though.
Since you don't have a real trunk, maybe you can strap the next dead body on the roof. (wrapped in old carpet, so cops won't bother you, before you have a chance to dump it in the woods, where you dumped the others)

I also got a rack for my 991, how do you make the metal part that attaches to the base rack stick out so I can attach it? Could not find instructions online.

Porsche system looks great but if you ever want a smaller, lighter and easier system then take a look at the SeaSucker Talon. I needed a bike carrying solution for my BMW i8 which has no rail systems available and opted for the SeaSucker. It's a great system, secure, easy to store in the boot or behind a seat. They do a 1, 2 and 3 bike system too if you have friends.
Suction cups on Porsche paint?
Glider 123 hell yeah. Doesn't damage the paint or clear coat. Works fine on lacquered carbon fibre roof too even with BMW's typical orange peel finish.

Bikes on the roof of sports cars is my fetish. I approve, Nick. It would be nice to see some straps from the handlebars to the roof however, run diagonally. Having the bottom of the wheels take the whole moment of the bike is a lot of stress concentrated right there.

The third party systems cost the same, you may as well get the Porsche RTS
Issue is that if its not optioned with the car originally, there will be no holes on the roof to bolt the rails to. :(

I thought another rookie error was that you can't do over 120kph with a bike or whatever on the roof. Makes passing traffic quickly a bit hard.

I have a neighbor that leaves the ski box on top of her Range Rover the whole year round, infuriates me to no end, don't know why but it just does. Also pretty confident she doesn't even ski so no clue why it's on there to begin with.
