Did the USB and battery pack work for you? The full size uses a 5v to 12v step up cable. Since the portable is only 6v you cannot use the same cable. Wandered if you actually tried it with the battery pack and maybe just a 5v cable.
@@TomHorsmanAmateurBBQ this video you showed a lithium pack and USB cable, that other video it looks like you are using a backup battery with the standard wall adapter. Was wondering if you found a USB cable that works with the lithium pack.
I think the limit on high temps relates to the amount of charcoal it holds. But it get pretty dang hot. I’ll bet it’ll sear a steak nicely! Thanks for sharing Tom
Thanks Tom for your pro look at this grill. Looks like this grill isn’t for me I wouldn’t like the ash bin over filling into the manifold with the fan blowing ash over the meat.
I appreciate how you custom paint many of your grills. What type and brand of paint do you use in order to do so? Is there any special steps you take prior to painting them?
Thanks for Watching Eric! High heat rustoleum seems to work well for me. Any engine paint will work. I usually light sand and wipe down really well before paint
Im wondering if this would make a decent replacement for my old woodflame delecto, that I cant get parts for anymore :( How long until someone hooks up a fireboard to take over fan control in one of these :)
Seriously thinking about buying this cooker for our camping trips. Have you tried any smoking in it yet? Wood chunks vs chips? Also, would love to see you do a breakdown on your painting process. I have a 560 as well and would love to get some color on it.
@@TomHorsmanAmateurBBQ Thanks Tom! I just ordered it without the cart off Amazon for $220. I will get to play with it Wednesday before we head to the campsite this weekend!
@@danielploy9143 I bought it shortly after this post lol. I sold it 2 weeks ago. It worked great, I just never used it compared to my bigger cookers. Even when camping I still just ended up taking my Weber Kettle.
I watched the pork butt cook at The Gallery and now this. This grill suffers from some limitations (fuel capacity and lid height mainly) that make it less capable than other options. Jumbo Joe or Go Anywhere or some of the portable pellet grills seem to have greater capability for less or similar money. Appreciate your videos because I am interested in this cooker but would ultimately be unhappy with it. Now...will Char Griller answer the call for a portable fan driven charcoal grill?
Hey Tom! You know.......it's amazing what You can do with a fan. And they are exploring the possibilities. Ya' gotta Love it...... But what ever happened to Grilling Direct instead of Grilling Direct Indirect? Hmmmm???? I say....give 'em Anything that they are willing to part with their hard earned money for. It may be a Better mouse trap.......But in the end......We all......still catch the mouse. 👍 Metal On! \🔥/
Thanks for Watching Thomas! Appreciate the feedback! There is definitely a learning curve with this one. But once it’s figured out I think it will work very nicely
I’m liking this portable grill Tom!!!! Waiting for first cook!
Thanks Robert! Already posted!
Great video again! What paint did you use for the color? Looks amazing.
Thanks for Watching! Rust oleum high heat engine paint

@@TomHorsmanAmateurBBQ thanks for the tips, I'll keep those in mind if I ever choose to try custom painting myself! 😀
So to cook at 225 would I just turn the fan dial slightly? Thanks
Thanks for Watching! Yes

Thanks for watching Robert! No room for chunks would need to chips. Just cleaned with lacquer thinner taped and paintef

Looks very fiddly , I know it’s portable will see how you go with 1st cook.
Nice video Tom 👍👍

3 hours, a portable grill.... Thumbs up in my opinion!
